The author is not transparent in where she received the teachings from. It appears Cyndy Baskin is a pretendian with no Native ancestry at all. The Native community in Toronto believes Cyndy is not who she says she is, based on her ongoing aggressive behaviour towards community members and Ryerson social work students who've witnessed her demean others. Cyndy has an ice cold persona to deflect anyone questioning her of her claims of being Native.

Stop profiteering and taking up spaces of Indigenous peoples.
