I've set out to read all kinds of materials and books for an ISTQB certification and so far I have found it to be the most practical and helpful book that I've read.
What it has different is the point of view: it doesn't just fill you up with theory and glossary terms, but it presents you ways in which you can improve. It also helps put things into perspective if you want to have a better view over metrics and process improvements, which I found to be very important in my case.
