The story deals with the romance of Darci and Will. Will watches Darci while she sings on stage and she sees him at the back of the theater. They meet everytime she has a show and a month passes. On the night that they go to see Will's photographer friends work he gets jumped and has to feed. Darci then becomes aware that Will is a vampire. Will shares that he is being hunted for his blood because he is a day walker, a vampire that is able to be out in the sunlight.

It was a fun story, however I would prefer that the females don't faint everytime they find out someone is a vampire. No typos to distract you and it flows very well.

Day-Walker is the second short story I have read from Nicki J Markus, Dragon's Heart was surprisingly engaging though just 33 pages long, so I was willing to take a chance on this longer novella when she requested a review.

Essentially a paranormal romance, Day-Walker also has a bit of action and suspense. Will is the centuries old Vampire who has the rare ability to tolerate sunlight, Darci is the pretty twenty something modern girl who can't resist his dark and brooding good looks. There is nothing particularly original about the plot, which is fairly standard for the genre, but it is solid, well paced and more importantly, well written.

Markus is proving to be a talented writer who has both the technical and creative aspects of writing firmly in hand. So far she has concentrated on the shorter formats of storytelling but I hope she soon finds the inspiration to write a full length novel which I know I will be happy to read.

An engaging tale, Day-Walker would be a great choice for paranormal romance fans looking for a quick and satisfying read.

Refreshing new twist to the vampires we just can’t seem to get enough of. Exceptional writing—you can tell the book was professionally edited as there are no ridiculous grammar errors reacting as speed bumps throughout the story—and the plot was not only captivating, but entertaining as well, holding my interest until the very end. The only reason I’m giving this book 4 out of 5 stars is because, for me, the first few chapters were a little slow and dragging, but thankfully the chapters are short and once I got through them, I was instantly hooked. An absolute MUST READ if you love vampires, especially stories about them that are unique and witty, as Day-Walker certainly is. Great job, Ms. Markus! Keep writing and I’ll keep reading your fabulous novellas.
