I haven't really been a fan of R.L. Stine as an author. He is much more mild than Christopher Pike and in some ways more imaginative than the other. Whereas Pike explorers darker themes, Stine introduces the reader into the alternative worlds and is the book equal of the television series "Are You Afraid of the Dark?".

This book was a quick read, easy words and didn't have much of a plot going to it. Two kids come visiting their Dad's cousins for the summer while find there is more happening in the town. Are the kids playing jokes ghost or is there another ghost prowling around?

If you read the book and carefully pay attention to what is happening you will have the major mystery solved before you even get close to the end of the book. For a beginning reader who is interested in horror this may be your cup of tea especially for the twist at the end.

If you are looking into more darker and frightening stories than this one will disappoint you.
