In a nutshell, "The Invention of Primitive Society" is Kuper's critique of anthropology's very foundation based on ethnocentric thought and supposed cultural superiority of the West that has plagued the discipline since the mid 19th century.

Nicely written. A goot start for the anthropology of kinship.
