Welcome to Black Diamond Resort and Spa…

I come from a long line of con artists and crooks.
In a family where money and power outweigh integrity, there’s only been one person I could always count on. My best friend, my other half, my twin; until he betrayed me.
Thanks to his lies, both my family and the media are breathing down my neck, giving me no choice but to ‘seek help’ at some fancy rehab resort.
Whatever.
I’ll do my time, go through the motions with this stupid five-step program, then wash my hands of this place and my past.
But why not have a good time while I’m here?
Specifically, with the mysterious man I feel a strong, undeniable pull toward.
At first, it’s just some fun—a way to decompress after everything I’ve been through. Only we grow closer, and I catch feelings, despite thinking I’d never trust anyone again.
Big mistake.
It turns out, the person I fell for is not who I thought he was. And I don’t know what’s worse—my shattered heart or the scandal that caused it.

Cute but nothing really happens, there were far too many loose ends and the plot just fell by the wayside.

I want to know why Austin was set up, considering that's the entire reason he gets shipped off. We never find out why his twin did it, how he got away with it, the motivation...we know nothing 😐

Also why was he at the resort not the rehab when the reason his dad sent him was to recover from how far gone he was with his supposed drug addiction? Nothing makes sense!!!

I want to know why his dad thought he had any control over what a twenty four year old does - is this a rich people thing? There was no real explanation for the dad's controlling behaviour. If he was so disgusted by his son being gay, why not disown him when he found out if he was just going to disown him as soon as he stopped being obedient anyway? The dad literally walked away after 'banishing' Austin to a tropical island and I didn't understand why he just went along with it like a mindless lemming, not once standing up for himself.

What does Austin actually do after he leaves California to get away from his family? We know he goes on a trip but I want to see his journey of self discovery more than I wanted to read about him getting drunk! How is he making money? How does he find Beck? What are they up to in the epilogue, other than having a snowball fight and making snow angels on a New York sidewalk, which sounds extremely gross - could not think of a worse place to lay down on the ground than a city street 🤢

The whole thing with Beck's job just felt weak too. He goes on a six week undercover assignment to a luxury resort but basically has himself a nice holiday! We never see him working, he shows no real investigative behaviour or instincts... I'd have fired him for not having journalistic instincts 😂

Also them saying they love each other for the first time when they're having sex....it was massively cringey and felt off.

I'm also confused about where Austin's self hatred for his appearance came from. If it was explained then I missed it, but one offhand comment from a kid when you're also a kid didn't seem like it was the reason. Again nothing was delved into or fully explained after being introduced and it just got frustrating.

So yeah, the idea was cute, the relationship was cute, but there was no substance and the plot was a flimsy excuse 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is another amazing addition to the shared Unlucky 13 universe. I’m a big fan of T Ashleigh’s writing and was so excited when she announced she’d be part of this series. I loved how we got some glimpses in this story of a few other characters and of course the amazing monkey Bob!

From the very start I loved Austin. He’s such a wonderful character that must be protected and I only wanted good things for him. He was so sweet and deserved so much better than what his life had been so far. I loved seeing how he began to grow during his time on the island and build his self-confidence. He gets hurt badly but I absolutely loved seeing how he came out of the hurt and found himself!

Beckett was an interesting character. It took me quite a while to warm up to him. The more I saw him though and saw how his feelings developed for Austin the more I liked him. By the end I loved him and even felt bad for him even though he hurt poor Austin.

I love how T Ashleigh can put together a story that is cute, fun, sexy and sweet at the same time and that makes you laugh and hurt a lot, but still end up with a HEA! This was a really great story and I absolutely recommend checking it out. I can’t wait to read more in this series!

⭐︎ 3.5 Stars Rounded Up! ⭐︎

Overall this was good and I really enjoyed Austin and Beck together. They were cute together and had good chemistry. Austin was a sweetheart from the get go and Beck took a little time, but I came to adore him as well.

Those are the major reasons for rounding this up instead of down. I enjoyed these two too much to give it less.

But, honestly, this went by way too fast. It was only about 200 pages and deserved at least another 50 or so pages.

There was good build up between these two - even though it all happened within 6 weeks - and all, but then the fall out happened a little too quickly.

Also, we didn't even learn why Austin's twin brother betrayed him like he did and why he seemed to hate him all the sudden. Was it just jealousy because he wanted their fathers' company? That seemed to be it, but we have to infer that and guess at it, which annoys me.

Like we never even really get anything with his brother even though this was seemingly the one important relationship he had his whole life? But in the end it didn't even matter, so what was the point it all of it? Just to get Austin and Beck to the same place?

Also we see none of Austin's journey of self discovery near the end, we just skip ahead in the story.

Something this author did with her last work, was just kinda rush the end to warp it up all in a neat bow, without really doing the work to get to the resolution, in my opinion. She did the same thing here, so points off for that.

If this was just somewhat a longer, the ending could have been really strong and wrapped up this story so well and this would have been a stronger book overall.

Still cute and fun, the romance was good and the chemistry was great, so those are all pluses. But there just needed to be more to this story. It wasn't a story that was easily wrapped up in just about 200 pages.

Unfortunate, as I know this author can do better.

Oh well, it's still pretty solid overall. Definitely a thumbs up from me. I'm still excited for the next work this author has for us, for sure.

Onto the next! 😍

Don't mind me over here singing T's praises yet again after this stunner of a read! The plot and characters were amazing and relatable and nothing about it felt unrealistic. The emotions were raw and unrelenting and my heart broke in half for Austin. I love a book where one MC is able to help the other realise and live to their full potential and this definitely ticked that box. There was so much vulnerability from Austin and Beckett was the perfect one to help him realise he is so worth all the love. The stereotypical journalist was thrown out the door when Beckett met Austin because he realised he could be so much better and I loved that. Overall this was such a beautiful story and I loved every moment of it!

Well, sometimes that first meeting, even when magical and perfect, isn't at the right moment in your life. Austin and Beckett end up at Black Diamond Resort and Spa and fall into a fast and beautiful friendship, but once feelings start happening, Beck is put in the hard spot of how and when to come clean. Too bad it's not in his hands, and Austin pays the price. With this pain, Austin is able to become the man he was always meant to be. Not gonna lie. I cried during the time apart but could see why it was necessary for Austin to find himself. Another amazing read from t ashleigh.

Such a fun, sexy, sweet story! I just loved both Beck and Austin. This was my first book by the author and I’ve added more of their books now to my TBR because it certainly won’t be the last. This series has certainly introduced me to some fantastic authors which is perfect.

Beckett started off so aloof and closed off and jaded, carry a bit of the past and Austin was timid, lonely, insecure, lost within his family and yet trying to find ways to be himself while hiding with a literal protective shell around him. When these two finally collide it changes both of them and that’s what I just loved seeing, both of them just open and vulnerable and strong.
Considering the massive secret hanging between them I wasn’t sure about Beck’s redemption and thought it was fairly expected. I definitely tend to need a little more grovelling or recompense to go with the coming forgiveness despite the clear emotional devastation we could see for Beck, but what made it absolutely work for me was Austin’s response - it was fantastic and I loved that.

Even though it’s not a very long read nothing felt rushed at all. I absolutely loved the conversational style of writing and the humour threaded through and none of the angst is overplayed. Also loved seeing Holden again.

All in all I really enjoyed it and would recommend reading it.

Expect:
* Opposites attract
* Relationship starts with subterfuge
* Virgin MC
* Bob’s back
* Blanket forts, Jenga and all sorts of adorableness

"It’s funny how you lose all sense of time once you’ve been broken. It’s like walking around in a daze while the rest of the world spins around you. That’s where I am. Lost."

Scandal by T.Ashleigh is book 10 in the standalone, multi-author, MM Unlucky 13 series, which is set around an all inclusive, private resort built exclusively for the troubled elite. This is Austin and Beckett's story.

This series has been a mixed bag of reads for me and Scandal is one of the lighter, sweeter and shorter books in the series.

❣️Opposites attract

Austin is damn near perfect. Perfect son. Doesn’t get into trouble. Does what he’s told. Donates food to the homeless. He may not be doing what he loves but he does it anyway. Then a Scandal happens. He’s photographed in a compromising position while on drugs. Except he’s sober and never went out? Looks like his identical twin doesn’t love him as much as he thought.

Beck is an undercover journalist and is beating himself up because he could’ve gotten that story about Austin. Luckily he’s so good at his job and knows Austin was sent to Black Diamond. A place no journalist has ever been able to set foot at. That doesn’t stop Beck though. He gets his ticket to the island for a groundbreaking story, but loses everything that matters in the process.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. It was a very quick read so it gets to the point right away. Most of it was based at Black Diamond, which I loved. Even though Beck is there undercover and is writing a story, him and Austin become fast friends. Then fall in love within the six weeks they are there. They break up and are apart for months. Austin finds himself and Beck just kinda loses himself without Austin in his life. Of course they find their way back to each other and live happily ever after.

It’s a cute story for what it was. I felt for Austin and felt bad for Beck. I didn’t feel like I got to know them as much as I would’ve liked to. Beck sort of bored me, I didn’t fall in love with him. He definitely fell flat. I didn’t like how we never found out why Austin’s brother pretended to be him and ruin his reputation. I understand he wanted to run his fathers business but it happened and then nothing was said again. Austin’s father sent him to the resort side of Black Diamond instead of the rehab side. Why? I didn’t understand that when he literally said he was on drugs and needed help. It was odd. I don’t know why that part wasn’t elaborated on. Kinda bothered me. I guess I wish this book would’ve been longer so all the Ts could’ve been crossed for me. Still liked it though.

𝗔𝗥𝗖 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪

Scandal is another great addition to the Unlucky 13 series & I liked this book so much. This series just gets more amazing with the authors that deliver beautiful & heartwarming stories which I am loving a lot.

Austin is the oldest twin in his family & is caught up in a scandal which was framed by his twin brother and is shipped to Black Diamond Resort away from the media. Austin was such an amazing character, I wanted to hug him. He is insecure about his birthmark which had caused people to stare at him or treat him like he has some disease because of this he is shy and always wears long-sleeved shirts & jeans.

Beckett is an undercover reporter who is staying in Black Diamond Resort to write a story about it but also is there to get more information on Austin. He was another amazing character with playfulness but he also had his past but also once he got to know Austin he cared for him.

Austin & Beck had beautiful chemistry, where Austin was shy but he was captured by Beck's soul-sucking eyes so he talked to him so much while on the other hand, Beck kept his talk short because he was lying to him. I liked how Beck opened up about his past with Austin because he trusted him & started to fall for him fast. They both had fallen in love with each other fast & it was beautiful to see Beck caring for Austin & encouraging him to love himself.
Even though they hurt each other, I was glad they found their HEA at the right moment because I was so proud of Austin for finding himself & loving himself first and being comfortable in his skin.

The author has written this story so beautifully, it has everything I liked about T. Ashleigh's writing & damn you can't forget Bob the monkey, I liked his scene with Holden & Beck at the bar, I was laughing so much at his antics. Overall, this book was amazing & I recommend you check it out.

A SECRET IDENTITY HOLIDAY LOVE!

This is the tenth book of the Unlucky 13 series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Betrayal of the worst kind by his twin brother Aaron leads Austin O’ Kane to Black Diamond Resort where he stumbles upon an unexpected surprise- undercover reporter Beck Taylor- aka Beckett Taylor

Playboy extraordinaire and commitment shy Beckett Taylor gets the assignment of his dreams- uncover the mystery of Black Diamond Resort and scandalised party playboy Austin O‘ Kane but instead he meets the man of his dreams- shy, naive and cute sassy reclusive virgin-Austin O’Kane who sweeps him off his commitment shy feet!

I loved how awkward they were in the beginning when trying to become friends to while away the boredom but the attraction and chemistry was too distracting!

I loved the character growth of Austin with Becketts sweet and patient guidance regarding his birthmarks and virginity not forgetting Becketts amazing character growth regarding his player ways and the walls he built around his heart that Austin breaks down brick by brick… but what will happen when Becketts real occupation is revealed?

Will Austin give Beckett another chance or will it just be a holiday romance?..
What’s the deal with the bartender Holdens crazy klepto monkey- Bob that scares the living heck out of Austin?..

A sweet, funny love story about acceptance, self love, forgiveness and finding your perfect person penned by the talented author T. Ashleigh!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Second Chances…

I really loved Austin and Beckett! Their connection was sweet but with Beckett’s secret looming I knew it would backfire.

Austin was set up by his twin brother and was carted off to the Black Diamond. Austin was just a character that melted and broke your heart at the same time.

Beckett is an undercover reporter looking for a story but what he got was so much more. Sent to the Black Diamond to get a story of the island and of Austin but what he found wasn’t anything he expected.
You begin to see great character development and growth. Austin with believing in himself, overcoming his birthmark and for finally standing up for himself against his father and brother.
Beckett is only out to get the next great story until he gets to know Austin. He finally finds someone that makes him want to be a better man.
This was a perfect snack sized love story. I just wanted a little more about Austin’s brother and father. I would have liked to see karma bite his brother and reveal that it was him in the pictures all along.

This was a sweet little read! Undercover reporter Beck Taylor is sent to the Black Diamond Resort and Spa to try and get the scoop on the mysterious location for the rich and famous, as well as looking into young businessman Austin O’Kane.

Austin works for his CEO father’s business and is being primed to take over. After a betrayal from his twin brother frames him in a compromising position, Austin is sent to the Black Diamond Resort and Spa to hide out for a while.

The attraction that Beck and Austin feel is instantaneous and very sweet! Austin is self-conscious over birthmarks on his body and watching him get more confident with Beck’s encouragement was really lovely to see. Also super fun to see more of Bob and Holden!!

Read for:
✨ Journalist x wealthy upcoming-CEO
✨ Virgin MC, first times
✨ MC with birthmarks (port wine stains)
✨ Coming to be comfortable in your own body

I'm loving the unlucky 13 shared world and this was another great addition.

I really like how their all so different but have the same vibes. This one was a lighter read, short and sweet, good contrast to the amazing Jessie who I know is going to break my heart in her book next. And I'm ready for it!

Island Romance!

This was my first story in the Unlucky 13 universe. I’m a big fan of T Ashleigh’s writing so I grabbed this right away. It completely stands alone just great! I loved Austin right from the very start. He’s such a wonderful character who was battling some deep insecurities, and a pretty terrible family that treated him poorly. He deserved so much better and I only wanted good things for him.
Beckett, on the other hand, took me a bit to warm up to. At first I wasn't sure of his angle, but the more time he spent with Austin, and the more you start to see his true feelings shining through, the more and more I liked him. Their time falling in love on the island was so sweet with the perfect amount of heat! I adored how tender Beck was with Austin as they navigated Austin's first times and his hang ups with his body. And although I'm not a huge fan of the big misunderstanding that unravels everything, it was really handled perfectly here. I absolutely loved seeing Austin grow and find himself and build his self-confidence. Overall the book was cute, sexy and sweet with a great HEA!

Out of context spoilers ahead:

- “…Too bad I don’t have a special someone to share my broken pieces with.”
- Bob is back.
- .
- .
- “I think you're fun in any state. I like that about you. You’ve got a lot of different sides.”
- .
- “You’re nothing like I expected.”
- .
- .
- “I know. I feel it, too. I feel it all for you.”
- .
- “…and I’m ready to go figure out who the hell Austin O’Kane is.”
- .
- “Because if I’m ever going to be able to love Beck the way he deserves, I need to learn how to love myself first.”

….

Let just say I pushed through. What I appreciated was the time between learning to love yourself first before loving someone. So let’s leave it that.

What I am taking with me:

🌊. Bob.

🌴. “You’re beautiful, Austin.”

🌊. Blanket fort.

🌴. “Hey, Beck.”

I’m going to keep this review split into two parts. The first will be a spoiler free, basic overview and then the second will be have my more in-depth spoiler-y thoughts!

Okay so first things first, I have completely devoured this entire series and besides a couple of the other books I have loved them all so much. So I was super antsy waiting for Scandal to come out today!

Scandal is the story of Austin, one half of the twin siblings of a wealthy CEO in LA. Austin, having a large birthmark that partially covers his face, torso and legs, has spent most of his life hiding his body and himself from the world because of his deep insecurity.

Beckett, a tabloid journalist comes across who he thinks is Austin talking about drugging a friend in the alleyway of a club. The next day a story breaks with photos of Austin in a compromising position resulting in Austin being sent to Black Diamond to get away from the spotlight until the story dies down. Beckett, seeing an opportunity for a massive story decides to go undercover and follow him to Black Diamond.

Beckett could’ve never guessed that the Austin he meets is nothing like the Austin he expected to find.

Alright, I’m just gonna put it bluntly. This book had so much potential and fell so flat. I genuinely liked Austin and Becketts characters, the problem was that we only got to see so much of them. There was a little backstory but just the bare minimum. We see more of Beckett and his friends than we do of Austin’s home life.

Scandal fell victim to what happens in a lot of books: rushed ending syndrome. We got two chapters after they leave Black Diamond, only one of which shows Austin and Beckett together. It was so incredibly rushed and felt disappointing. There were also some major things left out that I wish would’ve been explained/explored that I’ll get into in the spoiler section of my review.

Also, the goddamn monkey. I’m sorry, it’s the same thing I said in my review for Exception by Cora Rose - why is there randomly some monkey that’s not in any of the other books? It throws off the continuity and is such an odd addition. I’m just glad we didn’t see more of the monkey than the MC’s like we did in Exception.

Now for the spoilers!
‼️‼️‼️🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨‼️‼️‼️

I’m serious don’t read any further if you don’t want anything ruined for you.

‼️‼️‼️🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨‼️‼️‼️

Seriously turn back now.

Alright, so clearly it wasn’t Austin that drugged that random guy at the club. It also wasn’t Austin that was photographed doing drugs during an orgy or whatever it was. But it’s NEVER explained. Austin knows that his brother set him up but it’s never talked about how or why he did it. Using context clues at the end of the book when Austin tells his dad to shove it, it implies that Aaron was trying to get Austin shoved to the side so that he could take over their dads company instead. But that’s all we get. Like seriously. No further details at all and Aaron never faces any consequences.

Once Austin leaves California on his version of Eat, Pray, Love we don’t get to see any of it. When he finally meets back up with Beck after an 8 month time jump he talks about traveling and doing auyahsca to find himself but we don’t actually get to see any of that. All of his personal growth happens off page.

Also, Beckett is sent to this ridiculously expensive private island resort and comes back with a broken heart and no story and still gets promoted and sent to New York? I’m sorry but that would never happen. Never in a million years.

I’m just bummed. Austin and Beckett were so cute together and I loved all of the scenes with them and just wish there had been more. I wish we could’ve seen how they spent their time apart and way more of their life once they got back together.

At less than 200 pages this could’ve easily been another 150+ pages and would’ve been fantastic. More backstory, more story dealing with Aaron and his motivations/actions and just more in general.

All in all, this is probably a 2.5 rounded up for me.

Well, another amazing story in this series that has the Black Diamond Resort as a common point, this time, from the hand of T. Ashleigh.

Scandal stars Austin and Beck. I loved them both, but Austin was really special.
He is involved in a scandal by his twin brother, without really having anything to do with it. He lives a quiet life and quite isolated from everyone due to his shy nature and a certain birthmark that has given him a complex since he was little, and he wants nothing more than to be freed from the family obligations that his father imposes on him, but he cannot find the courage to do it. But his brother's betrayal, the subsequent trip to the resort (forced by his father until the scandal is over) and the meeting with Beck begin to transform him inside, to accept himself and see himself in a different light, until he is also, in some way, betrayed by Beck. But this, despite being so painful, instead of breaking him down, it's what ultimately gives him the drive to confront his father, and break away from his family.

Beck is an ambitious journalist with a difficult past who is looking for the big story that will end up making him successful and get him the promotion he's been waiting for, and he thinks Austin (or who he thought was Austin) and the resort is the way to achieve it. To do this, he travels undercover to Black Diamond. But once he meets Austin, he realizes he can't do it, he just want to be with Austin, but he knows the days of that relationship are numbered. Once Austin finds out who he really is, it would be their last day together. And finally the day comes.

To say that it was painful to see them go their separate ways is an understatement, they were wonderful together. But they both have a long way to go to heal and finally be together.

Now, the reason why I don't give it 5 stars, is because the story seems incomplete and I explain it below:

1-Although we may suspect why Aaron betrays Austin like this, I think a confrontation between them was necessary. As well as why he chose Jett as a target to carry out said betrayal (although we will probably be able to discover that in Shattered, one of the next books? I really hope so !!)
2- At some point, being an entertainment journalist etc, how come Becket doesn't inquire about that photo? Especially after meeting Austin. I mean, I'd like to know why someone would want to ruin the man I'm supposed to love like that. And how they did it. Or at least, ask Austin about it?
3- I don't understand Austin's father's whim of wanting him to inherit the family business. I mean, someone as shy and socially awkward as Austin... just doesn't fit for that position. And when on the other hand, he has another son the same age who is perfect to fill that position. Yes, it's kind of weird that he's so adamant that it's Austin who has to take the reins.
4- It would have been nice to see Austin's journey of self-discovery. Those 8 months were covered in one paragraph, and I think that was a mistake. Something more detailed would have added a lot to the story.

But overall, it was a beautiful story of personal growth, acceptance, and love.

I was given an advanced copy and wrote voluntarily a review.

Scandal by Author T. Ashleigh is a standalone novel in the Black Diamond series. The Black Diamond novels are all standalone MM books written by various authors set (at least partially) at the Black Diamond resort/rehabilitation center for the rich and famous. Each book features it’s own main couple and can be read as a complete standalone. The books do not have to be read in order. There may be very high-level mentions of the other characters from the other books, but you won’t be missing anything by reading out of release order.

Scandal features the main couple Austin and Beckett. Austin is the rich (well his father is rich) character is this duo that gets sent to Black Diamond resort after he is framed in the media by his twin brother for questionable actions that he did not partake in. Austin is shy and reserved, lacks confidence due to his birth marks, spends his days volunteering his time, and would prefer to live outside of the media spotlight. Beck is a media reporter who gets sent to the Black Diamond resort under a false identity for the insider scoop on this mysterious resort. He is a self-labeled playboy who after losing most people in his life has decided to not spend time making romantic connections. He has a found family in his two best friends & co-workers who were part of the foster system he was raised in.

Austin and Beck are so cute from the very beginning. You can clearly see the sparks between them although they grow their friendship before diving into any serious romantic feelings. Beck is so supportive of Austin and helps him grow into a more confident person. I really loved the message of learning to love yourself regardless of what others see. Austin in turn helped Beck realize there was more to life than having a good time and forming relationships was a good thing. Naturally there has to be some angst and the duo did meet somewhat under false pretenses with Beck hiding his true career. Austin comes to learn the truth before Beck was able to come clean, so you’ll have to push through some tough chapters. Most of the book is on the lighthearted and happy side, so a bit of angst was a nice change of pace to keep things interesting. Obviously, the book has a HEA, so the two eventually work things out, but they each go through serious growth. Overall, I really enjoy Austin and Beck’s story and look forward to reading more from the Black Diamond series. Scandal was a super fast read for me, so it’s perfect if you are looking for a quick, fun story.

Scandal by T. Ashleigh is a Black Diamond novel in the standalone, multi-author Unlucky 13 series. This MM romance story is about Austin and Beckett.

Austin is betrayed by his family and sent to the Black Diamond Resort for a scandal he wasn't even involved in. Thankfully he was able to get a bungalow on the resort side of the island where he can escape from reality. Beckett is a reporter sent by his work to go undercover to the Black Diamond Resort, and is also staying in a bungalow on the resort side of the island. Austin and Beck have a chance meeting and quickly start hanging out together. I loved when Beck was able to make Austin feel more comfortable in his skin, and I loved how Austin was able to get Beck to open up about his past. I really enjoyed seeing them develop feelings for each other, and I absolutely loved when they finally acted on it. Their chemistry was amazing and their connection was beautiful. Therefore, it was heartbreaking for Austin to discover the truth. I was mad at Beck, but I also felt bad for him. I was totally crying when they left the Black Diamond Resort. It was very moving to see how much Beck was affected by Austin, and as much as I wanted them to be together, I was happy Austin didn't run right back to Beck. Austin took the time to truly find and love himself. I was so happy with the ending, but to be honest it also made me sad. I was sad that we didn't get more of them. I needed more of Austin and Beck! This was another hit for me in this Unlucky 13 series!

3,5 ⭐ (rounded up to 4)
2 🌶️

🙈 Secret identity / undercover
🙉 Low angst
🙊 Scandal with a twist

"The problem with the world is that we’re so busy judging people on the things they lack rather than complimenting the positive things they have."

Scandal is book 10 in the Unlucky 13 series (interconnected standalones).
It follows the story of Austin and Beck.
Austin is involved in a scandal with his twin brother, and Beck is a undercover reporter trying to discover Black Diamond well hidden secrets.

I really loved both characters, Austin's shyness and Beck's intensity. I really loved the way Beck was instantly attracted to Austin and how he made him beautiful despite his complexes ❤️🖤

Despite the fact that I loved the story and the characters, it still feels incomplete.

Last, there is something that I can't let go : Joker is a DC character, not Marvel 😭😭😭 unless I didn't get that joke....

“I don't even know him, but he makes me feel human. Like I'm not something broken, in desperate need of fixing. How is it that someone I barely know can stir up such deep emotions?”

T. Ashleigh has written a beautiful story with two amazing characters who share an amazing journey, some heavy secrets and an intense love.

Austin is such a beautiful soul who deserves much better in life, from his family, from society and from Beck. I would have liked to have seen more of his story, his history and what exactly happened with the picture that set everything in motion. I loved seeing him open up and becoming his own person.

I had reservations about Beck, I understood his secrets but wished he would have made different choices. He hurts Austin, he always knew he would hurt him and that rubs me the wrong way. But it is the catalyst for Austin to find himself and choice himself as he is, which gives it a beauty in a way. He redeems himself and betters himself as a person.

“Last night was everything I wanted and more. He was sweet, gentle, and made me feel beautiful in my skin, for probably the first time in my life. I didn't realize sex and relationships could be like this. He makes me feel special.
Like I matter.”

"He was everything I didn't know I was trying to find. The connection alone was like nothing I've ever experienced.
And so quickly. He had me hooked from the start. I tried to push away the feelings, but it didn't work. He just dug so deeply under my skin that by the time I realized it was happening, it was too late."

Another amazing story in the Unlucky 13 universe, a story about accepting yourself and forgiveness. Finding their HEA together in a good place just the way I love a good story to end!

Definitely my favorite of this series so far! I’m also just a big fan of T. Ashleigh. In this latest book of the series, we follow Austin and Beck. Austin is quiet, a bit awkward, and does whatever he can to stay out of the spotlight. His dad is not a fan of his but has no problem using him when he sees fit. And Austin’s twin brother was his best friend… until he betrayed Austin. Though they are identical twins, Austin has birthmarks on his body that he is super self conscious about and it doesn’t help when others, including his own family, have negative comments about it. So when a picture turns up on the internet of him (scars included) of doing some shady things, how can anyone believe it is anyone but him? Aaron set him up and when no one believes him, he gets shipped to Black Diamond to be out of the way. Beck is a reporter and is sent to Black Diamond undercover to find a story on the island and Austin. Though Black Diamond protects its guests with a crazy amount of NDAs, Beck’s boss has hopes they can think of something. But the moment Beck meets Austin, he knows he is in trouble. He is nothing like he expected and the more the spend time together and fall for one another, the harder it is to come clean about why he is on the island to begin with. But maybe there is hope for these two yet! I really adored this story. I love T. Ashleigh’s writing style and the banter and chemistry between Austin and Beck was really sweet. You know things won’t be easy once the truth is revealed but you can’t help but hope for these two to find their way back to one another! Really loved this story!

I really enjoyed this story about Beck and Austin!
I have not read all of the Unlucky 13 Black Diamond Resort books but since they can all be standalones I was not lost at all in this world.

Austin gets sent to the island by his father after a false scandal. Beck goes to the island as an undercover reporter. These two have a pretty instant connection, not insta love. They get to know each other and feelings develop.

As Beck’s feelings grow he is worried about how Austin will take it when he finds out who he is.

Austin had pretty low self esteem and because of birthmarks was ashamed of his body. Beck was incredibly wonderful and worked to build Austin’s self esteem.

This story was not over the top steamy but the feelings were all there which was just as good to me as if there would have been more steam. This book also did not have heavy angst. It was the perfect amount for the situation Beck and Austin were in.

I do wish we would have found out why Aaron did what he did to Austin. But I was proud that Austin did stand up for himself with his father using some of his confidence he got from the island.

I enjoyed this story and watching Beck and Austin get their HEA. I’m excited to see what is next from T. Ashleigh!
