Join eight hardworking machines for a day at the building site. Don Carter combines the irresistible lure of heavy machinery with simple learning concepts and bright dimensional art -- as vivid and appealing as the toys in the toy box.
I'm getting picky about construction truck books because I've read A LOT of them with my son. This one got several repeat reads and th little turtle that keeps appearing is a big hit. The story is nothing "wow" but the illustrations are rather engaging; my husband pointed out that it looks like they were done with cake frosting ;-)
The illustrations in this book are unique and captivating - it's kind of a wet paint type look. The subject matter is simple and there is a funny turtle that appears in each drawing that my son, who really enjoyed it, likes to locate.
The story is basic to non-existent, and not really remarkable at all, so I won't remark on it! :)

The art is pretty neat. That is all that I like about the book. My 2 year old daughter loves the book. I don't know why she likes it so much, but for whatever reason, she really enjoys it.
