Read a great book.. Great Canadians at War.. it is part of a really well researched series call “True Canadian Amazing Stories”
couple really intrigue me.. a) there is only 1 person (ever) that won the VC from Alberta b) less than 10% chance of survival of VC recipients c) there is a street in Winnipeg that actually had 3 VC soldiers (with couple year gaps, not the same battle) = that is insanely rare Then there are crazy ones.. this one guy finished WW2 with the rank of private.. after years of service and several promotions/demotions.. if you read his interview you will know why http://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/er...
