I love the region he wrote about, but I wish he had written about different topics and/or stories from that region. Also, there were too many direct calls for the reader to seek out his other articles, essays, and papers on related topics. Each section and chapter ended with such overt call-outs of his other writings, as if the book were merely a vehicle to promote his other writings.

I really enjoyed this book and have already ordered some of his other books as well as some of the books he mentions.
