Take a trip to Compass Cove, an enchanted town full of magic and mayhem…
When a strange magical curse begins to petrify the townsfolk, it’s up to Zora to uncover the source of the curse before it’s too late. Zora has her own troubles to deal with, however. A problematic ghost is haunting a local hotel and needs removing. If that wasn’t enough mysterious ‘death circles’ are appearing across town, destroying local wildlife.
As she delves deeper into the latest batch of mysteries, Zora uncovers a sinister secret that doesn’t just threaten Compass Cove, but the entire wizarding community. New enemies and old are back on the lake’s magical shores, and they bring magic the likes of which have never been seen.
The clock is ticking, and the stakes are higher than Zora could ever have imagined. Will Zora and her family be able to save Compass Cove from destruction this time, or will they fall victim to the curse themselves? Find out in this thrilling tale of magic, mystery, and mayhem.

Zora Wick was complaining to her sister about how Romero was driving her crazy. He was her replacement guardian when Blake left for 6 months of paternity leave. With Zora being a rare witch, she was overwhelmed with people coming at her with their needs, even bad guys who wanted to kill her or recruit her. So she had two guardians. The other was Hudson who is now her boyfriend and lives with her. Harley, an adopted teenage daughter, also lives there. And lots of familiars, along with her ghostly Aunt Constance. But Romero was obnoxious. With Hudson rounding up escaped rabbits, she is stuck with Romero. And he just smacked her chili dog out of her hand and onto the sidewalk… in case it was poisoned! The whole time, her sister was munching on her own chili dog, but she wasn’t part of “the protection detail”. And she would have done him terrible bodily harm if he tried to take it from her.
But nothing remains quiet in this town, and a curse has started to work its way through the townsfolk, petrifying them into stone. Could they be changed back? Or could this last forever? Even Zora may not be “immune”! There is a cure, according to her talking cat Hermes, but it will take the entire coven working together… and Zora knows getting even her own family members work together would be an absolute miracle! Can they do this?
Another day, another problem for our heroine. This one is a doozy and could spell disaster for the entire town. Let's hope our heroine is at the top of her game.
This is book ten of the series, but it does just fine as a standalone. No prior reading is required.
This is a cozy witch mystery with a bakery as the centerpiece. The story is well written, easy to read with a great setting filled with mystery and intrigue. The characters are well done and certainly provide some interesting variety within the story. The mystery is good, with enough twists to it to keep you going up until the end. I loved the zany bits throughout the story as they add a nice touch of humor. Overall, another very fun read and I look forward to more in this series.
Highly recommended.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. There are three different cases going on at the same time that Zora has been called in to handle along with Hermes helping as part of his community service. Two of the cases are solved with happy endings but the third is much more dangerous and still in progress. It's a mystery to keep you hopping and hopefully Zora's new abilities will help.
Compass Cove is up to its standard in this cozy mystery. The paths taken to solve the three main threads twist surprisingly, so much so that at the denouement we are left with a satisfied smile, saying "Alrighty then!"
Now I am looking for the eleventh... Or another related series?
Excellent reading, read 10 books of this series so far and enjoyed them all and looking forward to reading the rest of the series, hopefully Mara Webb carries on writing many more books in this series as I'm getting through them quickly
Neat series of books, very enjoyable characters with good plots! Plot lines that cover lots of imagination and humor. These books kept me interested in following the various changing situations that the characters go through in this small town named Compass Cove. Many thanks to the author, Mara Webb !
Start at the beginning and read through all 10 books. The journey is worth it. Good character development. They're all pretty fleshed out and not the same. The have good points and quirks and specific talents. Each story line builds on the previous one and you accumulate info the way Zora accumulates familiars.
Again, decent story, but be warned, this doesn't resolve the plot points of the series. I haven't looked yet, so hopefully the conclusion ends up in a different series? She did do a cameo of one of the protagonists from another series (Pendle Island) right at the very end.
Update: Nah, looks like this is the end. No resolution for us. Boooooo.
This installment has you cheering for Zora and the Compass Cove Crew!! I love many of the character and the different mysteries. Hermes is hilarious! Cannot wait to read more.
I enjoyed this series, but there wasn’t enough magic in it!! At times too, it seemed as if it was being written by dictation. Many mistakes like your and you’re used incorrectly. I’d read other series by the same author. A nice way to pass some leisure time.
The Compass Cove series is always full of twists and turns but never fails to entertain. Between the fun and interesting characters or the convoluted plot twists, I couldn’t stop reading till the end. Can’t wait for the next book to come out.
The end of the series goes out with a bang - and leaves room for the next! In this book we have a Polterghost, people getting turned to stone, and a serious confrontation with some dark witches - which surely can't end well . . . great series - look forward to future stories in Compass Cove!
I have read all ten books in this series. As I finished one I would start the next one. I found them entertaining and I highly recommend them to anyone that likes clean refreshing books.
I have enjoyed this whole series, and this one is no exception. There is a lot going on and it ends with one unfinished storyline, so hoping she will be releasing book 11. If you want a fun read, this is it.
I don't know where to begin This has got to be the best book so far of all of them. She only gets better with each story I can't wait for the next book it's a great series
Sadly this wasn't my favorite book of the series, there were just to many story lines going on that I lost interest when the dark witches showed up. Hopefully the next book will be better.
I had gotten all of these books as a box set. I truly enjoyed all 10 books until I got to the end. I was not thrilled that this book ended the way it did.
