I love this series (Foods of the World) and have read bits or chapters here and there in every one of them (29!), but this is the first volume I've read all the way through. I love how personal each one is - the authors always talk a lot about food traditions as they themselves experienced them (though of course also in more general terms). I haven't made any of the recipes though I'd love to do a pudding after reading so much about them! Also will try braising turkey next Thanksgiving I think. Finally, all the funny terms for food and other things throughout the book gave me a bit of context for Lewis Carroll and his nonsense - not quite so nonsensical after all - or rather his nonsense terms sound a lot like real words and in particular names of dishes/food items. The photography in all of these books is so great. I guess Time Life books from the 60s-70s in general are really great, but I especially love the Foods of the World series. Oh and the hedgerows! In my fantasy life where I have a farm in the middle of nowhere it will be lined with hedgerows and I'll make all those crazy fruit wines myself.
