I guess I was expecting a more traditional type of nine patch than these designs. They were too complicated for me even using paper piecing. She does have a nice section of star blocks for each state.

50 block patterns ... 12 inch blocks.

Carol Doak reviews her paper piecing technique, that is a big plus/ star. All you have to do it pick the pattens you want to make. Each block is based on NINE PATCH one for every state in the union. Carol's books are serial in nature... 50 blocks one for every state based on a specific block pattern. I like the cD patterns as is makes it easier to print them out... all the same or one of each kind you like.
