Anyone who has survived golf with a sense of humor can expect to enjoy FORE! PLAY. Geist offers tips on cheating and ways to "manage" your score. The chapter on blind golfers brings forth laughter and empathy. A fun read on a hot day when you didn't venture out to the links for actual golf.

Not a bad book...I am a fan of Bill Geist's weekly segment of CBS Sunday Morning, which was part of the reason I picked up this book. I've also lived the frustrations that somehow find every amateur golfer, ranging from the "on-the course" frustrations with triple and quadruple bogeys to serpentine treks to each hole, to the expense and arrogance found in just trying to play a good round of golf. Geist takes pot shots at the entire golf process, sarcasticly lampooning the golf show conventions with their game improvement gadgets to the lifestyle of the rich and famous with their exclusive golf clubs and country club life. At the same time, he's not above lampooning himself in his efforts to be golfer, criticizing his own abilities on the golf course and letting the readers know that it's OK to go out and expose your golf game like he has done. There were some slow parts in the book that sort of left me anxious to get through, but overall, not a bad read.

Bill Geist humorously portrays the agony and the struggles of "Everyman's" attempts to enter the world of golf. The laughter helps to ease the psychological and psychic pain of trying to learn how to transform yourself onto a golfer. The pain and personal embarrassment remain yet we can now laugh with the knowledge that we are not alone with our 40 + Handicaps.
Thanks Bill.

You don't have to be a golfer to enjoy this book. This guy is funny! I'm giving this to my golfer son for Christmas.
