Alien Heart

Rate this book
This is the translation of KS Duggal's classic Punjabi novel 'Mann Pardesi' about a family of nationalist Muslims in the years following Partition. Events are seen through the eyes of Zeba, daughter of Sheikh Haseeb. Zeba moves from a position of belief in separatist theory to a firm conviction that her own fate and that of her community lies in India. She realizes that her roots are here - her future is linked with the future of the country. To deny this would be to make hers an alien heart, one that belongs nowhere and knows no peace.
