An Acres U.S.A. primer

Rate this book
In this book, eco-agriculture is explained from the tiniest molecular building blocks to managing the soil in terminology that not only makes the subject easy to learn, but vibrantly alive. Sections on NP&K, cation exchange capacity, composting, Brix, soil life, and more! Eco-Farm truly delivers a complete education in soils, crops, and weed and insect control. This should be the first book read by everyone beginning in eco-agriculture . . . and the most shop-worn book on the shelf of the most experienced.

A very useful, informative book if you want to work with soil & food plants. Pertinent primarily to temperate zones. Makes for a knowledgeable gardener or farmer.

Healthy foods tend to sustain healthy people.

(I read a hardcover edition, but there's no image for it.)

the author's knowledge is EXTENSIVE, although his writing style is somewhat conceited. the best and most detailed explanation of the blunder that is modern agriculture i've ever read. if you want to know why you're likely to die of cancer by eating mainstream foods (including fruits and veggies), read this book. also, if you want to know how to farm organically AND sustainably, you need animals! so read this book. and get some pigs.

A complete primer on eco-farming or sustainable agriculture. By sustainable I mean a mindset of managing the earth's resources to properly nourish the soil which feeds both humans and animals for optimum health.

This book cleared up many of the details of the organic farming method that I wanted to understand better. A comprehensive, practical book on the organic method. Really helped me to look at pH in a new light.

I love his writing style. I learned more from this book about plant life that any other book I've ever read. Definitely a keeper.
