REISSUE of The Family Man

Part-time caregiver Thea Gayle is left to care for two young girls who've been abandoned by their father. She turns to the man who is the only family the twins have—their uncle, Logan McCall. But is Logan—a wildland firefighter who is never home—up to the job?

Thea has to know, because she won't leave the twins with someone else who is going to let them down. Logan's been in a slump ever since the girls' mom, his twin sister, died. The biggest mistake of his life was allowing his nieces to be taken away, all because he thought he couldn't raise them on his own. Prior to writing romance, award-winning, USA Today Bestseller Melinda Curtis was a junior manager for a Fortune 500 company, which meant when she flew on the private jet she was relegated to the jump seat—otherwise known as the potty. After grabbing her pen (and a parachute) she made the jump to full-time writer. Between writing sweet romance and sweet romantic comedy, Melinda finds time to bond with her husband over home remodeling projects. She recently came to grips with the fact that she’s an empty nester and a grandma, concepts easier to grasp than jet-setting on a potty.

Twins for the Mountain Firefighter is a nice addition to the Mountain Firefighter series. It can also be read as a stand alone novel.

I appreciated that the author clearly showed the emotional issues that the twins were going through, along with the sadness that Logan was dealing with. It was hard to watch as Logan doubted his ability to be a parent to the girls because of his own father’s horrible actions, however it did make Logan’s growth throughout the book even sweeter.

Thea was a fun character who worked hard to try to be there for Logan, his aunt, and the girls, while also providing help and a healthy emotional response to this family.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Logan felt so broken after his twin's death. He let his brother-in-law take his sister's twins even though he wasn't worthy to take care of them. When the brother-in-law hires Thea as a nanny and then abandons them, Thea is forced to find the twins' uncle. Even after six months Logan is still not sure he should be honoring his sister's wishes and raising her daughters. When Thea shows up with the twins, he doesn't have much of a choice. Can he keep them out of his brother-in-law's hands. He won't take care of them properly, but can Logan? Will Thea stay or will she go back to her old life?

Logan McCall was devastated by the death of his twin. He felt inadequate and empty. He can't bring up his late sister's daughters when he feels like this. He has a hole where his heart should be so he let the girls go live with their father. Thea Gayle was hired as their nanny, but their uncaring father left them broke and homeless. They have no where to go. Thea takes the twins to their Uncle in Silver Bend. Will he be their savior? Logan is a broken man. He's withdrawn and bitter. He's afraid to let light and love in his life. I felt sorry for him. He may be a brave Hot Shot Firefighter but he's unable to let himself feel emotions. Any attempt to reach him is futile. It made me sad. Thea is a lovely caring woman. She protects the girls and tries to make them feel safe and loved. She tries to help them. It's a hard job when Logan fights her every suggestions. She's a brave woman who has been deeply hurt. I couldn't stop reading this book. It's such an emotional journey. I wanted the twins safe and happy, but I wasn't sure it would happen. Melinda Curtis touched my heart with this story of redemption. I cared for Logan, Thea and the girls. This story was beautiful written. I'm enjoying this series and can't wait for the next Hot Shots to find his future.

I am truly loving this series so far. I just can with this book though. The author takes two broken people who both feel very unlovable for very different reasons and sends you on a journey to find there happy ever after. This book had my emotions all over the place the author has you laughing and crying and literally you don't want to put the book down because you want to know what's going to happen next. I loved the twin they were feisty and they were your typical sisters they fought with each other but at the end of the day they had each others back. I really loved this book, I loved that the author kept it clean and its suitable for all. This book was quick read and you won't regret grabbing it so worth the read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Quite frankly when the book started I was a bit confused about who Thea was. I fully expected Logan to have assumed guardianship of the twins after Deb's death. SO it was a bit of a shock to find out that they were supposed to be with their father Wes at the beginning of the book.
Anyhow, the story progresses with the facts becoming clear about just how the twins had ended up with Wes. I loved the colourful and cheerful character of Thea. She's so full of energy and verve, you can't but help like her.
Logan was like this ostrich burying his head under the sand and wishing that the world would leave him alone. I really wanted to shake him a couple of times during the book to make him think straight. All's well that ends well though. Very sweet story.

A firefighter is left with his sister twin girls when she dies. Bachelor at heart and never wanted kids, he decides to let his dead beat brother-in-law raise them which he still regrets to this day.

Nanny of the girls is trying to get her PhD. while working as the girls’ nanny. She finds herself watching them as their father goes missing and the only family she can find is the girls’ uncle. She then takes them from Seattle to Silver Bend, Idaho where he lives.

On arrival she isn’t sure that he and his elderly aunt are capable of raising the girls. But she also on a strict deadline as her school deadline is quickly approaching. What will she choose? Throw in a possible romance in the mix to make things interesting.

I really, really enjoyed this book. It is the next book in The Mountain Firefighter Series. Love the characters so much. Love the inner struggles each has to overcome. And as the book blurb stated, happily ever after. So you feel great when you get to the end.

I have really liked this series and am so glad I was able to read this. There are definitely books that are sooo hard to put down, and this one is one of those, without a doubt. Loved it!

I received an ebook copy from the author. All thoughts are my own.

Nice story. The heroine is a PhD student and a nanny who hasn't been paid for watching twin girls. Nor has the dad paid the rent, so now they're evicted and the only place left to go is the uncle of the girls. He's the hero, the twin brother of the girls' mom, a wilderness firefighter getting ready to start the summer season. He broke his leg last year, about the time his twin died, which is how the deadbeat dad got the girls. The hero wasn't in any shape to stop him and didn't feel qualified to take care of them anyway. The heroine wants to finish her degree, but she also wants to help the twins heal, and now she wants to help the hero. I thought the book was a little dark, like the hero. It was gloom, gloom, sadness, gloom, anger, and more gloom for page after page after page. Maybe not that bad, but close. At least it seemed so to me. The hero's moodiness was probably realistic but dang, it was depressing. So, overall, it was a good read, but parts of it were hard slogging. I did like it.

Thea Gayle is a student in Washington that is studying to get her Ph.D. in textiles. She needs money to get by so she takes a job as a nanny to a set of twin girls. Tess and Hannah have recently lost their mom to cancer and are being raised by their absent tee dad Wes. Wes has no idea how to raise the girls and really doesn't seem to care. He takes off and doesn't provide for his girls nor does he pay Thea . The result of this is Thea and the girls get evicted. Having no place to go; Thea learns that the girls have an uncle in Idaho. So Thea packs the girls up in search of their uncle Logan. Logan is a hot shot. a hot shot is a fighter that fights forest fires. He has a crazy schedule and has never had the time for the girls. His sister left the girls to him but it was too much for him so he allowed their dad to get them. Can Thea find Logan? Will he help with the girls? Logan McCall is a firefighter that puts out forest fires. He is pretty much a loner since the death of his twin sister. When his sister died she left her daughter to Logan but he felt like he couldn't do the job so he gave them to their dad. Then Wes hired Thea and the girls ended up with her. One day Logan comes home after fighting fires to find Thea and his nieces at his home. Thea tells him that Wes has left them and they didn't any place to go. Logan agrees to let them stay temporary. Will Logan step up and take of the girls? How does Thea fit in and will she go back and finish her education? Will Logan heal from his sister's death? This is a sweet , heartwarming , love story. I would love to see stories that feature the other hot shots from this story. Learning about hot shots was very interesting. It was a quick enjoyable read. * some mild language *

***Twins for the Mountain Firefighter: A Redemption Romance (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 2) aka The Family Man by by Melinda Curtis
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the clean novel A Son for the Mountain Firefighter: A Redemption Romance (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 2): Logan and Thea by Melinda Curtis and this review was given freely.
Initially sad and heartbreaking this ultimately heartwarming story is the struggle to find love, family, and healing after bad childhoods, after depression, and despite dementia.
Irritable and grief stricken after the loss of his twin sister Deb to cancer and his nieces to their unreliable father, confirmed bachelor, assistant superintendent of the Silver Bend, Idaho's Hot Shots, Logan "Tin Man" McCall returns home not only to find his nieces Tess and Hannah but also their nanny Thea and a dog.

***A Baby for the Mountain Firefighter: A May-December Older Woman Romance (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 3) by Melinda Curtis
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the clean novel A Baby for the Mountain Firefighter: A May-December Older Woman Romance (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 3): Aiden and Becca by Melinda Curtis and this review was given freely. A suspenseful, drama and action packed novel of misunderstanding, love, sacrifice and forgiveness. Playboy assistant superintendent of the Silver Bend, Idaho's Hot Shots, Aiden "Spider" Rodas is confronted with his past when not only is his errant father but a one night stand in the form of a pregnant and single NIFC’s senior Fire Behavior Analysts, Becca Thomas appear at a Montana wildfire.

Thea Gayle, working on her PhD in textiles, takes on a job as a nanny for ten year old twin girls. When their truck driving, widowed dad is absent for two months without paying Thea’s salary or the apartment rent, Thea finds herself and the girls literally on the sidewalk in Seattle with their belongings. When Thea latches on to the mention of Uncle Logan, a mountain Hot Shot firefighter, she packs the girls and their possessions in her yellow VW Beetle and heads to Silver Bend, Idaho.

In the little town she discovers Logan, aka Tin Man because he “has no heart,” still in deep distress over the death of his twin sister Deb, the girls’ mother. He is having trouble coping with his grief, maintaining his challenging job, and caring for his aunt Glen who has declined rapidly both physically and mentally. Thea brings light into all of their lives, but she and Logan both had serious problems in their family backgrounds and wonder if they can overcome them to find happiness.

Melinda Curtis’ Twins for the Mountain Firefighter is clean and heartwarming, but it does address serious issues including abuse, abandonment, and trust. Although the series focuses on a crew of Hot Shots, there is more emphasis in this novel on relationships than on the actual firefighting. It has characters reaching deep into themselves to find strength, courage, and caring they never knew they had.

I would like to extend my thanks to Melinda Curtis for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 Stars. The Mountain Firefighter Series is now on my list of favourite series. I enjoyed the first book, but I absolutely loved the second one. I did not want to put this book down…and I didn’t. I read this book in one day…it was that good. The plot is interesting and the pace had me turning the pages with ease. For me, Logan has taken top place in the hero category so far this year. He’s everything a reader looks for in a firefighting hero. Thea is the rock for Logan and his family. She’s quirky and fun. An additional shout-out should also go to Logan’s aunt and his nieces. A great cast of characters, which included the other members of the Hot Shots. When these guys get together, I couldn’t help but smile. The story is packed with emotion and many heart wrenching scenes. One of my favourite scenes is when Logan polishes the floor with Thea and his nieces. But there are several other great scenes because this story has it all even a few tense moments. I just added book three to my library and I can’t wait to read, Hot Shot, Aiden’s story. Thea (Ph.D student / nanny) was a marvelous heroine. The opening scene (eviction) was totally
intriguing. She along with Tess & Hannah (9 yr old twins) have to decide where to go next. They travel from Seattle to Silver Bend, Idaho where the twins’ Uncle Logan has his home. He is a Hot Shot firefighter who puts out wildland fires all over the USA with his team.
Lots of story here .. some parts worked, other threads not. Thea’s upbeat attitude & quirky personality were special. Logan’s was a total contrast as he is burdened by family responsibilities and an overwhelming grief at the recent death of his beloved only sister (his twin) Deb. This hero barely made it through this tale !
Yes to Whizzer the dog and Hot Shot work … but no to Logan’s waffling on all home front living and being a protector to his nieces. Ambitious plot with many characters.
Melinda Curtis is an author who always surprises me.

Firefighter Logan McCall and his twin sister, Deb had a terrible childhood. He decided he would never be a father. His sister, Deb was dying and asked him to raise her twin daughters. When Deb passed away, Logan was angry. He didn’t know how to handle his grief. He let them go back to their daddy. He knows he was wrong and he regretted it.
Their dad hired a nanny, Thea Gayle. She took care of them while she was trying to get her PhD. Her employer never paid her or the rent for the twins. They got evicted. She didn’t know what else to do but take them back to Logan
Logan is still angry just like the twins. She helps Logan until he finds a new nanny. He can’t believe how beautiful Thea is and how the girls love her. Can Thea heal the girls and Logan? Will he realize he’s best for the girls. Will he get help with his grief? This is an awesome story. I love this series, so farm I’m looking forward to reading Melinda’s next book in the series.

A quick read but easy to follow along and pulls you in from the start. Cancer teaches us a lot about how short life can be and how strong we are. A well written and perfectly paced story. Family is there to pull you through rough times.

I love that nothing is predictable

Logan and Thea had lots of sparks flying from the very beginning. Each was fighting a past they couldn’t run from and each was handling grief in a different way.
This book is so much about the supporting characters and each character adds so much to the story. I love the family aspect of the Hot Shots.

Thea Gayle sat outside the apartment she and her twin charges, twins Hannah and Tess, were just evicted from. She is the girls' nanny hired by a very A.W.O.L. deadbeat dad. She is broke! The deadbeat dad hasn't paid her and she doesn't know what she is going to do. She did know that she was going to take care of Hannah and Tess as she has come to care for them. When they mention they lived with their Uncle Logan in Silver Bend, Idaho when their mother was alive Thea knew she had to take them back there. Little did she know that Unle Logan was the man she would fall for.

Logan McCall was very surprised to see his nieces at his home when he returned with his fellow Hot Shots from fighting a wildfire. He knew he should never have let their father who abandoned them and his dying wife take them away but he had been so torn up with grief that he wasn't thinking straight. His sister Deb named him as the girls' guardian. He was really surprised to meet their nanny. Little does he know at their meeting his life is about to change in a big way.

Twins for the Mountain Firefighter by Melinda Curtis is the second book in her Mountain Firefighters series. I was unfamiliar with the concept of Hot Shots until I started reading this series. I have really enjoyed learning about them. Ms. Curtis has written an emotional story that tugs at the heartstrings. I like how she depicts the lives with ups and downs of her characters especially Thea and Logan. This was a very enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it. Because of that, I knew who Logan was (a fellow Hot Shot crew member) and that his sister was dying of cancer. I also knew that the sister had twin girls and were worried about what would happen to them when their mom died. This second book picks up the story with Logan's sister having died and Logan having gone into a tailspin emotionally. The twins have been sent to their deadbeat father because of that and they are being looked after by a nanny, Thea, who is wonderful but their deadbeat father is nowhere to be found and Thea doesn't know what to do so she heads to Idaho to look up Logan because she's broke and needs to hand off the twins! I loved Thea's character. She was the glue that held this little family together, no matter what they threw at her! She stayed when so many would have left! They were pretty mean to her but her optimism and cheerfulness and love just kept on coming! I also loved Aunt Glen's character! This is a "feel good" book and shows you how much one person can make a huge difference. I loved it!!!

Awesome book! Make sure you have a box of tissues handy though. The story of the twins and the struggles that they have to go through had me shedding many tears. I could totally relate to this book on many levels. Althea was a great heroine and I absolutely loved Logan. He had some hard choices to make and was dealing with so much of his own inner turmoil, as well as the twins and Althea. I highly recommend this second book in the series! I couldn't put it down until I finished it!! It was so good, I forgot to feed my husband supper that night until late in the evening!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Charming Romance.
A young woman mends the hearts of a broken family. When her employer has been missing for weeks, nanny Thea finds herself and her twin charges evicted with nowhere to go, except for an uncle that the twins haven’t heard from since their mother’s death. Thea finds an introverted, grief stricken man in a dark cheerless home but her bright optimistic outlook on life, slowly draws everyone out. Sweet and clean.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book gifted by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Twins for the Mountain Firefighter" (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 2) by Melinda Curtis is a terrific read. I loved Logan and Thea's story. This book hooked me from the start and I couldn't put it down. This story is the first I've read in this series, and I will definitely be going back to read "A Son for the Mountain Firefighter" (The Mountain Firefighter Series Book 1). This story is full of hot firefighters, romance, entertaining characters, close friends, family, overcoming loss, new beginnings, and more. This story had me laughing at times and crying as well. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series with this interesting cast of characters. I highly recommend to all fans of romance, firefighters, family, and series.

This is book #2 in the Mountain Firefighter series. This is Logan and Thea's story. Both characters have issues with family and their past. Thea shows up with his sister's twins on his doorstep, and no where to go. He's dealing with depression, anger, and regrets. I loved this story from the start. Great read. I look forward to the next installment in the series.

This story was about a young woman, Thea, studying for her PH.D that takes a temporary job as nanny to 10 year old twin girls. They lost their mother to cancer 6 months prior and their father is a long distance trucker. Unfortunately, the father is a lowlife that leaves them with no contact or money and they are evicted from their residence. The only other living family the girls have is their uncle Logan. Thea takes them to their Wild-land Firefighter uncle who is out long periods fighting fires and possibly not up to the job of taking care of his nieces.

Unfortunately, for me, these characters never came to life. I understand the author was establishing the insecurities of both main characters but the constant flip-flopping between strong, weak, passive, aggressive was too much to believe. There was no flow to the growth that should have happened. It was all a choppy mess that left me, as a reader, unbelieving and not able to find any way to anchor myself into the story. There wasn't a single character that was whole. Every one stayed stiff, cardboard, and one-dimensional. Such a shame because the author can tell a story. This one was too convoluted and felt as if the outline was driving the story instead of the characters. It didn't have a natural feel to the progression of events and the characters turning from insecure to being strong in the next paragraph didn't help. Oh - and they fell in love? I didn't see anywhere that could have happened.

This is my first time to read a novel from Melinda Curtis which was OK for me. Actually, the story was started slowly with the same cliche as we always read in any story. However, the process of story is not quit interesting but it will be good in the middle of story. it could be better.
