Much better than the first book, humans are much more believable now (although still a bit "constructed") and aliens ever more interesting. Probably co-author's accomplishment. Now I believe that instead of reading 155000 word version of the first book 60000 word one would've been preferable as just a foundation/preface for this second book.
I had hopes for this book, I really did. The first book left me feeling very let down, as if it suddenly just stopped. I was hoping that this one would have been a better continuation of that story, and was until I got to the end. Same problem as with the first book, stopped short with no closure.
