Now that the concept of metabolic training has been popularized on shows like "The Biggest Loser" and in systems like Crossfit, I think Martin Rooney did the entire training community a huge favor by creating a book that helps anyone to understand and appropriately apply this type of training. The concepts of the warm-up and pre-habilitation are also very valuable to any person getting involved in fitness so that injuries are averted. Each chapter is devoted to different styles of training, and regardless if you have access to equipment or not, there is a multitude of ideas for the newbie or the fitness enthusiast. There is also a diet chapter by John Berardi that delivers some excellent tips and recipes. I especially appreciate the summaries at the end of each chapter. This increases the user friendliness of the book.

Great book for getting ideas on how to spice up your workout. These workouts will get you fit fast and you will see changes in your body. I also liked their section on eating healthy although I think they are missing some foods, like bananas (great for relieving cramping and perfect for recovery). But overall this book has great pictures of each exercise, a 12-week program all spelled out, and meal plans. If you want some variety in your workout or just looking to change it up completely I would recommend checking this out!

This is a very good book on getting into combat conditioning shape, with excellent advice on training, nutrition, and mindset based on both science and experience. Certainly not the only book a warrior would need-- you'll have to go elsewhere for truly strength-based workouts-- but that's implicit in the title, isn't it? For the conditioning side of the coin you can't go wrong here.

Very Helpful

I read up on fitness and health all the time but was still able to get a few more exercises and ideas from this book. Plus, it only cost about $4.
