This book was on display at our local library, along with a bunch of other beach books. I love that it depicts (what I assume is a) single working mother and her daughter, and that they aren't white--so many storybook characters or white, or if they aren't white it's because the book is specifically "multicultural". In this book the characters just happen to be black, but there's no reason that they have to be. It's a nice little story about how to be resourceful when you don't think you have exactly what you need and your day doesn't go quite as planned.
Also, I'm fairly certain this book is about a New York/Jersey beach. My kids can relate!

This wasn't my favorite book of the day but it wasn't bad. It pertained to resourcefulness and finding other ways of making do with what you've got. It was a nice book.
