A Little Wild

She wants a piece of his rock. He needs her, rock steady, in his heart.

Tess Sheridan won’t let anything stop her from making partner at a prestigious law firm, especially her notoriously soft heart. The result? She’s a handful of clients away from getting her name on that brass plate. And she hasn’t had sex in over a year.

When her best friend dares her to test-drive her erotic fantasies with a gorgeous stranger, she figures, why not? Loosening the reins will give her inner nympho some well-deserved pampering without jeopardizing her career goals.

Zach Halliday has enjoyed his bad-boy reputation to the fullest, but now it’s time to leave the relative safety of the family corporation and prove he can stand on his own in the business world. That doesn’t mean he’ll pass up an opportunity for some incredible phone sex with the beautiful strawberry blonde he met in a bar.

When business overlaps with the bedroom, Zach sees something special in Tess and is determined to convince her he’s the man she needs, anytime, anyplace. She can backpedal, but come hell or high-climbing-wall, he wants the fascinating, complicated sex bomb in his bed. Over and over again…

This book contains explicit, melt-your-panties sex (phone and otherwise), and inappropriate use of wild cherry ice cream. Insights on rejuvenating your own inner nympho may be inspired upon reading.

A steamy romance, A Little Wild will appeal to readers who enjoy sizzle with their romance. I personally found the screeds of explicit bedroom scenes a little off-putting and found myself skimming through the pages to get to the real story line, which was actually rather good. I enjoyed Zach’s irreverent sense of humour and playfulness, that in fact hid an intelligent, hard working man. Tess on the other hand, was known for being hardworking and it takes Zach’s wicked sense of humour to make her unbend and come to conclusions about what was truly important in life. The romance in the secondary story involving Chloe and Ethan intrigued me and I would have liked to know more about what happened to them. This book definitely needs to come with an age restriction, but once you get into the plot, it is an enjoyable story. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

Ego vs alter-ego, Tess and Zach started out with an intriguing interest in each other. How they become more to each other is an endearing journey. Their relationship development has many twists and turns including how their families influenced their decisions about careers and relationships.

Tess comes to terms with her parents marriage issues and how those issues are not hers. Zach realizes that he has to man-up and be honest with his father about his business plans. Working through these issues made it possible for them to be honest with each other and move forward.

I received a free copy of A Little Wild by Kate ST. James and this review was given freely.
This full length romance contains many erotic dreams, phone calls and scenes involving Tess and Zack making it best for mature readers. Lawyer Tess and her best friend coffee shop manager Chloe are both skeptical that love exists. Ironically, the men they initially try to avoid, the billionaire brothers Ethan and Zack, have plans to change the girls' minds. Work, family drama, a steamy romance, and a sweet romance make this a complex and steamy read.

"I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review. The story line is great. My only issue was the sex scenes overrode the story. It is well written and the characters were interesting.

Poised, professional, and prepared is the recipe by which Teresa Sheridan plans on making partner at the law firm she works for. She's all business until a night out with her best friend, one too many drinks, and a dare brings out her inner nympho. Not one to say no to a dare she accepts the challenge all the while looking for loopholes in the agreement. Soon after, it's all Tess can do to stop embarrassing herself further with the total hottie by the bar. However, a bet's a bet and Tess hates to lose, but her heart wasn't part of the bargain.

Zach wasn't about to say no to the strawberry blonde wearing business clothes smelling slightly of alcohol. Looks can be deceiving and Zach, more than anyone, knew that. Her unexpected proposition had him definitely intrigued and highly aroused. However, Zach's seemingly simplistic life of women and money gets complicated with the addition of Tess and her new "lawyerly" role with his father's company. Doesn't mean they can't have some fun if she's willing. Yet, all too soon, having fun with Tess isn't enough – not nearly.

There are so many deliciously sexy and sensual activities in this story that are sure to please the inner nympho of many readers. The story does as the title suggests and gets a little wild with the sex scenes. Role-playing, phone sex, a voyeuristic fantasy while masturbating, and lots and lots of foreplay – office, closet, a magazine and food. Tess and Zach are fun and teasing to read during these moments and aren’t into extremes, so for them it's about exploration. The seriousness comes into play outside of the bedroom and how they emotionally evolve into their relationship.

Tess is the uptight lawyer who hasn't had sex in a while, but she's afraid of commitment because of her parents' mistakes. So she meets always fun and adventurous Zach who was supposed to be her sex-with-no-strings kind of guy. Zach didn't anticipate, though, the effect the right woman would have on his commitment-shy heart. That premise leads to great character dynamics and I loved that the male lead acknowledges his feelings and then makes a plan of attack. I did feel kind of cheated without the majority focus being on Tess and Zach. The secondary characters of Tess's best friend and Zach's older brother are a bit distracting as they are interjected throughout the story. I enjoyed reading about these two characters and their own dysfunctional quirks, but the switching of point-of-views was just a tad frustrating. They definitely have a story and it would have been great to read it separately from this one.

The storyline picks up quickly in the beginning and keeps moving with a few small unexpected twists. Great intro for a new-to-me author that I will definitely be checking out again. Readers who like their romances extra racy should check this one out.

From Tess Sheridan’s perspective, sex equals trouble and heartbreak. And with her eye on making partner, she doesn’t want any trouble or heartbreak in her personal life screwing things up. Then her best friend dares Tess to let herself go a little wild and find a man she wants to burn up the sheets with. The catch is, Tess has to not fall in love with the guy. Tess is convinced she can win the bet. Then she meets sexy charmer Zach Halliday. Zach turns her on like no other man has, but the laid-back businessman who’s determined to leave his father’s company and forge his own path comes with some big complications. Namely, Tess’s firm represents the Halliday family corporation and her involvement with Zach leads to some sticky situations. It’d be best if she could break things off with Zach - professionally and personally – before she loses her heart and the bet.

Author Kate St. James has delivered sexy characters that’ll surprise you in the wickedly entertaining A LITTLE WILD. Tess is a dedicated young lawyer with a good heart and a strong mind. Ms. St. James makes Tess feel like she could be one of your friends, which makes it easy to become invested in her story. Zach, in turn, has a reputation for being a little wild himself. But underneath that carefree charm is a sharp mind that just needs direction. I loved watching both Tess and Zach come into their own over the course of A LITTLE WILD. Surprisingly enough, their personal growth engaged me more than their hitting the sheets – that’s saying something since Ms. St. James definitely doesn’t skimp on the heat factor. Things get more than “a little wild” in bed, on the phone and elsewhere in this story.

A delightful subplot involving Tess’s best friend Chloe and Zach’s brother Ethan keep A LITTLE WILD going strong even when mistakes and misunderstandings in the main plot threaten to bring the story down. All in all, I enjoyed A LITTLE WILD and I think fans of red-hot contemporary romance will enjoy Tess and Zach’s book.

Very cute, sweet story. Tess tends to fall in love with every man she sleeps with, so her friend dares her to have sex with someone over the course of six weeks and not fall in love. Tess goes out on dates, but they're largely platonic because she knows how quickly she can fall, and she doesn't want to end up like her mom, doing everything possible to the detriment of her own life to save a potentially failing relationship. Tess also keeps things platonic because she's climbing the ladder in her firm, and she's extremely focused on that. Relationships could get in the way.

So for the dare, Tess picks a guy she thinks will be empty headed (aka "pretty"). She even tries to give Zach a fake phone number because she doesn't *really* want to go through with it, but her friend supplies him with the real one. For his part, Zach gives her a fake name because he's rich -- he's tired of women fawning over him for his money and not himself. The first time he calls her, they have phone sex while she's in the tub. Then, in an important meeting, Zach shows up and she's mortified because (a) she had phone sex with him, and (b) she never expected him to be Zach, the younger son of the man whose account on which she's been working so hard.

Once Tess accepts the mutual attraction, she tries SO HARD to keep it to just sex, but considering he's falling in love too, Zach makes it quite difficult. When he told her he wanted to make love to her, not have sex, I was a puddle. He was trying so hard to show her this relationship was so much deeper. Throw in a little bit of secrecy -- about relationships, life plans, fathers secretly gifting parts of businesses to sons who don't want it -- and you end up with a potential deal breaker. Ultimately an HEA and really sweet. Some smexy parts, too. Tess and Zach definitely had some major chemistry.

I also enjoyed the side story with Ethan and Chloe. I was glad Tess gave Ethan the tools to finally talk to Chloe. I still don't quite get why she wouldn't date guys in suits, but everyone has their quirks I suppose.

Tess Sheridan has been driving herself to make partner at a high powered law firm. She's been so focused that she hasn't had sex in a year because she's afraid sex will lead to a relationship, and it will be a disaster. But Tess' best friend Chloe dares her to end her sexual dry spell by having a six week fling and not get romantically involved. Just sex. But the man Tess picks turns out to be better than she dreamed. Just not a stranger. After an evening of mind-blowing phone sex, he walks into her firm's office the next morning! Zach Halliday is as surprised as Tess, but more than happy to finally get her full name and how to find her. He came to the law offices looking for a lawyer for his company, and he's eager to mix business with pleasure.
Verdict: This is a sizzling hot story about a couple who start by intending to have sex without commitment and end up falling in love. It has some surprisingly sweet moments, especially since Zach realizes that he is in love before Tess does. Tess' fear of commitment is easy to understand, and the secondary romance between Chloe and Zach's brother Ethan provides an off-beat counterpoint. Recommended for those who like their romance on the steamy side. --Marlene Harris, Reading Reality,LLC

People will do some crazy sh*t on a dare. Tess's best friend, Chloe, dares her to pick up the hot guy at the bar, f--k his brains out, and NOT fall in love with him.

Because good girl Tess ALWAYS falls in love with the guys she's physically involved with.

And, as it turns out, she and Zach are also involved in business together; his father's development company, to which he's the heir apparent, has engaged the law firm where Tess has set her heart on making partner. Most unprofessional.

The sex scenes are hot and spicy, the characters appealing, the B story with Chloe and The Suit, aka Zach's brother Ethan, provides delightful comic relief.

It IS "a little wild" - no Red Room of Pain, menage, or zoo animals here, just mostly straight sex with a little wild cherry ice cream mixed in, but it was fun and kept my interest piqued.

This was a decent book, but it seems that a lot of the conflicts were hyped up like monsoons but ended up being light summer showers that were quickly done and forgotten. However, the characters were enjoyable enough to make up for it in my mind.

I have not read Kate St James before so I don't have any clear expectations on this book. The book turned out to be okay and surprisingly good. Cute, even. I just might read something else by her if I stumbled on one.
