This is a useful compendium of the most important features of Renaissance and Early Modern writing, featuring several different classifications and aspects in mostly alphabetical order. It also intersperses the most relevant literary texts whenever a particular term or genre is discussed, thereby explaining the most prevalent aspects of the current topic. Although it is really good to work with, especially if you're planning to look up some particular aspects/genres of that time period, its most prevalent characteristic, namely the structuring into little units that are presented in alphabetical order, also made it kind of difficult for me to read the book as a whole. There is not really a common thread throughout this book, leaving the various parts relatively "un-linked". But besides that, and as I said, especially if you simply want to read up on a particular aspect for your seminar or term paper, it is really good work of reference.
