"No...", I murmur before shaking my head once again, "Don't do this... Please!" I grab onto his arm as he takes a step toward us, "Kaden! Don't do this!!" His fiery-red eyes snap to mine as he lets out a growl. "It's 'Alpha' to you.", he speaks with a two-toned voice as his wolf speaks through him as well. I slowly shake my head as my hands start to tremble and are forced to let go of his arm. His dominating aura engulfs me, forcing me to submit as he whispers, "Just go outside and wait there. That might make things easier for you." I open my mouth but no voice comes out. I glance at the male inside the cell in panic as my feet start to move on their own, obeying the Alpha Command. My mate only gives me a soft comforting smile and my heart crushes into pieces. With ragged breaths, I step outside the dungeon, my body trembling. Just then the screams of my mate echo through the underground structure and I fall to my knees, howling in pain and agony. _______________________________ With his mate finally at his side, Kaden believed he had secured his love life. However, as danger knocks on their door, the bonds he worked so hard to build, begin to crumble. In this desperate war for the safety of his loved ones, how can he prevent himself from causing harm to those he's determined to protect?
You've come here to know more about the author whose books you’ve read. As you await the curtain to be removed, questions flood your mind - “Who is the Author? What do they look like? What kinds of books do they write?”
At last, the curtain is pulled aside; there in front of you is the phoenix, a fiery bird with a sharp beak and red beady eyes, perched on a table with a quill in its beak, and staring back at you. With its talons on a desk, it wonders to itself what brings you here, and how this moment will unfold.
The Phoenix looks at you, trying to decipher the mystery of your presence. With its red beady eyes, it asks why you are here when you refuse to respond. Instead, you stare back in silence, waiting for the phoenix to unravel the mystery.
After some moments, the phoenix sighs and turns back, its sharp beak turning the quill to add more to the story it has been working on, its brilliant fiery red feathers ruffled as it continues to write. Many of your questions remain unanswered but you do know that the author's name is Eli Blake. Though you can't yet tell whether that makes Eli male or female, you're confident that the author will be fun to cuddle with and ruffle its feathers.

O. M. G. The. Angst. They did go through a lot in this second part, especially Olivia. I felt so bad for her and I could sympathise with all her feelings. She feels betrayed by everyone, like she's lost everyone, like she can't trust anyone, she feels lost, and she was totally right to feel that way. I even liked her dark, revengeful side, a lot, even though she was tricked into it. Alphas are hard to like sometimes, they can be protective and caring but also colder and insensitive at times, which is just part of their character. Eli really dares to reach such level of angst that I think I hold my breath for a few chapters Lol. At some point I really didn't know how it would be possible for things to be resolved, until they did. It's only thanks to reading Daniel' Trilogy first (which is supposed to be read later) that I was prepared to some of the events, which worked for me to be prepared, but to enjoy this duet without spoilers it would be best to read in the right order.
The story was emotional and fun. My only issue was how they gloss over the wildly inappropriate relationship between the ML and his female friend. Their actions were disgusting for people in committed relationships and everything was brushed off as jealousy. Especially when the friend attacked the FL unprovoked and had an aggressive demeanor toward her for half the book, but the ML saw no issue with it.
