[ Diversity Management: Triple Loop Learning By Flood, Bob ( Author ) Hardcover 1996 ]

Rate this book
This book provides a strong intellectual contribution to the now widely debated issue of managing diversity. It carefully blends theory and practice in order to provide substance to the debate on diversity management in the social and systems sciences. The focus on triple loop learning increases the fullness of learning about the diversity of issues and dilemmas faced. It brings together single and double loop learning in one overall awareness so that the process is more reflexive and those involved can operate more intelligently and responsibly. Diversity Management is illustrated with case studies and shows theoreticians and interventionists how Critical Systems Thinking and Total Systems Intervention can work together within social theory.

A good idea for a book, but a terrible implementation.

The idea of the book consists of trying to relate different views on how to improve, change, and remake the system, and how to choose between different system methods for doing so, etc.

If you're not interested in philosophy of science and in endless "to be or not to be" disputes, save your nerves and skip to chapters 6 or 7.
But if you suffer from insomnia you can start from chapter 2, a decent night's sleep will be guaranteed to you.

The author uses unnecessary philosophical jargon wherever possible, making a classical mistake in trying to present simple ideas by using unnecessary complicated language.
By the end of the sixth chapter, majority of you will be bored to death and will trow the book in the garbage can, that is how dry that book's content is.

I'm only surprised that the author didn't use Latin or some fancy French words to complete the picture for greater effect.

Overall, the book is so depressing that I had to force myself to finish it.
The author's other books on the subject are much better than this one.
