“Chase, we’re not getting married,” she answered with a shake of her head.
“Why not?”
She tossed her hands up in the air. “Because we don’t love each other,” she said with exasperation.
He closed the distance between them, “How do you know I don’t love you?” Damn, the woman had zero self-esteem.
“I didn’t come here for a quickie,” she said when he skimmed his lips over her jaw and nibbled her ear.
“I’m not asking for one,” he whispered.
Her blunt fingernails dug into his shoulder. “You’re doing a pretty good job of showing me you do.”
“The difference between you and me is that Kelly was never in love with me. But I wasn’t blinded by my own love not to see the truth staring me in the face.”
