This field guide uniquely also contains travel information. The layout of this book threw me off when I first got it, but I have come to enjoy its distinctiveness. This guide is laid out into three sections according to the usual Antarctic voyage: Beagle Channel, Drake Passage, and Antarctic Peninsula - with the animals organized primarily by region and secondarily by classification. This book also contains a variety of aids, including a visual guide to penguin behaviour and plates comparing different species of seabirds, cetaceans, and penguins.

Very well written guide book. With very helpful pictures and graphics. Has very insightful facts and tidbits that are fun to read and relevant. I wish I read the book before I went to Antarctica and not after. Definitely a must for anyone going down there on an expedition. Nice and comprehensive.
