A young Jack and Dan adventure deep into the woods to shoot themselves some supper one night. After a long while of hunting, Jack suspects all the deer that normally frequented those woods were completely gone, whereas here they'd always been easy pickings. Soon, they both find themselves being hunted...by a pack of werewolves. When the pack hits a small southern town, the local Sheriff realizes this is one case he can not solve alone. He calls in the F.B.I. to help him take down the killers that are taking the lives of the local teens. When the wolves abandon the town for the streets of New Orleans during Mardi-Gras celebrations, the hunters become the hunted in an all-out war where no one may survive....
Franchisca Weatherman is a small city girl with a dream bigger then the tallest building. Franchisca Weatherman was born in Stanford Florida and eventually moved to Columbia South Carolina when her mom and dad got divorced. Even though Franchisca Weatherman always admired her mom and the strength she had everyday to make sure her and her brothers were well taken care of Franchisca knew that she wanted more from life then what could be dealt to her. So she enrolled in the local college to take classes and eventually wanted to earn a degree in film. Jack and Dan went deer hunting to put meat on the table. They find that deep in the woods that something is hunting them! Jack sees his brother brutally killed by something that he thought was a myth. Jack wakes to find himself hurt and bewildered by guilt because he is living a nightmare. He swears to hunt down his brother’s killer even if it costs him his life. He is blamed as his brother’s killer so he is placed in an insane asylum. Years pass as he is finally released from the mental ward to help police find the cause of the mass killings of teenagers at keg parties. The brutal killings in several cities mirror his brother’s death so Jack hopes to take revenge on what he knows to be a werewolf and not a simple serial killer.
Ms. Weatherman’s story takes the werewolf mythology and places it in New Orleans during Mardi-Gras. She takes what is already a crazy situation to ramp it up into a frenzy of partygoers and police trying to maintain order among numerous supernatural beings. Her story is a real nail-biter with humor and adventure thrown in. Franchisca’s first book is promising to be quite popular among readers who love great Gothic horror. Franchisca Weatherman is also the host of Francy and Friends on Blog Talk Radio on Sunday nights.
Wherewolf was an easy book to curl up with and enjoy a well crafted tale of, MY favorite creatures, lycanthropes. Ms. Weatherman combined the perfect amount of storyline, horror and gore for young adults. Not a little blood. Not a lot of blood. It was just right. The conflict between the two youthful wolves vying for dominance is a theme most people can relate to, be it between 'wolf' or human, teen or adult. I loved the elements of humor thrown between the bumbling heroes. It fleshed out the characters personality and humaness. The climax of the story being set in New Orleans was wonderful. Structured chaos. Great elements for a potential slaughter. Any wherewolf lover, looking for a fun read, teen or adult, look no further than Franchisca Weathermans Wherewolf.
Great werewolf fare, very scary, humorous and entertaining. It's for young adults, too so anyone would just love it. The storytelling is quick-paced and visual.
