Having researched dogs as a postgraduate, I know the scientific literature and this National Geographic publication provides an excellent overview of dogs, written in accessible language. Of course, the photos are wonderful too. This comprehensive account of all things 'dog' covers topics including evolution, breeding, breeds, behaviour, intelligence and plenty more. If you are interested in dogs and want to find out more about them (based on our current understanding from scientific studies), I recommend this interesting and entertaining mag.

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace.” ― Milan Kundera

As a dog owner, I found this book very interesting and eye-opening. It helped me learn many fascinating facts about dogs that I didn’t know before. Dogs are incredibly cute and smart, and it’s amazing how they have evolved to become our best friends. This book made me feel more understanding toward my dog and helped me imagine what life looks like through my dog’s eyes.
