If you know nothing about health this book is great. If you know something about health this book is still pretty good. Even if you know a lot about health there is still some good information in this book.

I will just point out the most intriguing information that Marilu Henner provides. It is called food combining. Under her theory improper food combining will lead to weight gain. The rules to food combining are as follows:

Never combine starches with proteins
Never combine fruit with vegetables

This is a little tricky to follow however because you should eat vegetables with these meals. And some vegetables, like potatoes, are starches.

Marilu details her daily meals. She eats fruit for breakfast, proteins for lunch and starches for dinner.

She is a vegetarian and does not eat dairy. If you follow her complete regimen in this book you will certainly lead a more healthy lifestyle.

After you read this you will never look at dairy products the same way again. Although it has some extreme diet tips, there are others I have adopted since reading this and I feel so much better!! It is amazing what food can do to you.

I found such interesting information in this book. I have started to implement some of the steps in the book. I have cut out dairy....which I NEVER thought I would do. I've gone five days now and I'm feeling great. I am not even craving it like I thought I would. I do think Ms. Henner is a bit fanatical but overall the information in this book is really interesting and she has used a lot of resources. It is written in an easy to read format and it's also quite funny in parts.

If you can actually follow this plan, you will be in the best shape of your life. I did it for about two months in 2001 and was in the best shape of my life. I fell off the wagon with some cheese though and it was all over.

Again, another book purchased by a well meaning person who appears to know very little about my reading habits. I'll read just about anything with the this one caveat: IT MUST BE WELL WRITTEN.

I don't even like Taxi nor do I recall expressing an opinion on Marilu Henner. For years I've confused her with Denise Miller (Sooner or Later)!

I can't even seem to give this away. Whenever I put a box of books on the curb, this is usually the only thing left!

Such good information in this book. I've become the health nut I am today because of the information I read in Marilu's books. I've eliminated dairy and preservatives from my diet and cut back my consumption of meat. I am most thankful to this series of books for putting me on the path to good health and making me so much more informed of these matters.

If you've ever read "Fit For Life", then you know everything you need to about this book. "Fit For Life" is far superior. Marilu just reiterates the same "Fit For Life" health plan in her own words. I don't find her entertaining, nor did I find this book interesting or different from other health books I've read. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 only because the eating/health concepts are good.

This book has some very good ideas about improving one’s diet and lifestyle. I know after reading it back in 1998 I changed some of my habits for the better and shared it with some of the women I worked with at the time. However, like most things, I’ve resorted to old habits—makes me think I should reread it.

I love this book. I've had it for years and enjoy looking at it from time to time. I can't say I am a huge fan of Marilou Henner's, but this is a fascinating representation of a life and someone who has been obsessed with their physical body and taking care of it. She includes photos and remembers exactly how much she weighed in each one (I myself can do this as well). She shares quite a few facts about health and taking care of the body. It has good information about taking care of yourself.

Like all health books, there are some familiar ideas which should be common sense for all of us now. Avoid chemicals, preservatives, caffeine, nicotine, sugar substitutes, and fat. Marilu's ideas become more extreme for me as she eliminates all dairy, sugar, and meat which I try to limit, but am not interested in eliminating from diet. I was mainly interested in this book for her ideas on food combining, but like all of her chapters, she does not back up any of her ideas with any scientific data which it makes it hard for me to believe anything she is writing is more than just her personal experience. She also lost my support with her opposition to drinking water with meals.

Noticed this book in the library and my love for the tv show "Taxi" had me grabbing it off the shelf. This is the first book that gave me insight to the effects of dairy that I had no idea it caused and caused in me. One of the things I liked about this book was that you were not overwhelmed with too much change all at once, but that the Author encouraged whatever few changes you might want to try would be a big benefit to your life. It was very informative.

Really good book. It's not necessarily a diet book so much as a nutrition book, which is exactly what I was looking for. I was doubtful that an actress would be able to provide any real nutritional information, but Marilu knows her stuff. I've followed several of her recommendations and felt the difference right away. Smart lady!

Marilu Henner has a great writing style; funny & honest. She will educate the reader on the right foods to eat to stay healthy & energized. Somewhat of an expert, she transformed her body from obese & lethargic to healthy & energetic. I've read this book several times and enjoyed it equally each time. It's time to take a look at what we eat & move our bodies. Life is too short!

10 steps to your BEST body: Balance, energy, stamina, and toxin-free! I like books that give you practical, common-sense advice about how to live your life more healthfully, even if I don't always feel like I can put all the steps to good use in my own life. (I like dairy too much for that! Though I have been working on giving up / avoiding the overly processed foods.)

I thought the book rambled and was quite repetitive but it did offer some helpful tips.
