Years ago, Nia Davenport dreamed of jumping the broom, buying a large house in the suburbs, and having a couple of brown, gap-toothed babies with her childhood crush, Darius Adams. Yet, she watched and waited while he dated everyone but her, hoping the day would come when he’d realize he was just as much in love with her as she was with him. Now, a little over a decade later, life has gone on, and her feelings have faded along with the memories. That is until she shares a fateful meeting in the produce section with the man who crushed her heart in high school. Although now, he’s six-foot-two with smooth, butterscotch skin and a smile that could turn any woman’s knees to water. He’s far from the coil-haired, country boy she fell in love with as an adolescent. Yet, the mere sound of his voice makes her feel fifteen again. After their encounter, she realizes the old saying is true–younever forget your first love. There’s only one thing standing in the way of their second chance; he’s got a wife who won’t back down easily.
Lennox Adams knows exactly who she married. She has no plans on trading in her diamond ring for a divorce lawyer, especially since they share a child and years’ worth of secrets that Darius’s extramarital affair just may push her to reveal. Scorned and feeling like the outcast in her own relationship, Lennox will stop at nothing to show that behind every deadly man is an even more ruthless woman.
Nia soon realizes she’s entangled herself in a gut-wrenching love triangle with her lover’s manic wife pulling all the strings. As she unearths more of Darius’s past, she’s hit with a revelation so raw, it makes her question if the man she’s been in love with all these years is really who he portrays himself to be. Could his clean-cut exterior and gallant charm be hiding the monster within? She survived leaving him in her past once before, but will death do them part before she can do it again?
This novel was originally released and titled Where He Belongs.
Nia Davenport has always had a thing for Darius Adams. While giving herself to him, she watched him entertain other women…for years. A chance meeting in the grocery store and she's right back under his spell. Only this time, he's married with a child.
Darius is the perfect definition of a man who is manipulative, controlling and narcissistic. He used his charm to reel these women in, and then playing with their emotions. I don't know which one was worse…Nia or Lennox. Whereas Nia is goofy, Lennox is conniving.
There are so many secrets that are revealed in this book…many of which you will not see coming. Words cannot express how many times I wanted to throw it across the room. At times, I wish I could've rated the the pages and slapped some sense into these women. This is not my first read by @authorklhall, but it is certainly my favorite…so far. I'm looking forward to reading more of her catalog and recommending them to others.
It was a good stort but I couldnt stand not ONE of the characters. Ive never been so mad reading a book, ever! Nia with her selfishness, Darius was clearly unhinged the moment we met him and Lennox was off the rocker too. I didnt want none of them to win. Amd I felt Nia got everything that was coming to her because I dont know what made her think that she should mess with Darius in the first place. Im probably biased because Im married, but like I said, it was a good story...I just wasnt rooting for anyone and even though it ended well, I cant quite say I think Nia deserved it.
Talk about screaming at the main characters in this book...it was madness on steroids. It was like watching a train wreck never taking your eyes off of it even knowing the outcome is traumatic, triggering. Nia...lawd hammercy...how many red flags do you need to witness before running for your life? Darius was the ultimate f*** boy and he was unapologetic about it. This story took me on a nail biting journey and when it wrapped up...whew...I am exhausted. If you need a turn up of emotions while reading this book truly qualifies.
I downloaded this book because I thought it was going to be messy (which it was) but the characters were also, for a lack of better words, sad. (And I don’t mean sad as in “sorrowful”. I mean sad as in “deplorable”.) Nia was gullible and didn’t know her worth, Darius was selfish and a professional liar and manipulator, and Lennox was desperately trying to hold onto something she should’ve let go.
“Entanglements” is well-written and has a lot going on to keep a reader entertained, but tbh I thought about not finishing it. I just didn’t like any of the leads. The only character I liked was Chesnee, and even that became a little iffy after she co-signed Nia and Darius’s relationship for a little bit.
🚨ENTERING SPOILERS🚨
Based on the cover (the version with two women and one man), I assumed Darius, Nia, and Lennox were going to agree to be in a poly relationship. This story did NOT go the way I thought it would.
Monogamy isn’t for everyone and instead of Darius admitting that to himself and others, he’d rather lie. K. L. Hall wrote Darius’s character so manipulative and so good at gaslighting that even I started believing some of his lies even though I knew they were lies 😅
“After the Pain” by Betty Wright is perfect for Nia (and maybe even Lennox). Just delusional af, man lol. There’s being blinded by love and there’s being dumb. Nia was the latter. Like girl you don’t have to be this dumb at your big age. You’re choosing to be. Even Lennox was trying to get Nia to see the light.
Common sense just wasn’t clicking in Nia’s brain at all before she got locked up. When Darius talked to her about wanting to kill Lennox, I was like “bitch, do you think this is a normal conversation?!” I seriously didn’t understand why the alarm bells weren’t going off in Nia’s head.
As for Lennox, I didn’t like that she was written to have a mental illness to justify her being erratic sometimes. Just dealing with Darius all them damn years is enough to drive someone to the edge. And I was pretty much on her side until she pulled that gun out on Nia. Like girl punch the heffa and report her for B&E or something lol.
In the end, I do believe that Darius loved Nia. I also believe that Darius loved himself (and maybe the kids that he acknowledged) more than anything or anyone else and would do what’s best for him. Even if that means getting rid of Nia or giving her up to the police. But really that 🥷🏾 needed hella therapy and to be by himself for a minute.
Anyway, to tie this review up, I lowkey don’t like that Nia got a happy ending, Lennox deserved better and Darius should’ve been maimed or suffered in prison or something. Again, I didn’t like the characters because they’re trash individuals. Not because of K. L. Hall’s storytelling. The fact that I’m beefed out with these fictional ass people should attest to her writing ability lol.
I could relate to a lot of what was in the book. You think you have found the man of your dreams only to find out you are just a notch on his belt. This book will far exceed your expectations. I couldn’t stop reading it & wanted to cry when it ended bc it was so good! It had a love story, 🔥🔥🔥🔥 sex, manipulation, adultery, a shooting accident, a cover up, baby momma, murder for hire, a jail sentence, a birth & a ride or die love interest. K.L. Hall is one of the best authors out there. Thank you K.L. Hall!
Whew! "Entanglements" starandted off slowly, like a rollercoaster car inching its way along the track until it tops that first steep hill, then BAM! Hold on for your dear life, because it's going to be a hella ride! At first,I was sooo mad at Nia Davenport for being sucked in by Darius Adams' obvious shadiness, then, like a train wreck, it kept getting worse and worse unit you judt could not look away! Twists and turns that were so totally unexpected that I was compelled to keep going until I finished the book! Exceptional read, Ms. K. L. Hall!
Lord now this was one crazy, wild read but I love it. That Darius Adams was scum and a low life the games this man was playing just crazy. And Nia Davenport dumb not bright at all, I didn't like in the beginning she knew what it was with Darius and her best Friend Chesnee try telling her. Lennox for what it's worth I like Her yes; she had Mental Health. What I really like about was when Nia excepted Darius drop everything especially with what happened with her farther. This was a real page turner, the drama, secrets I couldn't get enough can't wait to read by this Author.
This was my first read by this author and she didn’t disappoint me at all. Let’s talk about Nia aka BIG GOOFY how that’s all I’m going to say but I’m happy she got her happy ending. Darius I didn’t like him from the beginning I’m glad he got exactly what he deserved. I felt bad for Lennox poor thing. Westley I loved him he was a sweetheart. Chesne everyone destves a bestie like her she kept it real and raw straight no chaser.
This was my 1st read of the new year, and I binged it was so interesting! This story is the reason you don't get involved with married men. Nia was wrong for even getting involved to start, and Darius just didn't give two f** about anyone but himself. Everyone lost in this story, but I did dig Westley as the come through man. .
KL Hall books be like…. 💀lol! I swear Nia was really making me mad. I don’t know who was worse her or Darius. Okay… yes I do but dang! He was a habitual liar and she was a pushover. She finally gets grown at the end of the book. I was shaking my head the whole until the end.
Made me mad but I could not put it down!!!! Nia..dumb. Just dumb. However could not see she was being manipulated. Darius…a bastard. Now not going to say anything else as it will be telling the book. Read it! It will keep you glued!!!!
This book has twist after twist ! I loved this book with everything in me! I never seen any of it coming! If you want the suspense and the drama, this is the book for you!
This book was a ride! Nia… girl… she was a mess. Ignored all the red flags and rarely ever made good decisions. I loved the book and all the twist and turns.
