2012 Review:

Confusing as hell. Maybe the author is losing her touch (what touch she sometimes has, that is). Some of the repetitions that cropped up were jarring since the same phrases were used just a paragraph later to reiterate something. And it was not to emphasize a point either. Those were explanations. Weird.

What really made my head spin, though, was that moment when Jimmy thought to himself that he had never believed a man could be raped. I mean, WTF? Do I need to draw a diagram? I don’t even… Uh.

Anyway. The way was admittedly gruesome. In fact, the story pulled together from that point onward, even if it was late, so in the end things felt kind of nice after all.

Still. I can’t get a grasp on this stuff. So strange.

We won’t even attempt to go into the illogicalities these series are littered with. Nope. I went into this fully determined to ignore them and live in the moment (in this case the page). :P

Also: The joys of male pregnancy. Again. Well, okay, it was only in the background, but yeah, . Heh. Whatever. Seeing how this obviously is not the norm in this universe it becomes a little easier to accept. I guess.

3rd Reading 1-9-15
Once again I didn't read Christian's book. Wanna know who I want to see more of? Button!! I want to see Nija get all super protective over the girl.

2nd read June 2014
During my re-reads of this series, I did NOT read Christian's book because I HATE Minsheng!

I liked Nija and Jimmy better the 2nd time around :)

First read 11-16-14
I wanted more of Jimmy's backstory.

I usually enjoy Lynn Hagen's series but for some reason I just could not get into this book. I was confused at some points because there seemed to be about a million plot twists going on and so many new characters were introduced. I know that some of these plot twists will be explained in future books but there just seemed to be a lot of plot but not a lot of resolution. I also felt Jimmy and Nija's relationship was a bit unfulfilling. Hopefully I will enjoy the next book a little more.

I find myself becoming more and more disappointed with each new Lynn Hagen book I read. The plots are always predictable. Paranormal creature finds mate - mate somehow manages to get into serious trouble - paranormal creature rescues distressed mate in some spectacular way. The only reason I continue to read her books is because I have hope that something, somewhere, somehow will be different.

Not only are the basic plots of her books the same but the sub plots as well. I only continue to read her books because I have an unnatural curiosity as to what happens to her characters that I've read here or there about for over a year. Plus I hold some dim hope that one day something profound will happen.

typical lynn hagen serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical lynn hagen? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).

out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all books by :
lynn hagen
stormy glenn
scarlett hyacinth
carol lynne
gabrielle evans

unless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win.

The story of Nija and his mate Jimmy. Not a deep story but Jimmy was born vampire but it was suppressed. Nice amount of Christian and his mates, one of whom is pregnant. A quick easy to read instalment.

I'm not familiar with vampires in Christian's coven since I didn't read Christian's so Nija and Jimmy's story is not that enjoyable and kinda boring.

Well, I delved into the Bracverse a 2nd time and now there are 121 books - yikes! I loved this Universe the first time I read it several years ago and now I love it more, I really do, but I've only been able to read these series (and I have expanded to all the books that are currently out in each):
Brac Pack
Christian's Coven
Zeus's Pack
Demon Warriors
The Exiled

These are the series that start the Universe. Reading them in order is a must. Each book has it's own love story but there is an underlying story that plays out throughout them all. As you get towards the end of these series, other series come into play and I noticed that, since I did not read them, I missed some of the characters being mentioned (good and bad) but I was still able to follow because the main ones stay the same.

One day I WILL buy these and read them all!!! (For the correct order, just look on the Internet for Lynn Hagen Reading Order):
Brac Village
Shadow Tribe
BPNG (Brac Pack Next Generation - Brac Pack kids)
The Remus Brothers
Wolves of Desire

No doubt this book gets five stars from me. This is the second book in the, "Christian's Coven", series, and it was riveting. Jimmy and Eli are best friends and one special vampire realizes that Jimmy is his mate. Together they go through hurdle after hurdle together. I was laughing out loud when Jimmy saw Christian turn into his natural form. Jimmy said that he'd rather come up against Satan, :D but Christian's mates find him to be sexy like that, to Jimmy's shock. :) It's also cute how one of Christian's mates still likes to drink milk even though he's a turned vampire now. That's adorable. Other vampires cringe as he drinks his glass of milk. Anyway, there are ghouls in this story and poor Eli and Jimmy go through so much. Eli also gets attacked by an Elder gone bad and is power hungry. At the end we find out who Eli's mate is. That was awesome. I was totally engaged in this story, and as usual I can't wait to read the next one, which is, "Eli's Way". I hope he doesn't resist his mate too much because I kind of hate that but I'm sure that it will still be just as gripping as this book was. :)

Enjoyable fluff in Hagen's paranormal universe that encompasses Brac Pack, Zeus's Pack, Demon Warriors and Christian's Coven. Some events mentioned in this book happened in one of the other two series, either Sully - Zeus's Pack or Tater's Bear - Brac Pack. Though it isn't important to really enjoy this story.

I liked Nija and Jimmy, though Jimmy's back and forth emotions gave me whiplash. I loved seeing Christian and his mates again and will be reading the next in the series (again) soon.

This is a re-read for me. First read 22/11/12

So, can you say confusing at times?...though I kinda got the concept. Ms. Hagen has been on a roll since Maverick and putting out a book almost every week must be tiring... but I think the focus is being lost in translation. I won't lie, I will continue to read all of her books, but I wish for more one couple storyline per book instead of having to focus on two or more couples at a time and then with that OTHER storylines. It's paranormal, I mean, I get that, but please, it's too much for one book!!!!
