Patchwork—the piecing together of many different fabrics—is back! And it’s making a splash on fashion runways, in the hottest magazines, and on the coolest indie craft blogs. No wonder, because patchwork gives stitchers an exciting way to make use of their old fabric scraps; in effect, they’re designing new material by creating original combinations of patterns. Thanks to a pool of talented designers and this new entry in the popular Pretty Little series, anyone can pick out some fabrics and get started. Thirty projects showcase a variety of creative ideas, including funky ornaments, a silk scarf, star pincushions, a yoga-mat carrier, and much more. An introduction teaches the basic techniques, and all the projects appear in full-color, close-up photos.

This is another book that is a collection of different designers works.
I like the idea of getting into patchwork because it allows one to use up all of one's pretty scraps. But I was not inspired much by many of the projects nor most of the photos of the finished projects. I was not a big fan of many of the fabrics used in most of the projects. Most of the projects I have seen in other craft books and looked prettier or, at the very least, less busy and "loud." Two exceptions are:
1) the yoga mat holder (p.69) 2) the Mini Mod Coin Quilt (p. 109)
I liked the 2 pages worth of Basic Piecing info at the beginning of the book also.
Mostly boring, ordinary things that are uninteresting to even look at let alone make. The fabrics chosen might be part of the problem: most of them are vintage looking which I like in moderation but is overwhelmingly bland in this quantity. I have no desire to make anything in this book. But I gave it two stars because there were a few things I can picture some people liking--it wasn't all horrible.
Patchwork projects galore, and not just quilts. The book contains 32 projects created with fabric and thread. From a pocket quilt to a birdie mobile, this book covers a wide range of simple projects, many of which can be created with fabric scraps leftover from other projects. Recommended, although I didn't find any projects I loved enough to want to create.
I have not made anything from this book yet, but the projects look simple and seem to have good instructions. It's also very inspiring for your own ideas.
