This biography of the philosopher Denis Diderot by a scholar of Enlightenment thought is written an easy to read unscholarly manner-- no notes, no index. That Diderot lived an eventful life and was involved with many interesting characters, notably Jean Jacques Rousseau, makes this informative book a 'good read.'
