I picked this book because I saw it was about a little black girl named Dawn. That’s my name! I never met another black girl named Dawn, who has the same hairstyle I used to wear as well! I enjoyed the story and the illustrations. I was delighted to learn that the illustrator is from my home State of Alabama.

While Dawn wants to play and have fun with members of her family, they are all too busy to play with her. She has to figure out how to make her own fun instead. A good book that can connect with students whose parents or siblings are too busy to play with them. This can show children that even if members of the family are too busy to play with them, they can make their own fun.
