Teenage boys are idiots. This is a totally cheating short short story. The hero had a girlfriend for four years but starts sleeping with the heroine over the summer. I hate most YA romances and stay away from them but this slipped through. He was a pig. I don't know for sure but I think he was sleeping with both of them at the same time. It is never really clarified but I hated how he treated her like a dirty secret. He was telling both of them he loved them at the same time.

It reminded me of my husband when we were dating in high school. I think he said that to a lot of girls. He told me that on our second date. Only I didn't know until long after that although I thought we were exclusive he did not. Long time ago but it still hurts in my heart. Plus we have been married 43 years. I need to let it go. Lol At least I was his last.

Dear Lord, I would like to thank you for helping me get through this book. There were times where I had to put it down because I got mad at the characters. But that is what I enjoy about Lauren's writing, she bring out your emotions full front and gets the reader like myself invested in her stories. Now the characters...

Henry

Jackie Chan Pictures, Images and Photos

I admire that he loves really deeply, but dammit the boy just couldn't make a decision. It mad me angry the way he treated Riley "I love you so much, but let's just keep us a secret ok?" and then to flaunt his "public relationship" with Callie in in Riley's face. Really? That would so not fly with me! Thank goodness he stepped up in the end. Though his secret was really sad :(

Riley
[image error]

Poor Riley, she was just a girl in love... Really in love, and sometimes she was just puddy in his hands. For a while I was fustrated at her because she was doing whatever he was telling her to do and she just couldn't say no to him. But luckly she came around, I was proud of her for telling Henry just how she really felt. Good girl Riley. In the end Henry got with the right girl, his true other half.

*sighs* Why did it have to end?

See that is my problem with novellas...I just don't want to see them go. But that is a good problem to have, because it means that you really loved the book!

Here you meet Ry, and oh how I loved her! This book is full of teenage angst, and heartbreak as you live inside the world of being the "other" women. Ry is constantly talking herself into leaving Henry, but then when she is around him she just can't. Henry is tormenting her with his addictiveness and it is slowly tearing her apart. Having to go to school everyday seeing Henry with his girlfriend of 4 years. Hearing the pet names he calls her...it's torture.

I think the best thing about this book though was the fact that it has the ability to make you feel so much. I started this book hating Henry. I wanted to choke him for what he was doing to Ry. I wanted to shake Ry until she realized she was better than this. But by then end there is a twist that I was shocked to find left me crying...NOT for RY, but for Henry. And now everything makes such perfect sense in the land of teens thinking they are doing the right thing when really they are just being fueled by emotions. So now here I stand going from wanting to choke Henry to death, to wanting to hold him and tell him everything will never be ok but I will damn sure try to make it better!

Do yourself a favor....and pick up this book. WAIT! Actually pick up ANY book written by Lauren Hammond. Yes there are some typos here and there, but I guarantee you will devour every word she feeds you and beg for more. Enter the world Lauren Hammond has created for you and get ready to FEEL something again!

This has an OTT obsessed heroine (not hero). Book is an angsty YA without any love scenes.

The h is his dirty secret and he treats her like she deserves_ like shit.
He used to love his gf of 4 yrs, now he loves the h. In a few years, he will cheat on the h too with another ow, and love her instead.

The h is a pathetic doormat who’s sleeping with another girls bf, and she thinks this is ok, because she lovvves him, he’s hot, so she doesn’t want to think about what she’s doing is wrong. he’s kissing his gf and is loving towards her in front of this doormat, but she’s willing to get stomped on just to be with him. She’s crying through his bullshit, because she’s had a crush on him since 3rd grade, and this is her chance (they’re seniors in the book), how pathetic. The worse thing is that her dad cheated on her mom and they’re having issues at home while she’s cheating with this boy.🙄

The GF is a major bitch, but she doesn’t deserve to get cheated on. Since we are not told any different,I am sure he was also sleeping with the gf too. His FB said he was at his GFs house at 8:30pm when he was suppose to see the h and he never came over.

I hated everyone in this book so I DNF 75%.

The home wrecker h thinks she’s a special snowflake:

“ I know what most people think about girls like me. Home wrecker and whore are two of the names that always sound off in my mind. Thinking of myself as either one of those names doesn’t feel right because what I want people in general to understand is that I am neither one.

Our relationship progressed slowly. First, he’d come over and we’d sit on the porch swing and talk. Then he took me to a spot where we’d lay on the hood of his car and watch the stars. Not long after that he gave me my first, real kiss and sometime later, I gave him all of me.”

Writing is good, will try another book from the author.

Henry and Riley have known each other for 13 years.
Henry is a shallow good looking guy, which any girl with a decent taste wouldn't date(only Cailey, the exact match for him, which of course has been dating him for 4 years)
Henry cheats Cailey with Riley all through the book and when Riley even texts him she gets yelled at
He feels like he can control all the world with his little finger, in one second he is with Cailey calling her babe and kissing her and a second after he makes out with Riley.
Riley is obiviously blind, while I think Cailey got just the right match for her- An egoistic guy who thinks everything must surround around him.

that book´s plot somehow reminds me of Anna and the french kiss(which is not a bad book)-
1.There is a hot boy
2.he and the girl fall in love
3.the boy has a girlfriend for a long time and although he fell in love with the girl he doesnt break up with his gf
4.suddenly you see why the boy does not break up with the girl-his mother is sick(cancer)
5. The boy breaks up with his girlfriend and gets together with the girl

So yea, I would have considered it at Anna and the french kiss level and would have rated it 5 stars, but : Etienne was sweet and lovable although he did all those things cause right after he kissed Anna he broke up with his girlfriend, and he didnt break up with his girlfriend cause he didnt want to be alone and didnt cheat while he was with his girlfriend, while Henry was selfish, a player, and the reason that his mother was sick didnt excuse the fact that he is a player.
In the end I was suprised Riley even got back to that stupid guy AND EVEN APOLOGIZED!!
I guess next time I would avoid reading books like that and stick to my favorite authors at last they wont dissapoint me.

Well, as you can probably guess from the title, this is a story about a love triangle...a teenage love triangle...involving Henry - the hottest-looking guy in the senior class, Callie - his bitch-on-wheels girlfriend of 4 years, and Riley - the quiet, pretty girl who has fallen head-over-heels in love with Henry and is now his secret "piece" on the side. After spending nearly every night of the summer with Henry (he would climb through her window after her mother had retired each evening), Riley was hopelessly in love. The two of them got on fabulously together...admitted out loud to each other they were in love... and Riley was certain that she had found her soulmate in Henry. Even so, she was well aware that he had a girlfriend; and although Henry claimed that he didn't love Callie, he wasn't breaking up with her either.

The story begins as they are starting back to school for their senior year. Since the three have known each other for 13 years, Riley assumes that she will be able to handle seeing Henry and Callie together like she always has. Actually, she knows she has no choice but to act indifferent towards them...she loves Henry too much to let him go and would rather share him than not have him at all. But all of Riley's practical rationalizing over their odd relationship goes out the window the first time she actually sees Henry & Callie together. She is devastated...so much so that she becomes physically ill.

From the beginning I had Henry convicted & sentenced to suffer the "Lorena Bobbitt" punishment. How dare he insinuate himself into Riley's life (by way of bed) and then ignore her in public! He made her feel like she was his "dirty little secret" and I hated him for it. I had no idea how the author was going to mold this guy into hero material. Fortunately, she found a way and Henry did redeem himself ..but not 100%. There were a few scenes where Henry deliberately hurt Riley's feelings and the reasons were never confronted or explained away. And of course there is always the question, 'If he could cheat with me will he cheat on me?' Nevertheless, I suspended disbelief, shook off all nagging thoughts and bought right into the sweet HEA.

Even though this is a YA romance and I am so not a young adult, I do remember the feelings I had when I was 17-18 and involved with someone...they were very real and just as profound and complex as they have been in adulthood. I found myself truly empathizing with Riley and the inner turmoil she silently struggles to come to grips with. Bottom line: should she follow her head or her heart? Lauren Hammond is like a fountain overflowing with metaphors, and she uses them most effectively by telling this story through 1st person POV. Riley's intense love for Henry and her conflicted emotions because of it are so vivid through description that you can actually feel her despair. At times it became a little overwhelming and I had to stop reading to bring my heart rate back down!

There is cheating in this . if problematic for you, suggest you do not write it off just yet, given its unique, complex scenario. If there was ever a selfless rationale for stringing an ex along, this might be it, given its trauma and youthful pain ,loss and confusion basis in mind .😭
I'd be happy to give more spoilers upon request.

He Loves Me…He Loves You Not is a short story by Lauren Hammond. I was glued to the pages of this novel. I had to find out what was going on and how things were going to turn out. I couldn’t put it down. It definitely held my attention and interest.

Now that I have finished reading this novel, I am not entirely sure how I feel about it. This was the first story I have read that’s told from the other woman’s perspective, and I am very torn.

“Riley loves Henry. Henry loves Riley, but he's dating Callie.”

I have a problem with that. If Henry loves Riley so much, why is he dating Callie? He gives a reason, but it wasn’t good enough for me. His reason may be enough to satisfy some readers, but I thought it was selfish and cowardice. Throughout the novel, Henry, unintentionally, hurt Riley. Emotionally. Over and over. In the end, I couldn’t forgive him for that.

I gave He Loves Me…He Loves You Not by Lauren Hammond 3 STARS (2.5 STARS). The reason I rated it 3 STARS v. 2 STARS was because it was original and captivating. It’s available for only $0.99 on Amazon Kindle, so check it out for yourself if you are still curious.

Short, sweet and to the point, this is a good fast book.

What I like most about this book is the great drama that is in it. There is no dragging things out but it all happens fast and to the point. Even though the book is small, it delivers what it is supposed to. An entertaining teen drama about love and lost.

I really adored the characters and their struggles. So much is put into this small book that it is easy to take all in. I like that each character is unique and fresh. They each have a distinct voice that you can read.

Now the love interest is the very big part oft his book. I like it. It like the struggle, the secrets, and most of all, the exposing of it. I like how it blew up in their faces and how it made thing change. Cause in real life, things happen that way.

He Loves Me...He Loves You Not is an fast drama-filled book. Once you start, you can't stop. If your looking for a quick read about love and lost, read this book!

I try not to read YA books, but I really liked this one.
Great story, I LOVED Riley, I felt I could sympathize with her, she's totally honest about her emotions and you can actually feel her pain and struggle. Henry was OK, I felt he could have acted differently.

“I’d told myself that some part of him was better than no part of him. But some part of him is beginning to break me. I want more. I need more. Because just like Callie, I’m in love with him, too.” - Riley

I love the stories that have happily ever afters, but if you were to ask me to choose between that and a story about an angst-driven romance, I would probably choose the latter. I don’t know why I like books about messy, imperfect, gut wrenching relationships so much. Maybe on some level I feel like I relate to them? Maybe it’s because there’s the chance that the ending won’t be predictable? I don’t know. Relationships are just f*cking messy sometimes, and I guess there’s a masochistic part of me that likes reading about those imperfect romances; which is why I was pretty dang excited to read He Loves Me…He Loves You Not.

The storyline is pretty self-explanatory: “Riley loves Henry. Henry loves Riley, but he’s dating Callie.” So, just how long can Henry string Riley along before she finally gets tired of being his dirty little secret?

To be completely honest, I had no problem with Riley. I don’t thinking cheating is right on any level, but it’s not like she was messing around with Henry just to have something fun to do; she legitimately loved him, and after all the lines he fed her about loving her, I can imagine it would be hard to turn him down or just flat out walk away from the situation. I felt for her so many times throughout this novella, because it seemed like no matter what she did or said, Henry was never willing to fully commit to her. He would give her hope and then take it right back. This brings me to my next point…

Henry. It is safe to say that I am not a Henry fan. He is in love with Riley, but refuses to break up with Callie. Um…what? The reason he “can’t” leave Callie is made clear towards the end of the book, but I just didn’t see that as a valid excuse…at all. He was just downright selfish. I don’t understand how he could continually hurt Riley over and over again if he loved her so much. And granted, Callie is a b*tch but no girl deserves to be lied to and cheated on. To me, Henry was the embodiment of a self-centered jerk.

Despite my dislike for Henry, I did still enjoy this book. If a character evokes any kind of emotion from me, whether it is positive or negative, I think that’s a characteristic of a good author. The storyline had me in its grip from the very beginning, and didn’t let go. It’s a short read and I believe it’s only $0.99 from Barnes and Noble (as a nook book) so if you like angst-driven romances, I’d definitely encourage you to give He Loves Me...He Loves You Not a whirl.

"He Loves Me ... He Loves You Not" is the book that I have a really hard time to read. It's such a heart-breaking story and I also hate the plot ... one boy and two girls ... it's not my style at all. However, I kind of dig this book.

1. I like the way Lauren Hammond starts every chapters with the beautiful quote about love which relates to the details in that chapter.

2. I love Riley. She's in a complicated situation ... she's truly deeply in love with some girl's boyfriend. But she still have some pride; she tries to make thing right ... that's one thing I like about her.

3. I don't like Henry. He's such a jerk even though Lauren Hammond explains the reason why he did what he did at the end of the book but I still think that's nonsense. You'll never treat the one you love that way. I hardly believe that he loves Riley (not to mention Collie). I don't understand why Riley loves him that much.

4. I like the friendship between Rosa and Riley. I think even "He Loves Me ... He Loves You Not" shows me the downside of love between boy and girl. However it makes me overwhelming by the relationship between friends. Riley is so lucky that she has a friend like Rosa ... You win some you lose some, right?

That's all main reasons why I give this book only 2.5 stars. And if you want to change your mood to somber and sappy, I have to tell you that "He Loves Me ... He Loves You Not" does fit right in.

Reading this book made me feel so many emotions. I was up, down and twisted inside out by the time I was finished. I don't think that I will ever be able to stop praising Lauren Hammond for her work. This is the third book of hers that I have read and just love them all.

Riley is so torn about her relationship with Henry. She knows that she is head over heels in love with him but is unsure how he feels about her no matter how many times he tells her she is the one. The fact is that Henry already has a girlfriend...Callie.

She is pretty, popular and she has Henry publicly. The things that Riley is convinced that she will never have. She wants to believe him, but she knows that it is wrong to sneak around behind Callie's back.

The night of the stand off, is the night that Riley finds out more about Henry then she thought she knew. He had a secret that he kept from her and that made her doubt their relationship even more. Will he trust her with his secrets and ditch Callie once and for all or will Riley curb check him? Find out.

YA Recommended.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.
I appreciated that Riley was a sympathetic
and honest character--it was easy to understand
how torn she was for being in love with a guy
that was already taken.

It was Henry that bothered me (and the writing,
but I'll get to that in a bit).

I really didn't like that the author tried to
justify his actions. Yes, he had "other things
going on" in his life that were troublesome, but
really? How could that make everything okay?

In the end, he was still a selfish coward who
really didn't care how Riley felt.

As for the writing,
there were a few grammatical things that irked
me, as well as the overuse of metaphors and
comparisons (i.e. "I'm Anne Boleyne." "I'm the
ocean." "I'm a cocaine addict." or whatever else
Riley "was").

Overly dramatic and annoying writing.

A quick and cute read my favorite! although it always leaves me wanting more. This story has a love traiangle Of course! Henry is with both Riley and Callie, Riley is the hidden girlfriend while Callie is the public one. Riley think she can handle seeing Henry and Riley in public but when you love someone the way she loves Henry it takes a lot out of you, she starts breaking down her friend Rosa is worried about her and Henry and her start arguing. Henry says he only loves Riley and has no feelings for Callie but he won't leave her for reasons he won't tell her about so she has to decide what is best for her and her heart stay or leave.

Umm... I had serious misconceptions of this book when I started. Henry was....umm... not a great guy. What kind of guy dates one girl and sleeps with another (Don't answer that). Henry and Riley's relationship seemed almost abusive, like when you the girl knows she shouldn't be with a guy but "she looooves him". They way Riley absolutely NEEDED Henry was creepy, oh and how did Henry just notice Riley after 13 years? Henry's whole excuse for not breaking up with Calley and keeping Riley a secret was lame. What mother would want her son to be unhappy?

Anyway, this whole story was lame. I was hoping for sweet love story and not a pathetic, desperate teenage drama.

Lauren...your slowly killing me with every book of yours I read! I can't possibly cry anymore or have my heart torn for these easily lovable characters that you create and put through hell! Ugh! This one is gut wrenching, Henry is such a great and very desirable guy and the torture he goes through is beyond painful. Ry is amazing. Such a compassionate character and yet very naive. There were a few parts where I wanted to reach out and shake some smart into her. I only gave 4 stars because there were a few spelling and grammatical errors, some of which made me go back and reread to figure out what was supposed to be said but otherwise such a great love story!

Lauren Hammond, you have done it again! I really love this authors writing, it just flows so easily and the characters and feelings they express just feel so real, and spot on. Some may not agree, but I really felt for Riley's situation...the love was deep and I felt every emotion as it was my own.

This is a quick read; from page one I was hooked and I read it in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down! I would say my final rating is 4.8, dut to a few minor errors or typos.

BOTTOM LINE: Read it, Lauren Hammond is awesome! =)

I couldn't help falling for this novella. The writing style is great and really drew me in. And I felt for the main character. Even though she knew she shouldn't be "the other woman," her love for Henry was too strong to deny.
This fun little read is a roller coaster of emotions that feel very real. As long as you don't mind a liberal helping of teen angst (and really, isn't that what YA is about?), you should enjoy this book.

This was a short read with high emotions! This book is all about being the "other women" and all the angst that goes along with it. I wanted the book to continue further into Riley and Henry's lives due to the fact that I kinda hated Henry, I would like to explain the "kinda", but I don't want to give anything away! All in all Riley's character was easy to relate to, be mad at and be proud of... pick this up when you are between books or searching for something short and sweet!

I don't really care much for novellas. I enjoy reading full length books but this one caught my eye. I really enjoyed the idea of the story. However, the main character frustrated me at times and I didn't understand her thinking. I did though enjoy the story and wished it were longer. But it was well written and the interactions between the characters flowed really nicely. And you couldn't help but hope that Riley and Henry have their happily ever after.

He Loves Me...He Loves You Not... Is a nice, quick enjoyable read. The entire book is pretty much about teenage heartbreak, so there's a fair share on whining involved (but really, that's to be expected =] ), and you can't help but feel for them emotionally.
You can pretty much guess how it's going to end, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable, I would definitely recommend it =]
