Does Orthodox evangelism sound like an oxymoron? It shouldn't. The Orthodox Church has an unbroken tradition of evangelism that goes back to the Apostles. But Orthodox evangelism does look rather different from the Protestant variety. With his characteristic straightforward and humorous style, Fr. Michael Keiser covers the history of Orthodox evangelism, the rationale and the methods for continuing this tradition in our contemporary Western post-Christian society.

Fr. Michael is very comprehensive and also very practical in addressing Orthodox Christian evangelism. His humor makes the book even more enjoyable. This seems mostly addressed to Church leaders, but as we are involved in Christ's Great Commission and should care about the salvation of our neighbors, the various roles laypeople play are also laid out in detail.

FINALLY. A book on authentic evangelism according to the Orthodox tradition. For years, I've wishes/hoped/dreamed for a book like this that I could hand the laity. Copies were given to every family in my parish last month.

The book was OK, I think a review of perhaps common sense ideas about how an Orthodox parish might attempt evangelism.
