Came across this in the Grolier Poetry bookshop in Cambridge, Mass., figured I've never gone wrong with reading Gerald Vizenor before, so I picked it up. And indeed, I was not disappointed, even though it was not his own wild and wonderful imaginative fiction, which I have enjoyed so much. His translations and brief commentary on the source material were enjoyable and illuminating, glad I read them.

I didn't give it one star because it was bad but simply because it began to drag, due to which I quickly lost interest. But I usually finish all the books I start to read and so, I went through with it (other than the 'Interpretive Notes'). If the content is something you like, you might like this book with all its stories. It just wasn't for me.
