I listened to the audio book twice in one week and intend to listen to it again. An excellent guide to understand the concepts of this seven step system, apply them to daily life and find peace in body and mind. The audio book also provides a PDF to follow for deeper understanding, meditations at the end of each chapter, tasks to focus on and also movement practices at the end of the course to help tune in and understand the chakra system from a physical perspective.
There are a lot of junky books out there about the chakras, but this one rises above the rest. I don't agree 100% with the author about everything (who does in metaphysical studies?), but she does an excellent job outlining the basics of the chakras. I wasn't a fan of the exercises at the end, but that's simply not my style. Others may love it. Give it a try and see!
I listened to the author narrate this and it was a lovely audiobook. Part intro to chakras, part guided meditation, and part child development syllabus, this is a good book for anyone looking to delve a little deeper into understanding the ancient wisdom of chakras and the body-mind-spirit connection.
I was not familiar with the Chakra system and this audio book gave me a great overview. Enough detail, but not overwhelming. Author uses great common day examples and the material is laid out logically.
Such a useful guide in understanding this ancient way of bodily and emotional diagnosis. Definitely a help in moving my yoga students to a higher level of wellness.
listening to this audio course as a primer for Anodea Judith’s Wheels of Life. i didn’t do the exercises associated w the course but would return to this at some point and try them out!
Finally the chakra book I've been looking for! Anodea Judith covers each chakra in depth. Their relationships with the physical body, activation, symptoms of blockage as well as guided meditations. Look no further, start with this book first. Trust me, I've read a lot of them and this one shines above the rest.
Short and simple to follow illustrations. Great for beginners who need to know the basics of this topic. Perhaps the basic straight to the point illustrations prove to be best, and it wasn't overcomplicated and is a great book to go back to from time to time to remember specific points.
I listened to this on audiobook. I really enjoyed listening and learning about the 7 chakras. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.
Anodea covers each chakras separately in great detail.
What started as a nurse continued education unit on Eastern medicine lead me to looking up chakras and then to this audiobook from the library. I was a bit skeptical thinking it was going to be a bit too out there and woo-woo for me and now I'm drinking the Kool Aid AND rating it 5 stars! Well, maybe not the whole glass, but I found the psychological ties to the chakras and the author's thoughts on how and why they may get blocked an easy concept to wrap my head around. I like that she brought a modern day outlook to it. There are guided meditations and yoga positions that probably would've been easier to visualize had I read the book vs audio, but I really appreciated the ease and convenience of the audio and I think that I since I could listen to it during chores and exercising that had me listening to it all the way through more readily. I may even go back over the beginning and take some notes. Glad I stumbled on this in the most unlikely and surprising way. This is a good breakdown of the chakra basics and for someone looking, like me, for a beginner. If you get the audio, make sure it is the 7 hr one. One at my library had the abridged version. There is also some 29 page workbook that can accompany it. Make sure you don't just look at the workbook as it isn't meant as a stand alone if you are a beginner or you will only get half the info
Listened to the audiobook; downloaded from library. It's the first book I've read that really delved into the psychological ties to the chakras, how they can be blocked and unblocked. I've been interested in the chakras, believing in chi and eastern medicine - energy centers within the body, etc....read other books but they seemed superficial. This helped to tie in how our everyday life affects the chakras. I like her style and will look for more audiobooks from this author.
This is the audiobook sister of "Wheels of Life" and is just as good, with the added bonus of guided meditations and an AMAZING guided kundalini practice at the end. Although much of the information is the same as in "Wheels of Life" there is a lot of new stuff too.
