Glow

Rate this book
The first of its kind, Glow is more than a cookbook, more than a health-and-beauty guide - it is a path to a healthy lifestyle. Using the healing properties of whole foods, the author demonstrates how to use them in daily life to achieve an overall, healthy glow.

By combining ancient Eastern practices for health with more than 150 delicious, whole-food recipes, and healing face washes, massage oils, cleansers, scrubs and soaks, this book caters to a burgeoning market of consumers interested in whole foods and vegetarianism, but most of all to the readers interested in a more balanced, more natural way of life.

About the author

Christina Pirello

24 books12 followers
Christina Pirello is a dynamic personality: a woman who discovered the value of healthy eating when, at age 26, she survived leukemia after changing her diet dramatically. She's an expert chef, author and Emmy Award-winning television personality who is passionate about eating a plant-based diet to prevent cancer, diabetes, obesity, heart disease and other health-related epidemics.
She also believes that a plantbased diet will help you look and feel younger and more vibrant. With a Masters Degree in Nutrition, she has a broad knowledge of the science of nutrition. Christina believes that much of the information released today is influenced by corporate interest rather than biological facts or in the interest of the health of humanity. She responds ardently every time a news story comes out about how to cure America's health problems. In addition to being the keynote speaker for the United States Defense Department's food service convention, Christina hosts her own national public television show, "Christina Cooks" and has been a regular guest on numerous occasions or network news and daytime talk shows.

My first read was very quick. Just to get the information. I've got it on hold again at the library and when it comes available I'll dive in a little deeper. I didn't follow the footnotes to find out if the research was legit. Some of her claims feel far fetched. That being said, I still think vegan eating and whole foods are the way to go. You can't go wrong there, however, I'm not sure freckles and brown spots are only caused by food... but then, I'm no research scientist and haven't read any research papers lately on the topic. I think regardless of the claims she makes, some of the recipes looked delicious. As with most of Christina's recipes, they usually have an Asian bent.

Really interesting. Some of it I found a little unbelievable but for the most part it was informative and strengthened my new-found conviction of being mostly vegan and sugar-free.
