Holder does a masterful job of hitting all the key points of the reformation era without getting bogged down in the details. His work is easy to read and makes for a brisk, yet rich, encounter with a pivotal time in Church history.

I recommend this to any history buff or someone looking to learn more about Church/Christian history.

I read this book for Church History Class. It was well written and informative. Most Westminster books are pretty solid, and this one was no exception.

An excellent concise introduction to the historical contexts of the Reformation era. It treats the primary figures and movements critically while remaining relatively objective. Most chapters close with discussion questions, suggested primary and secondary readings, and doctrinal-vocabulary discussions.
