WIP, first read was up until the end of book 4.
You ever get the feeling that words are not enough to express how much you feel about something?
I loved this, so so much. I'm so hyped about book 5 (and 6 and 7).
I have a soft spot for "what ifs": rewritting of canon but with something different and how it changes everything, and an even softer spot for snarky Draco's POV.
Everything is so well written I cannot believe I live in a world where freaking masterpieces are available for free. Seriously.
The romance is very cute, especially viewed from Draco's pov. I'm very excited to read how it will evolve in year 5. (In canon there was so much drama and teenage angst, loved it)

Edit: Rounding this to a 5 on goodreads, because it is one of the best Dramione fics out there and the world needs to know! Can’t wait to read more.
4.5 ✨ This is still a WIP, but damn if I didn’t just binge 56 chapters of it in a week. So it counts! I’m caught up now to the end of book 4 and things are really amping up. This is a wildly in-depth look at what the series would be like if Draco was sorted into Gryffindor vs Slytherin. The writing is fabulous and the characters are so well done. The author has a knack for getting to the heart of each and every character’s personality and they all shine here, main cast and side characters alike. The changes made to canon are also so carefully plotted and nuanced. The amount of intelligent thinking that went into rewriting this series like 😮. The Dramione elements are wonderful as well. I don’t normally read rewrites especially when they are this young, but it’s so well written that the author has convinced me full stop. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment, much like I did for the cam on series back in the day. Everyone should give this a try!

This is a dramione WIP on AO3 (iykyk) and it’s amazing but it sounds like the author may be MIA for a while. It hasn’t been updated in two months so I finally decided to catch up and potentially accept that it might be over??
Side note: I’d like to formally- on the internet- name/shame/blame Samantha for ruining my life by explaining what “Dramione” is and talking up THE FIC I SHALL NOT NAME so much that I gave it a try and now I can’t stop won’t stop. And this is coming from someone who has loved Ron Weasley for 25 years. A very fundamental part of my personality has exited and isn’t coming back. But it helps that JKR is a hateful lunatic now.

As far as I’m concerned this is better than the original Harry Potter. I can’t believe it’s still a work in progress - I made an account just so I can read updates immediately. I am SICK for this Dramione - the yearning is absolutely unmatched 😩😩

6 STARS. I’m still reading as it’s a wip rewrite of all 7 books of HP (the book is up to the end of The Order of Phoenix). But even incomplete it’s still in my opinion the best HP fanfic ever. Not a flaw in prose, characterization, and truly genius in plot design. So magical, so raw. I cannot explain how emotional this had made me. My heart breaks, mends and breaks again for these kids.

Lionheart is a current WIP and is an ongoing series that follows Draco Malfoy if he would've been sorted into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin.
Lionheart Book 1: 5 stars I read this in a matter of hours and absolutely adored the worldbuilding, characterization, and inventive storytelling. Ate it UP! Read: 6/25/2023
Lionheart Book 2: 4 stars This is not as strong or as good as the first in the series. I often found the language of these kids unbelievable and I wasn't buying the reveal or the buildup to the plot. It was no satisfying at all. Also, I don't understand the random political subplot, but I'm sure it'll be important in later chapters. Read: 6/25/2023-6/27/2023

DNF at 34%. It started out promising, but after 500 pages I just don't care about this story anymore. The politics, Dobby's character, the pages long descriptions of Quidditch matches - meh. Too bad I didn't even get to the burn because it is so slow nothing is even happening yet at page 500.

I’m going to miss this version of Draco and Hermione!! The slow burn was totally worth it

this fic… I’m going to try to put everything I felt about it in words because it’s so unfathomably amazing, it MUST be a dramione classic
books 1-3 were the core of what made gryffindor draco believable. in the beginning, I was honestly skeptical and almost put this fic down, but I persevered !! even though draco *was* sorted in gryffindor, he still had the traits that made draco the awful gremlin he was as a child. AND YET, his bigotry was challenged and was slowly unraveled all through his own experiences and observations. GTC did such an amazing job in depicting his change of beliefs without relying so much on hermione. even though hermione was part of that unravelling, she wasn’t the primary catalyst that made him realize that everything he knew about blood purity was wrong. and I really liked that. I liked how he was depicted as a fatherless child to an ancient house with heavy societal expectations, but draco refused to turn a blind eye and to make excuses for things he knew, in his gut, was wrong.
I feel like book 4 was definitely my favorite book. the amount of highlights I had of draco pining over hermione is concerning. I love the amount of canon divergences there was in this fic but it still remained so canonical in its own way?? and the politics!!! the politics were so interesting to read and made the tension for the war so realistic and dreadful.
book 5 *sighhhh.. * literally a swoon fest. I loved this book too and how everything ties together with the political tension, and the divisions between houses. the progression of draco and hermione’s relationship in this book made me cry because it got me thinking, damn this boy is SO in love with her and he’s not fucking around AT ALL. by this point, draco started reminding me of manacled draco with his ruthlessness towards anyone who would hurt hermione.
I spoke of draco so much in this review, but this version of hermione GOD.. I LOVE HER SO BAD. she reminded me so much of detraquee hermione. she’s so brutal and headstrong. her and draco’s friendship was the best thing that ever happened and cured me of my desire to consume the 8th year dramione unlikely bffs trope 😭
I also loved how their friend group was an iconic quartet and not a trio. with the addition of daphne my darling girl!! the absence of ron weasley bashing was something I appreciated too. this ron was so in line with the books.. I wanted him and daphne to end up together.
I’m saddened by the fact that we’ll no longer receive any updates for lionheart, but I’m so thankful this piece of media exists. it’s really one of those fics where you finish and it feels like the trajectory of your life just shifted with the amount of possibilities this fic offered 😭

super tired of watching these characters argue. they argue like every single chapter. she doesn't know how to have characters talk about things they disagree about without trying to take chunks out of each other
started out strong, now (after 750k words) i'm not so sure
making D part of the golden trio is weird and a misreading of what his strengths are as a foil. instead of creating a new role, he's just taking chunks of HG and HP's roles. like now HP is dumb as a brick
idk why tons of random things have changed. why would DM being part of the trio mean that he's the one who buys HP a firebolt? why would narcissa and snape have let wormtail to back to voldemort?
writing canon-alternative is apparently super tricky, bc unlike after-canon, we already know how these events have happened. so now she's just writing an alternative that is more confusing and not as good as the original, without a justification as to why we're reading it. eg. umbridge was already terrible the first time around, why do we need an alternative umbridge who is just as bad and does very slightly different things?
omg I do not care about all the stuff going on with the slytherins and whatever side theo is on. seems like the original thesis in showing this friend group was to show that slytherins can be good, except they're almost all bad?
also don't understand why there's so much stuff added in about politics. and why on earth would scrimgeour be on the same side as umbridge?

“I love you,” she said, quite seriously. It did not sound like a happy statement. He didn’t know how to feel about that. “From any distance, from any height, from any disappointment, from every betrayal, just as I have loved everything that was ever worthy of it.”
“Mother,” he said, wishing fiercely to shuck his own skin and temporarily vacate it for less humiliating pastures.”
“What, Draco?” He jerked his head at Draco, half-smiling. “Nah. If the only thing between me and a jinx is Draco Malfoy’s sentimental feelings, I can kiss myself goodbye, mate.”
That stung. “Excuse me. I wouldn’t let you
perish,
thank you.”
“Don’t apologize, it’s what I like about you,” said Ron, surprising him. “One thing about you, it’s that you can get it done. You’re like a rook, you know? Shoot straight, kill ’em in the endgame.”

wip! i cant actually wait for this to be finished, at the same time i loathe the day it happens. i am just not ready for this to end.
the writing is so so incredible, the only thing that ever came close to me was detraquee, but still, this takes the cake. every single word is so well thought out and i will never do it justice by trying to explain it. you have to read it to see for yourself.
the character arcs and the absolute depth of knowledge the author has to have to write these characters so well, considering their age and all! its crazy to me, everything makes perfect sense and the growth of everyone is so evident but the process is so slow and real, incredible!

Book completely reimagines the entirety of HP from the Philosopher's Stone up to OotP (so far) where Draco is sorted into Gryffindor.
PROSE SO GOOD IT FEELS LIKE A TRADPUB and appropriately snooty and posh for being draco pov
PLOT CHANGES ARE SO COOL, BUTTERFLY EFFECT IN THE BEST WAYS THAT MAKE SENSE BOTH WITHIN THE CANON AND IN THE CONTEXT OF THIS STORY, COMING OF AGE TROPE EXECUTED SO WELL
LOVE WHAT THEY DID WITH CHARACTERIZATION ITS TOO GOOD... EVERY CHARACTER FEEELS LIKE THE ORIGINAL, LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BUT MORE NUANCED, MORE FLESHED OUT...THE INTERACTIONS, THE BANTER, THE RELATIONSHIPS

Hands down the best draco,best Hermione,best everything aaahhhhh.The story basically starts with Draco getting sorted into gryffindor in first year and we follow his journey through his pov.It is a WIP.But it already has become the ultimate dramione for me.Book 4 is complete and we are halfway through to book five.So obviously it's going to be a very very slow burn.But the yearning.....just chef's kiss.

This WIP Dramione/re-write of the OG Harry Potter books is the best fanfic I've ever read - and I've been digging DEEP in the rabbit-hole that is Dramione. I can't sing Lionheart's praises enough. Very much looking forward to the updates greenTeacup posts, as I am now fully caught-up and nursing the biggest book hangover I've ever had.

I haven't read a better written Harry Potter fanfiction. This one is top notch with well developed characters , I only wish the author had been able to complete it with all the 7 books. Maybe she will, who knows?
