She has appeared on the Bravo TV show Flipping Out and her writing has been featured such places as Writer's Digest, Llewellyn's annuals, and Spirit and Destiny magazine. In addition to authoring many books and oracle decks, she is the founder and facilitator of Wisdom Circle, an online magical community and learning hub.
I love Tess Whitehurst and I'm sorry I only gave three stars but I didn't connect with this book very well, to me it felt a little rushed and focused a lot around incenses and burning things indoors so if you're allergic or live in small places with pets you need to substitute a lot of things. I got more great tips that I can work with more easily from Magical Housekeeping, which I love so much. I am glad I read it though and recommend it to everyone new agey who like to clear their space and themselves in ritualistic ways and want a clear shopping list what to buy and what to do to get it done. It wasn't my cup of tea but absolutely could be yours.
The Good Energy Book, written by my favorite magical author, really explores the world of feng shui from a new perspective. It's about energy and how to keep it flowing and moving throughout our lives.
Tess Whitehurst explains things in a way that the reader can easily understand. For example, she demonstrates how to call on different helpers for different things.
Archangel Michael, for instant protection and shielding. Saint Germaine when you need to his violet purple flame to disintegrate any negativity from your life instantly. The list goes on and on.
The author really goes into detail about earthbound spirits. What are earthbound spirits exactly. Why they are not good for us. How to dispell them and send them on the way.
This was probably one of my favorite chapters. She explains how using sea salt and garlic to ward off lower energies can really change the atmosphere of your home.
I learned that ghost are attracted to clutter and disarray, which makes perfect sense. This explains why people get sick when their home is messy. She really offers a lot of useful tips to rid your home of unwanted guest while welcoming in sweet spirits from the other side.
Tess Whitehurst, as a feng shui consultant and author, never fails me. She has such a positive light and spirit about her that beams through everything she does. By the time you're done reading this book, you will indeed feel a good energy!
I really enjoyed this book. It's concentrating on removing negative and stagnant energy from your life and home, and being infused with positivity, health, love, etc. The methods listed in the book such as space energy clearing, affirmations, invoking spirit guides or archangels are all easy to do. There are even quick fix methods if you're in a hurry. The book teaches you methods to heal your life and to maintain spiritual health and positive energy.
This is a beautiful book full of practical, easy-to-do, effective suggestions and practices for improving the energy of your home and everyday life. I highly recommend ALL books from this author!
This book is a concise and well written guide to creating and maintaining positive energy. I periodically re-read sections of the book and, in fact, it is one of the few books I've read that I still keep on my nightstand. I especially enjoyed chapter 10 "Good Habits and Spiritual Maintenance" and chapter 4 "Magical Hygiene 101". I highly recommend this book, especially to those interested in creating a positive home environment.
4.5 stars. This book is filled with really good information and several rituals to use. The writing is easy to understand and outlines everything you need to know.
Tess Whitehurst lays all the cards on the table. All energy is connected, separation is an illusion, and your life is exactly how you've designed it. Or is it? If your desires and your current lifestyle don't match up, Then its time to crank up your awareness. Tess guides you through the energetic details that set the tone for your life. In today's society, it is more important than ever to create simplicity, honor yourself, and live wide open. This book gives you rituals that will challenge what you think, connect you with what you feel, and lighten your soul.
It was alright. I was expecting more from it. If you are brand new to the positive energy/New Age/ spiritual community, this would be a beginners book. However, I've studied for a few years now and found very little applicable information. Most of it was rituals and herbal (or essential oil) blends but I was looking for more tangible ways to create good energy in my house, such as having this type of furniture will invite this type of energy, have these colors in this room to help with ---, so on and so forth. Most of the information was bland to me. I was simply hoping for more to it.
I loved Tess Whitehurst's previous book - 'Magical Housekeeping' but this one didn't really do much for me. while it did have lots of interesting things in it, i found it to be more of a 'how to' kind of book which made it difficult to just read it from cover to cover. I think perhaps it's more of a dip in and out of book when you need to do some space clearing, rather than a book to read while you lounge about....
it does have a good bibliography and appendix though!
A feng shui consultant's thoughts one how to invite good energy into your home and life. Very metaphysical, uses a lot of ideas from a lot of different sources and cultures. The book reads like a workbook, with specific instructions for each idea. The author draws on Native American culture, among others. It was interesting to read her perspective and ideas. I tried the personal meditations and visualizations for grounding and those worked for me.
Before this a read another book from the same author: Magical Housekeeping: Simple Charms & Practical Tips for Creating a Harmonious Home. And I like this book so much better. This book is nothing revolutionary but it gives you basic information. Book talk about a different form of healing, cleanse space, etc. Is easy to understand and I think this book is great for somebody who just started and at the same time for somebody who already has some experience.
Well, this book covered a wide range of healing methods to include: calling upon spirits, angels, and more. Author provided things that you could say and ways to clear your mind, body and spirit of negativitity. How to cleanse crystals, use essential oils and much much more.
Enjoyed it and will be using more than a few recommendations.
This book focused on clearing negative energy from yourself and your surroundings. The author's sense of spirituality and our place in the universe are very similar to mine. What was interesting was the use of magic with never a reference to witches or witchcraft. I don't equate them either but this is the first writer I've found that doesn't make the assumption that they are linked.
I liked this book, but I feel like a lot of the information was doubled up from Magical Housekeeping - which I've read dozens of times. If you haven't read MH, I think this book would be a lot better. The last third of the book were the most useful to me.
A full book of applicable rituals to increase and establish good energy in your home, for your objects and yourself. Resourceful for intermediate learners and a bit daunting for newbies.
