More than a million readers have picked up books in the The Christy Miller Series making Robin Jones Gunn's newest series, Christy and Todd: The College Years, an eagerly awaited continuation to Christy's life. Featuring longer reads and college-age characters, these books will meet the enjoyment of readers young and old.

As You Wish is the second book of the series following the well-received Until Tomorrow. In As You Wish, Christy is finally back in the country after finishing her year abroad. Together with her friends at Rancho Corona University her junior year is everything she's hoped for—sharing a dorm with her best friend and seeing Todd every day.

But then the painful break-up of her friends' marriage causes Christy to pull back and seriously evaluate her deepening relationship with Todd. Above all, she wants to be clear on what God wants her to do with her future before she makes a lifelong commitment to anyone.

Naturally, everyone has advice for Christy's life, including Sierra, Uncle Bob, and even her younger brother. The most helpful guidance, however, comes from a surprising source. Will Christy and Todd at last become engaged? Does life ever turn out as we wish it would?

This book was so boring. Here are some things that happen:

Todd is a jerk - not a putz, a jerk - when he volunteers Christy for an unpaid job at the church he works at. Then he sneers at the idea of women who teach Sunday School being paid. Real asshole move. Very unlike him.

Uncle Bob becomes born-again, and it throws his marriage into a crisis. Yawn.

Christy's little brother becomes born-again. He's 13. I don't care.

Fat-shaming - Robin Jones Gunn pipes up twice in this novel to remind us women that becoming fat and "letting yourself go" is shameful. Can't control my disgust whenever this happens.

Todd is being amazing. Super-patient with Christy when it's hard for her to say "I love you" to him. He doesn't pressure her and that's great. I often find (in my experience and that of my friends and family) that men are the ones who are eager to say "I love you" and eager to get married, and eager to have kids. Contrary to what the media would have you believe, it's most often (IMO) the woman who's saying "Slow down" or "we need to think about this" etc. I have no clue why it's such a pervasive myth that men are resistant to love and marriage, when all around me what I see is the exact opposite. I like that this book reflects my reality back to me on this issue.

Todd gets into a car accident and is in the hospital for a week. So boring. Christy "discovers" that she really loves him and is waiting for the right time to tell him. Boring. As soon as Christy says, "I love you" to Todd, she expects an instant marriage proposal. Boring, so boring.

I wish this review was snarkier, but I was just so bored. Perhaps next time?

P.S. Oh! And Todd gives Christy a white carnation that he found in a dumpster. Really? REALLY??!? I have dated and been in love with poor men, unemployed men, I completely understand having no money. But I would infinitely prefer "no flowers" to "flowers I pulled out of the trash." And if you absolutely feel compelled to give a woman garbage-flowers, could you, for the love of Pete, NOT TELL HER THAT THEY ARE DUMPSTER-FLOWERS!?!?! No woman wants to know that. Just pretend you bought it or picked it from a garden. Seriously, dude. I know you are Christian, but LIE. Lie your little heart out.

If you've read all the Christy Miller (and Sierra Jensen) books up through to this one then it will be a welcome addition -- but I must say I found it a little...monotonous. Not boring, so much, as the main attraction of these books is Gunn's young characters. They are a lot of fun. But Christy spends far too much of the book musing over whether she loves Todd or not, and this after many other books confessing how much she loved him. It was hard to swallow -- that, and the whole "he MUST make the first move on everything since he's the male" idea. Gunn does fill in some back story on Todd in this one, which is nice though a little late.

Best christain books I have ever read. A cute christian love story. Clean, fun, and captivating. I read some of these books in a single day. All of my friends have loved the Christy Miller series and I STRONGLY recomend this book to any teenage girl.

This book means so much more now that I’m actually living the university life. I wish it contained more details about what that kind of life is like. But other than that, this wonderful love story reaches its climax (in terms of the drama of Todd and Christy’s love story) right here. After this, nothing ever gets as shaky ever again.

This book was very "meh" for me. I don't find Christy to be a compelling (or to some point, believable) character. After spending the whole of the first book of this series wondering if Todd really and truly loved her and was ready to marry her like she was him, she pulls back almost completely in this book. She starts off not knowing if she wants to get married so soon and if she can say the words "I love you" to Todd. Seriously? What in a few weeks could make her swing from such polar opposite opinions?

Also, the conflicts in the book are resolved way too quickly. They seem to be thrown in the path just so Mrs. Gunn could easily dismiss them because of Todd and Christy's awesome love and because God is so great. Don't get me wrong. I one hundred percept believe that God is great and can easily handle any puny human problem. What I don't believe is that resolutions are always so quick in coming. Sometimes the problem sticks around awhile because God uses that to grow us. Christy however quickly gets over her mild attraction to a high school friend as well as anger at Todd for committing her to teach a Sunday school class. (Seriously, it takes mere pages.)

The last portion of the book, after Todd is in a serious car accident and Christy finally says "I love you" (spoilers I guess), is spent with her anxiously wondering when he's going to propose. She's like that annoying little dog that won't stop following you around, panting.

All the negative comments aside, this is a fairly decent book. The writing is believable and not as pedestrian as it could be. The situations Christy faces are fairly believable. For that reason it survives the Great Purge of 2013. (Whether it will survive the next round is uncertain.)

I felt like I was done with this series at the end of Until Tomorrow, He said
"I Love You" my heart soared, and I didn't see a reason for anything more! But I read on! This book is good, but not great! But it is essential. It's about Christy coming to grips with the future and handling her emotions. Christy has never been simple and it wouldn't have been true to character to progress in any other way! It's essential to the series but not necessarily exciting.

I would recommend it to fans of the series, but definitely not a place to pop in and see if you like it. It's clean like the rest of the series' but remember, there "in love" now, so there's much more PDA and romantic talking.

Reread and golly if I still didn't hug it again as if it was the first time through. Marked up my copy a lot this time ahead of our book club meeting on Friday. ♥️ I'm taking Katie's Indian Summer Tea to our gathering.

As you wish is a book that you don't want to let go of. Robin Jones Gunn is such a talented writer and makes you feel like you’re in the story. This is a Christian based book that teaches you more and more about the Lord. This story is so magical, love in the air family and friends gathered around and times shared with the God.
As you wish is about Todd and Christy's big day!! Their wedding!! In the book before this one Todd proposes to Christy and of course the answer is yes, and now their wedding is right around the corner. They go ring shopping, tux shopping and Christy spends some time with her mom designing the perfect dress. When the big day comes sooner than they thought everyone is filling with excitement. The gorgeous Christy strides down the aisle with a smile spread across her face and Todd at the other end balling his eyes out. Soon enough Todd and Christy find an apartment near Christy’s work and Todd’s job as well. They are more than happy to finally be each other's mates and grow in the Lord and one another. Two things that I loved about this book was the storyline, it was such a fantastic and interesting storyline. Another thing I enjoyed about As you wish is the wedding date, Robin Jones Gunn described every detail and it made me think about my wedding day that I will have in my life. One thing I didn’t like about this book was that at the end it kind of just went from a magical moment to a regular day and nothing really exciting happened. The book was just right because it was a book about preparing for the wedding and then the wedding day, and it didn’t need to be anything else. I think this book with be great for Christian teens (more for girls) or maybe even woman who are about to get married. This book would help these girls about how they should keep a strong relationship with God and once they get married their spouse. I think that people should start to read this series because it’s such an amazing and moving book(s).

Rereading these books as an adult is certainly a different adventure, but one I have been loving. Christy and Todd played such a formative role in my development as a young person that I can't help but love every second I get to spend with them, especially as I haven't read these books in several years. I'm excited to experience the rest of their love story beyond their wedding day in the married and baby years trilogy.

All that being said, this book definitely isn't what I would call fantastic literature by my standards now that I'm in my 30s. However, these books have such a special place in my heart, I can't help but love them, flaws and all.

This is an interesting development in the relationship between Christy and Todd. I kept reading because I wanted to know what would happen and if they would actually end up together. I liked it, but thought that sometimes Christy's thoughts were repetitive or tedious. I'd still recommend though.

This is a cute romance novel for Christian teens that is a continuation of the Christy and Todd love story. Christy comes back to Rancho Corona University for her senior year of college to room with her best friend Katie Weldon. She starts to wonder about her future with her boyfriend Todd when a couple close to her considers divorcing. This a sweet novel that brings me back to my college days when I went to school at a Christian university.

I think this is the first “new” RJG book I did not read the moment it was released. I cannot remember reading it as a teenager, though I’m sure I did. I had forgotten all about Marti’s turn as an artist (and I don’t think it is ever mentioned again in the series) and all of the details about Todd’s childhood. Not a terribly memorable installment in the series - Christy evaluates her feelings and the entire book leads up to the events that take place in the final few pages.

Far better than the first in this series, but rather trite and not as compelling as I would have hoped in the beginning, though it does pick up about halfway through and I did like the end. It was creative and just sappy enough (though...dumpster flowers are not very "Todd" considering his incredible gifting ability. This was awkward.)
