A really fantastic book that was a heart twister and full of good advise and frustration. Read in one day - brilliant. Highly recommended. The best book I’ve read this year.
Grab the Kleenex, take some time for a story that will hurt, make you smile and fill your heart.
If this story was about Georgia and Pippa it would be wonderfully romantic and hot. So true for any Claire Highton-Stevenson book. It however so much more. A tragic moment tears a hole in a family and dear friend's world. The author takes you through their journey in healing. There are messy, awful moments that had me crying and doing my best to breathe. The characters were so real I felt Max and Cassie as they struggled to understand what happened. Robbie was angry and as the oldest trying to take care of her siblings. Pippa is the best friend who's love is a gift. Georgia has her world tuned upside down and has to figure out a new version. This story of how they move forward cracked my heart. The emotions were felt and the healing that took time, love and facing life together makes this such a gripping story. Claire continues to bring new depth to the world she writes for the reader. Each story different, better and more heart touching. This story will sit with me for some time.
Heal Their Hearts by Claire Highton-Stevenson is a contemporary romance about two women who only meet because of a tragedy.
Georgia isn’t interested in falling in love, or long term relationships. She is happy with the arrangements she has with women who want nothing more than she’s willing to give. She loves to be in control in and out of the bedroom and until recently thinks she is living the life she’s always wanted. A tragic accident in which her sister and brother in law are killed bring Georgia back to the village she grow up in, to the family she loves but keeps at arms length and to a life she thought she never wanted. After meeting her sisters best friend Pippa, Georgia questions if she has ever really been happy, Pippa makes her feel things she never thought she would, she makes her want to give up control and that’s something that both scares and excites Georgia. But these women need each other as friends to help get through the awful loss of their sister/best friend and the challenges that entails so is it wise to start a relationship when you’re brought together through tragedy?
Georgia is a great character, she’s strong willed, confident and happy with her life, until it’s turned upside down and now she has no clue how she’s going to make it through. After her sister and brother in law die she finds herself the guardian of her 2 nieces and her nephew. She doesn’t think she’s cut out for parenthood but willingly gives up her life to embark on a new journey that leaves her feeling out of place and unsettled. Georgia is a strong, resilient, kind hearted woman. I felt her pain and turmoil, I wanted to hug her and tell her she could do it, that’s she is brave and that everything would be ok.
This book is heartwarming as well as heartbreaking. You get to see how all the characters (mum, dad, sister, children and friend) deal with the tragedy, but you also get to feel the love and trust they have for each other. You see the strength they show for each other and the compassion they have for one another when they fall apart.
The romance between Georgia and Pippa is hot and complicated and truly beautiful. These women are polar opposites in personality but at their core the values they have are shared and after a few false starts the love the have is strong and true.
This is one of those books you can’t put down and I loved every minute of it.
Thanks to Claire for the arc I’m so glad I got to read this story. 📚♥️
Georgia’s life is turned upside down when her sister, Aston and her husband die in a plane accident, leaving behind their three children. Suddenly responsible for her two nieces and nephew, Georgia is dealing with her grief while having to adapt to a completely unfamiliar way of life. Luckily she has support from her parents, and finds solace in Pippa, her new neighbour.
This whole story broke my heart but was a great reminder that even when life has fallen apart and devastated you, there is always something hopeful awaiting. Georgia couldn’t have even imagined the turn her life abruptly took but she handled it with such courage and strength. I admired how despite what it meant for her, she carried out her sister’s wishes and took responsibility for the children. It was lovely she had support from Pippa, who was grieving the loss of her best friend and her own emotional connections to the situation, but she was always there when Georgia needed her.
There was a great balance between Georgia’s outgoing and daring personality, and the person she was becoming now her life had changed. The responsibility caused to take a hard look at her lifestyle and assess whether she could find a compromise that meant she could remain in control of being her cool, outgoing self, just with some restraint. There were a mix of steamier moments, with ones that had me crying my eyes out. Each time I thought the worst was over, there would be a pang of emotional overwhelm at a moment or something said, an event, or shared experience that mimicked so much what grief does in life – hit you completely unexpectedly.
Another moving and heartbreaking story from Claire that builds on emotional connection between the characters and readers to deliver a deep and personal experience. Really loved this story and can’t recommend it enough.
Georgia's life is going to plan. She has a great job, a fantastic apartment and women galore. Then her sister and her husband are killed in a plane crash. Leaving 3 younger children. And their to go to her. Pippa was Aston's (the sister) bestfriend and next door neighbor. She's also Cassie's (one of the children) teacher. The attraction is immediate. But, with all going on, will things work out? This is an AMAZING book! It's one of my favorites for the year! Worthy of more than 5 stars!
When I cry when the characters cry, or laugh when they laugh, I know the author has done an excellent job of describing the characters and situations. Enjoyed this book immensely.
This is a beautiful story of a family that is suffering from a tragedy and trying to heal. In a classic Claire Highton-Stevenson storytelling way, it plays on emotions and responsibilities. Georgia is a badass sexy single wlw living in London and enjoying her life. She doesn’t do relationships and feelings are not something she wants when trying to feel good. In the middle of one said encounter she gets a phone call that will change her life forever. This was such a sweet and sentimental story experience. Personally, I wish Claire Highton- Stevenson could put out a book everyday. The reading goes too fast and waiting for the next one is unbelievably long.
having sex with the girl you’re sort of using to make ur friend jealous in the bathroom at a pub right after your sisters funeral is crazy but good for them.
Giorgio Samuels is footloose and fancy free. She lives in London with a good job, Very nice apartment everything she could ever want. Don’t you get the phone call that her sister and her husband have died in a plane crash. Georgia is left is responsible for their three children. I found the plat very good and the story very heartwarming. I recommend this book for all who like a good love story.
Such a beautiful, heartbreaking story. I really loved seeing the characters change and learn to live again. I can’t decide who my favourite character is though…oh well, I’ll have to reread later and decide.
You will love this book and the family who the author brings to life. There is sadness, rebuilding and finding love and happiness after tragedy. Don’t miss a great read!
Wow, this book had me in tears. Gripping with intense emotion. Claire is sutch an amazing author, and truly captured the story with all its flare. So glad i read it, most definitely 1 of my all time favorites.
I really like this story when I only focus on the family part, is really good and it's nice seeing Georgia step up but the romance wasn't there for me and I wish it wasn't there at all, don't get me wrong, Pippa is awesome, I love her, she stands up for herself and know what she wants and that seems rare to me in books but the relationship feels like an after thought.
Before they get together Georgia spends as much time with random women as with Pippa, her emotional support when she was breaking apart was the woman she started off with, I don't feel like Pippa and Georgia talk that much or have that much in common, even though Pippa was Aston best friend she doesn't seem to interact very much with the kids and Georgia doesn't seem to need any help (I felt like for someone who didn't have any experience with kids she was too perfect) , it's seems to me this relationship grew out of Lust and escapism, Pippa got a little jealous, Georgia seemed unconserned and oblivious and like she felt nothing other than tentative friendship towards Pippa but got her ego bruised when Pippa found somebody else and suddenly she is jealous too, I don't really feel this relationship and I think the book would be better without it, should have focused solely on Georgia, the kids and her family.

I almost put this novel away after the first couple chapters. It seemed that, the story the synopsis presented was cast away, and replaced by a sapphic porn novel. Not that porn is not to be thoroughly enjoyed, but that was not the reason for which I chose to invest time in reading it. So, having faith in the reviewers, I continued reading and discovered a beautiful story of family unity, courage in the face of tragedy, maturation beyond expectation on the part of the main character, and a cast of characters that includes 3 children who, when confronted by death and possibly abandonment,? Pull together to form a true unit. A family consisting of disparate ages, strengths and weaknesses, fears and strengths, love and passion who form together to confront the tragic death of two of its members in a plane crash. This is a novel worth reading for its warmth and heroism, and yes, quite a bit of justifiable heat. I look forward to reading another novel by Ms. Highton-Stevenson.
Claire Highton-Stevenson wrote an emotional book where love truly heals. This book is filled with chemistry and passion. It had me in tears a few times, which, for me, is rare. I loved the premise and the interaction between the MCs and as well as the secondary characters. I would have loved to see more of the antics that a 5 yo, 9 yo, and 15 yo could do to a new guardian, but yet understand the conundrum of not going there.
My only issue is the writing style of the author. It is not the first book I have read by this author, and I have seen the pattern of switching to different views amidst the other or within the secondary characters sections, which causes me to get confused. However, I still enjoyed the book and will most likely be reading more of this authors work.
A story about how to readjust your live after a plane crash. Georgia's sister and brother in law are in a plane crash leaving three child for her to raise. Her life of women and having to move just wasn't what she wanted, but would done anything for her nieces and nephew and her sister. Pippa is Atson, Georgia sister's next door neighbor and best friend. Aston really wanted them to meet and hopefully as a couple. Things get crazy and a new family instantly but Georgia just has a funny feeling about Pippa. A good book to read
Well, ain't much I didn't feel by the end of this book. There was laughter and steamy scenes, there was anger and tears, there was loads of smiles and even some Christmas cheer. Two chuckleheads find one another amidst the havoc that grief can cause and become one another's touchstone in healing. Loved the little family, the parents, and the MC's as they each made their way through the storm together.
Wow! Claire has done it again. This is an amazing story that deals with such tough subject matter yet in an extremely compassionate matter. She still has moments of levity & of course a lovely romance. I got so invested in the characters I didn't want the story to end!! Thank you Claire!
This is perhaps one of the most tpouching stories about sudden loss and the impact on those who remain and who are left with the never answered question of why. The characters are well written and engaging and the kids are just gems..........sudden loss is crushing but the way these characters face adversity with understanding, acknolwedging their mistakes and learning is so touching and real.
I cried, then I laughed and cried some more. This was such a heart felt story. Some sad and emotional moments and healing along the way and finding love through tragedy. This is by far my favorite author and definitely a good read as all her books are. Make sure you have tissues on hand
So this was a pretty great story. It dealt with a lot of heavy subjects and played them quite well. However and the reason I only gave it 4 stars is that I encountered several errors and typos so it could definitely use some editing.
I really thought the love story of this book would be my favourite part but my god the way it dealt with depression and grief absolutely broke my heart?? i was rooting for georgia so hard in a guardian role and seeing that family cope with such a tragedy was so heartwarming
I started this book excepting to make it through without the tears, but that came. It’s a book the touched my soul by reading it as a child that lost her mom at a young age. Excellent written with true experiences of children dealing with death.
