The five little ducklings from Duck Skates return in this rhyming romp of a picture-book, this time heading to the seashore for some summer fun. After swimming until their faces turn blue, the ducklings emerge from the water and play games on the sand - leapfrog, tag, flying a kite - before enjoying a picnic lunch. When evening comes they enjoy one last dunk before heading home for bed...

Like its predecessor, Duck Dunks pairs a fun rhyming text from author Lynne Berry with cute, colorful artwork from illustrator Hiroe Nakata. Also like its predecessor, it struck me as an entertaining little picture-book for a read-aloud, particularly for readers seeking summery beach stories. I thought that it was a little more appealing than Duck Skates , which I found cute but unremarkable. I'm not sure why this one struck a chord with me that the other didn't, but there you have it.

This book is a picture book. I believe this book would be best for children ages 3-5 years old. Duck Dunks is about five little ducks going to the beach and what they do at the beach. I gave this book a 5 star rating. my reason for this is because it has a lot of counting within the story line therefore the reader can count the ducks as they enjoy each activity they do on the beach. The reader can also relate to the story because a lot of the things the ducks do at the beach we also do. I believe this book is appealing to young readers because as I sated they can relate to the activities the ducks are doing at the beach. Also, the illustrations were done with water paint which made the pictures very colorful. When reading this book to a child I could use 5 little rubber duckies for props that they could use to count out loud each time the duckies did an activity.

Five little ducks spend a day at the seashore. They swim, picnic, fly a kite, and play games. At the end of the day, they take their damp feathers home.

What I thought: What a lovely book. I loved the rhythm of the words. The illustrations added to my enjoyment. A perfect book to read on a summer day. A plug for Tennessee authors--Lynne Berry lives in Nashville.

My 4-year-old liked finding the duck with the float, the one with the kite and tote, and he counted the ducks to see if there were 5.

This book could be utilized in so many different lessons. This book would be a great mentor text. This book deals with numbers, descriptive adjectives, action verbs, and onomatopoeia words. The opportunities with this book are endless. I also thought the pictures were very appealing to the reader’s eye.

Another book I used for my Toddler Duck Storytime, this was a fun little book, though a bit long for the toddlers. In rhyming text, it tells the story of a family of small ducks who go to the beach and play and swim and have a great time. Recommended for ages 2-6, 3 stars.
