Kingdom of Blood and Ash #4
Tomb of Vampire
My elite prince is being held captive in the citadel, and in order to reach him I’ll need to make a dark deal with a dangerous foreign vampire. If I don’t get home soon, all our efforts will have been in vain. But there are more secrets to unlock, and more allies to gather, before we can attack the citadel and liberate the kingdom from Nigel’s terrible rule.
As I prepare for a conflict that may destroy me, I’m not sure what I’m prepared to my heart or my kingdom. My prince or his crown. If I’m not careful, I’ll lose both forever. But it’s too late to turn back now. Nigel has to pay. And I’ll risk everything to take back what’s mine. In a kingdom ruled by ravenous vampires, I was bred to serve and destined to bleed. When I'm chosen by an elite, I'm thrust into a deadly world of courtly intrigue and dark desires.
Tomb of Vampires is the 4th and final book in this thrilling, dystopian series. With over 1600 pages in print and hundreds of reviews, this is a satisfying vampire romance you can sink your teeth into.

October 15, 2024I don’t even know what to say like this book finished me and hurt me in ways I was not expecting. Truly the way that I cried in books three and four was just absolutely ridiculous but I was in so much pain. I had to start skimming because I was just so emotionally exhausted.
Anyway on to the review:
On a general note the series was really surprising but I absolutely adore the concept and the way that vampires and creatures worked in the story. It was so unique and refreshing to me and the author ate with that. However, I just did not care about the plot outside of it after a while I was just like exhausted with how laborious it all felt but I respect that there was commitment to delivering politics.
However, don’t understand why we keep having this formula where Damien disappears for an entire book. He literally was not in book 2 and book 4. He was in it for like 2% and I’m like what thehell? I also abhor the fact that the deal was around her having to give up … like it disturbed me and I hated it. It was disgusting. I don’t care how the author explained it at the end. I know that it makes sense because they’re young but I’m just like absolutely not and he was such a weirdo as well. I’m like ew. I also just feel like something really big happened at the end and it wasn’t met with the gravity that I thought it would be but it is what it is. I’m also confused because why are they suddenly acting like they can’t turn people back into humans? They have the antidote..?? I literally did not care about Nigel and his plot or whatever I was like get off my screen.
Emily literally used Trevor for the entire series and then the resolution to that is him just saying “oh maybe I only liked you so intensely because you were the only pretty girl in our compound” and I’m like… ok??? I just feel like that was a thought that I had in book one and had a feeling that that would be the resolution but that could have been weaved throughout the books where he’s coming to that conclusion. Because the last time they were in the same room together he was saying that he was in love with her so out of nowhere it’s like he’s forced to like suddenly have this revelation so that we can tidy up everything.
I’m also confused as to why Tobias didn’t just kill Nigel and take over if he’s the strongest vampire??
This was just a weird book and the only thing that I really remember from it was the moments that absolutely devastated me. The truth of the matter is even though I thought to myself that I did not care about these characters, I did care about them a great deal. I loved them so much. And it absolutely broke my heart when anything bad happened to them. And for that alone, I would say that the series was a success.

This series is so thrilling from beginning to it's end, it is a revolutionary tale whereby a human young woman goes against the vampire elites who were using humans as their blood banks. She is chosen by Prince Damien as his bonded mate and together they kill his father the king and start the ball rolling for the rest of the compounds to join their cause for freedom and equality. However Damien is caught and is being held prisoner in the citadel dungeon, so Emily Sharrow ends up fighting the grand finale at the citadel both to free her mate, her brother and sister and to gain back the crown for it's rightful heir without the backup her bonded mate being an elite would have provided. Many are those who follow her as allies from the different compounds but many are also those following Nigel the imposter trying to put himself on the throne to become an even worse tyrant than the previous King had been. Having so much to fight for Emily will just not back down so on the night of the coronation she confronts Nigel after having made a pact with a foreign Elite which might be her undoing. I love the building of tension that went into the preparation for the revolution leading to this, the grand finale and boy it really was a grand finish. Our heroine did not let us down even though beaten and bruised both physically and mentally. Well done DS Murphy for this excellent dystopic vampire series.

Final book in this series
I love everything he writes. But as always the editing is terrible. Hopefully he'll update soon. I have a hard time remembering each book because he takes too long getting them all out. So it makes it hard to figure out what's going on. And with this one there were moments I didn't even understand what was happening. But I think that too is an editing problem. I still liked the story. I wish he'd hurry and finish the 2 he started but didn't continue. They were my favorites so far. But hopefully he'll release them closer together. 1 was Selfie the other Prescient. But I've lost hope over the years that those will ever be finished.
1 thing about this series that bothers me is that he uses Catholicism as the basis of the renewal ceremony idea. I personally (that means my personal opinion folks) think it's disrespectful as it's a negative thing in the books. But hopefully I'm wrong. Certainly not someone who cared would use. Not that I'm surprised, hatred for faith is the current norm.

Great ending to Emily's story
*spoilers ahead* aThis series gave big twilight vibes if you threw in dystopian vibes. It was fantastic. I loved Emily's willingness to take on the world to fight for what she thought was right. Nigel was a fitting villain and he really did stay one step ahead without anyone knowing it. Though I was surprised with all the brains going over plans, no one thought he might be expecting the rebels. I wish there had been a scene with Damien and his mom, where they reunited (even if she was a little crazy... Okay a lot crazy but who wouldn't be). I also wish I didn't read about clothing changes and showering quite so often. But it was a great series and would recommend.

I went into this book with very little expectations due to the previous books in this series and i can easily say unfortunately my expectations were not surpased. In this final installment of the series we watch as Emily prepares her allies to go tk war with the elite, she does this and the outcome is pretty predictable. I really hated the gore, it made me want to throw up and dislike the series even more. There were certainly twists and turns preceding the ending which i didnt expect which was really nice but unfortunately i just didnt enjoy this book.

Enjoyed this just like the other books. The world building, the story and the characters were interesting, and I had lots of fun getting lost listening to it all. The conclusion to the series was a great ending all tied up nicely but still left a little open for any future exploration if the author ever chose to continue writing in this world again.

An amazing last book that will have you wishing there was more. Saving her Prince is important but at what cost. There’s no stopping until you find out what happens. Well written, strong characters. Don’t miss out.

This was a good ending to this series, though there were a few aspects that I didn't love (they're spoilers so I won't go into detail). But a lot of it was dealt with in a way that made it less frustrating for me. Overall, this was an action-packed, very interesting finale.

This series is so amazing, an edge of your seat drama, tragic yet uplifting love story! I couldn't put the books down. Every time I told myself I'm going to stop reading at a given point, I read more cause I had to know what was gonna happen next! I didn't want the story to end!

I was really disappointed with is series as a whole. It had such a good concept but it just wasn't written well and the end was very predictable.
It tried so hard to have a twist and it just failed.
