Love this series so much - the weaving of myths, history, quantum physics, astology and well everything is just stunning

Please bear in mind that this is book 2 and may therefore contain spoilers for the first book.

The story picks up a few months after the ending of Prophecy of Days with Caity back in the castle in Scotland ready to tackle the next part of the prophecy and find a way to stop the evil Fraternitas. In order to do this Caity has to travel to some remote places in order to crack the code which is all tied up in the 3 Hares/Flower of Life symbol.

Although I love the basic story-line of these books and the way it ties in ancient prophecies with conspiracy theories just blows me away. I have to say what really stood out for me was the amazing amount of research and knowledge Christy has. Mythology, history, quantum physics and astrology all tie together in the most profound way. To have a book make you think about the evolution of the planet and how a simple thing can affect just about everything was simply breath taking. I do not feel I am doing this book justice. The most complex of subject matter is delivered with flair and comprehension making it easy to follow. It made me think that this was the way forward, looking at ancient civilizations may provide the necessary tools to evolve and create a better planet. It also showed how far-reaching an effect the smallest thing can have.

Aside from these elements woven into the plot, the book contains action, adventure and romance. The characterizations are intriguing, not everyone is what they seem and individuals cannot be taken at face value. Interactions are often surprising adding to the dynamics of the book. Plus the origami folding monkey, Mr Papers, how can I not mention him.

I find myself wanting to go into the intricacies of the plot so I think I need to stop writing. However, I urge you to read this series, you won't regret it and then we can solve all the worlds problems together. Go read it NOW.

Picking up directly where The Daykeeper’s Grimoire left off, The Serpent’s Coil finds Caity in even deeper water and the stakes are even higher. As with its predecessor, this second book in the Prophecy of Days series is chock full of some of the most intelligent storytelling I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. There were moments that I had to reread sections, just so I could completely comprehend what was happening. This isn’t a bad thing though.

With information about the Mayan calendar, ancient cultures, philosophy, religion, and even astronomy, The Serpent’s Coil is vast in its subject matter, but entirely plausible. I’m truly astonished with the amount research Christy Raedeke must have put into this series; not only that, but Raedeke breaks it down for the reader to understand and really get.

In the short span between books, Caity has grown so much. Learning about the Mayan calendar and the prophecy that comes with her heritage has made Caity a much more mature character, but she still has that zeal of innocence to her that makes her quite endearing. Mr. Papers is back too, which will forever be a great thing because cute, super smart monkeys that communicate with origami are always made of win.

Getting to know Caity’s friend Justine is like walking in on the epitome of best friendom. And, of course the possibility of a romance with Scottish lad Alex still lingers in the air, but the best thing about it, is that it never controls the story. Caity’s tale isn’t about her relationship with a boy or even her relationship with her best friend; it’s about so much more and I hope many more people give this series a shot.

Christy Raedeke has another winner with The Serpent’s Coil. The mythology/history that she described in The Daykeeper’s Grimoire is expanded upon and she delves much deeper into her characters. I have a feeling that readers will be pleasantly surprised by how stimulating the Prophecy of Days series can be. It’s a little bit mystery, a little bit conspiracy, and a lot of story. Readers who love a well-told, complex story, will adore this series.

Oh My Word…This was SOOO Good! Dare I say I liked it even more than The Daykeeper’s Grimoire??

Serpent’s Coil picks up right where Grimoire left off. Caity’s Mom and Dad are on their way to San Francisco to deal with their house that burned down. And Caity needs to figure out where she is going to go to school now that they will be remaining in Scotland. She stumbles across a kind of “alternative” boarding school that focuses on what the student wants to learn about and they build a curriculum to fit…a real humanities based learning system. This would provide a means for Caity to get to China in search of Uncle Li. Now the trick is to convince Justine and her parents that Justine needs to go to this same school as well.

How did I love this book…let me count the ways. Ms. Raedeke created my dream school…I’d enroll today if there there were such a school and I could afford to go! LOL. Learning through travel, what a wonderful way to accomplish Caity’s goals! I loved that Justine was able to enroll alongside Caity. Justine was a great balance for Caity…especially when the author could have taken the romance route and had Alex go. That’s another thing I loved…you knew there was a budding romance between Caity and Alex but it was always in the background and didn’t compete with the tone or message of the book.

Once again Ms. Raedeke had me finishing the book and heading straight to the computer to research the some of the plotlines. If they were a total fabrication, she did a great job of convincing me it was legitimate…and if it was the real deal…then DAMN, that woman can research! Then she can take what she learns and build it into a completely engaging story that serves to educate the layman in plain English while not “dumbing it down”.

Ms Raedeke, once again, you have amazed me! So excited to see what you write next!!!

This was one of the best books I ever read! I could not put down this book, it was suspenseful and interesting with some laugh out loud parts and a bit of romance thrown in. I just got pulled into the book and felt like I was one of the characters. I literally stayed up half the night finishing this book on Monday night (which might just explain why I looked exhausted in class Tues, oops). There was the perfect amount of mystery and fantasy mixed together to make a book that could have been tailor made to fit my reading needs.

My favorite part of the book was when Caity found out that Uncle Li was not a traitor after all. This was a big relief for Caity because it meant that she had one more person who she could trust and one that was an old friend, Uncle Li also meant a lot to Caity, he was one of her oldest and closest friends, he had known her since birth. This was a really great part of the story because I felt bad for Caity because of all her responsibilities, this was one less sorrow to weigh her down. My least favorite part was wehn she thought that all hope was lost. This was really near the end of the book so it tricked me into thinking that there would be an unhappy ending that didn;t wrap things up so I felt disappointed in the author because her work so far had been so amazing. I also didn't like it because I couldn't help feeling connected to Caity so it mad me sad to see her spirits so low. I would recommend this book to any readers who want a fast paced mystery that they will never be able to put down.

I absolutely love the mythology in this series because it is so interesting and blows my mind. I think Raedeke does a superb job with that, it holds my attention so well. Even though I would probably be terrified if I tried to do what Caity is doing it is still a lot of fun to read. The mixture of science with the Mayan culture etc. is so cool and I love delving deeper into the mystery. I love getting to explore the world with Caity and I love that she lives in a castle in Scotland, how cool is that? Alright I will stay vague because I don't want to give anything away because it is a fascinating read. All I want to add is to say I told you so Caity, but hey it happens! Oh and the school Caity and Justine go to is so cool and there are some interesting surprises along the way!

I love Caity as an MC because she is awesome, she definitely kicks butt and tries her best not to give up. She was thrown into this mess and she does whatever she can to keep going. And when she can't she has her awesome friend Justine to help her. Then there is Alex who I adore, I just wish there had been more of him in this book. The romance was slightly lacking for me in this book, but that's okay because I was totally into the mythology and the adventure. Also Caity's parents are pretty cool. And Mr. Papers is freaking awesome!!

I really enjoyed this installment in this series and I hope there will be more. I highly recommend it if you like mythology, science and adventure.

I had finished The Daykeeper's Grimoire (Prophecy of Days, #1) a while ago so I was worried that reading this after a big break would not make sense. I shouldn't have worried, although we pick up straight were we left off in book 1, you don't miss out on anything.

The Serpents Coil focuses more on the Mayan Calender, Flower of Life, The Three Hares and other relevant ancient symbols. We follow Caity and Justine as they travel around the world, following clues and solving the mystery of the symbols all while trying to rescue Uncle Li.

If I was to read the information that is given in this book on a piece of paper I would not even attempt to read it, but in this book you can't help but want to continue reading to see what happens next.

I am unsure whether this is the last book in the series or if there are more to follow, it ends in a way that can lead to both resolutions.

With The Serpent's Coil I was very scared because in all actuality I read book one when it first came out but never reviewed it (fixed my mistake now) I was actually pretty certain that I would be so lost because it had been a long space of time. However I had NOTHING to worry about, it picked right up from book one and you fell right into the story again. Not to mention in love with the characters.

We deal with many things in The Serpent's Coil such as the Mayan Calender, Three Hares, Flower Of Life, not to mention other ancient symbols and hieroglyphics. I know all this stuff is mind blowing but it certainly kept me turning the pages one after the other.

Anyone happen to know if this is the last book in the series? Cause I was completely uncertain, they left it off in such a way that it culd be the end or have more... Either way, take a chance and read this book!

Epic ending to an epic series. Actually, I don't really know if it's the end of the series. I wish it wasn't, but the ending to this book really implied it was, though I could see how the author could squeeze out a third...

Anyway, I absolutely loved it. Most of the time it was hard to guess what would come next (like with Donald and Barend Schlacter in Caity's motel room), though, as with every generalization, there were some exceptions. But certainly not many.

If Christy Raedeke doesn't continue the series, I hope at the very least that she will continue to write.

What was so mind-blowing about this book is that most of the facts it mentions - The Three Hares beginning a sequence in the Flower of Life, the Flower of Life's relation to the torus, the human heart generating a force field in a shape of a torus, etc. - IS ACTUALLY TRUE. Which makes it even more amazing.

Seriously, this is one heavily researched, totally mind-f-ing book.

Fan for life.

After reading the first book of this series, I ran to the library to get the second one. I think I read them both over the span of a couple of days. All I can say is, READ THESE! They are brilliant.

I really like this book; It contains adventure, mystery and keeps you second guessing who you can trust. It is a story about love, loss and finding it within yourself to keep going strong. I suggest this book to everyone, after you read the first book: Prophecy of Days.

Just as enjoyable and engrossing as the first one. Maybe not the best books to read when you don't feel like being confused though. Because some things in these really break your brain

Even though this series is highly unrealistic, I really liked this book. It would be quite the life to travel and also to be part of such a mystery. A really good escape book.

I really did not like this book. Almost nothing happened. Rich girl travels around the world and connects big mystic things together. Gushing about conspiracy theories and space energy was just soo boring to me. Who cares about the tori and the Galactic center? I really did not. Not sure how this girls ramblings would inspire anyone, especially in mosquito tone. Honestly just read it to be done with it.

Oh yea and she doesn't even do much, just follows instructions and her grooming from young childhood. All the other characters do things for her. You might enjoy it more if you are a younger person, but it felt too much like power trip for kids.

I had low expectations for it because I didn't love the first book, but felt inclined to read this one because the first ends on a cliffhanger. It was honestly way way better than the first and I'm glad I forced myself to read it. The mysteries are less predictable, the ending makes way more sense, and the storytelling is just overall better. It was great

This book runs along at such a quick pace, but paradoxically there are sections where it feels preachy and long-winded. Specifically the parts where Caity is learning about the Shadow Government and their vast worldwide conspiracy. This storyline was off-putting to me, and about 2/3 of the way through I nearly stopped reading because it was all getting too heavy handed.

2.5 stars. A fun read, but the Mayan mythology and universal consciousness stuff just got a bit too cheesy for me. And it often felt like Caity's speeches were a huge info dump. Still a good series, I just liked the first book better.

Některé věci v té knize mi přišly hodně nereálné a konec úplně praštěný.
