Gathering together this collection of tree pictures has been one of the outstanding joys of my many years of outdoor photograph. No having had special training in the identification of trees, I had difficulty in locating many of them as well as giving them proper names, as a number have two or more common names. I am indebted to some of my friends in forestry for kindly offering this valuable information, particularly Mr. A.H. Richardson who has written the descriptions of the trees in this book.
