Women who have gone through hard times often carry years of emotional baggage that keeps them in bondage to a time, event, or person.
Using the blessings in the Beatitudes, Becky Harling shows how to erase negative emotional messages of the past. Learn how to rewrite your emotional script by adopting the positive attitudes of the Beatitudes.
BECKY HARLING has a degree in Biblical Literature and is a sought-after speaker and Bible teacher at women's conferences and retreats. Through her writing, Becky creatively combines deep biblical insight with her powerful testimony and the stories of other women. Her life experiences as a pastor's wife, parent of four adult children, grandmother of five grandchildren, women's ministries director, survivor of breast cancer and sexual abuse bring depth to her message. She brings a message of hope and healing that is refreshingly transparent. Becky is a gifted communicator with a passion for helping women find hope, healing, freedom, and ultimately life transformation through Jesus Christ. She is the author of Rewriting Your Emotional Script, Freedom From Performing, The 30 Day Praise Challenge, The 30 Day Praise Challenge for Parents, and How to Listen So People Will Talk.
Trauma driven emotions are painful and linger for years often laying dormant and emerging from time to time often only to sabotage our efforts of a happy and peaceful life. It is a hidden weapon of the enemy that distracts us and causes regret, shame, and sorrow.
In Rewriting Your Emotional Script: Erase Old Messages, Embrace New Attitudes, Becky Harling uses the lessons found in Matthew 5 to challenge the reader to change her perspective and catch a new vision.
God wastes no pain and in this book, Becky Harling uses examples of her own traumatic past to reveal to the reader the purpose of such pain. The purpose is to encourage.
The difference between Becky Harling and others who cannot release the painful emotions of the past is perspective. A simply belief in the truth that yes, we do experience awful things in this life but we are not being picked on or singled out. We are being honored and chosen sometimes to experience a thing and with the God-given gifts graciously bestowed, we forge on trusting God.
The book includes ten chapters, each with bible study and prayers making it perfect for personal or small group bible study.
What were the highlights that caught my attention? There were a few. First, from Chapter 5: Set Your Appetite for God, that what hurts us reveals to us our hunger for God. Chapter 8: Forgive Your Offenders, the difference between ‘peacekeeper’ and a ‘peacemaker.’ And finally, new emotional scripts in Chapter 10: Leave a Godly Legacy, especially the study questions of what my ‘old’ emotional script was before reading the book and what my ‘new’ emotional script is after having read this book.
Books that challenge my thinking are my favorite books. This book illuminated the Beatitudes in an entirely new way for me. Excellent book for a women’s bible study or small group, I recommend it highly.
Becky Harling takes the reader through a method of healing based on the scriptures. It is always good to allow God to walk with you through any kind of emotional trauma. He is the great healer. I would caution anyone with depression or suicidal ideation to allow a counselor to help you through this book. Still, a good book.
This would be a good book for a person who recognizes emotional patterns and/or strongholds in his life and wants to gain God's perspective on breaking them. Self-discipline to answer the questions and follow-through would be necessary, or it could be used as a one-on-one study with another trusted person.
A must read. After years of believing the feelings I had about myself this book shed light on the lies satan had me believing. This was healing to my soul as I worked through things with 2 of my dearest friends.
Engaging in this Study with my "7 Sisters" helped form a life-long friendship for a truly incredible group of women. I am blessed to know them and share my life with them and this Book was instrumental in forming and solidifying the beginning of these wonderful friendships.
Only read reviews.....and from reviews only wish to read it....supressed emotional pain is every woman "s pro lem.....she has to "drink" her anger down in her inside where it lies unresolved and unrevenged.......
