When a new enemy comes out of the dark, the human head of the Human/Specs Enforcer Union is forced to work with his vampire counterpart. Can London put aside his dislike of Pascal St-Maurice to fight a common enemy?
Captain London Weaver hates the dark season, the time when the skies over Spectrum turn dark and stay that way for months. It's when all the crazies come out, and the humans are at a definite disadvantage.
When a new enemy comes out of the dark, London joins forces with his immortal counterpart, Captain Pascal St-Maurice, a vampire who, as far as London is concerned, is a fancy pants with no respect for anything. In Pascal's opinion, London is anal, uptight, and prejudiced against his species. When they’re ordered to work together to confront a succubus that doesn't discriminate among victims, Pascal decides to make the best of it. However, that doesn't mean it's going to be easy.
Come and visit Spectrum Skies, a place where mortals and immortals have learned to live together in peace...or something like that.

I write not only for my own pleasure, but for the pleasure of my readers. I can’t remember a time in my life when I haven’t written and told stories. When I’m not writing, I’m dreaming about writing, doing something wild and adventurous, or trying to make the world a better and more open minded place to live in. I adore beautiful men, and I know I’m not alone in this! Eroticism between consenting adults, in all its many forms is the icing on the cake of life!
Spectrum Skies is interesting, imaginative and very hot. Oh, and it has vampires and lots of other paranormal beings, which I love. The world it’s set in is highly unusual, and since I love finding out about “new worlds” and what makes them tick, this one was a treat.
Police captain London Weaver is, in many ways, the easier of the two main characters to understand. He is human, leads the human part of a police force, and hates vampires with a vengeance. Even though humans were the intruders in this world (about two hundred years ago as far as I understand the timeframe), he assumes, with the genetically built-in arrogance of our species, that everything should now be done according to human laws. His “nemesis” at work is equal in rank and a vampire, and everything the man does rubs London the wrong way. Their sparring is hilarious.
Captain Pascal St-Maurice is, at first glance, an arrogant vampire, bent on flaunting his superior fashion sense, strength, and good looks. Gradually discovering how much more there is behind this façade was a true treat. It was quite a feat to pull this off, since much of the story is told from his point of view, yet not much about his background is revealed until fairly late in the book. I ended up really liking him as well, but D.J. Manly definitely made me work for it.
If you’re looking for an imaginative story with a bit of magic, a sprinkle of adventure and a dollop of the paranormal, and if you like hot vampires and stubborn men who fight for dominance, almost missing the fact they are in love, you will like this book. I think it’s one of the most interesting vampire books I have ever read—in a totally unexpected setting. Not really contemporary, not really fantasy or futuristic either, but definitely in a world of its own. You’ll have to read it for yourself and see—I bet it’ll be worth it!

Let's see, what I like ... the banter of London and Pascal, BEFORE they finally get it on. It's fun and light, and I like Pascal being so flirty and makes London uncomfortable. Naughty, naughty Pascal. I also like the whole world concept, what with the human and Spec force.
I like the secondary characters, like the big bad Midnight and his lover, Lilith, as well as the demon worm who appears later in the story. AAAAND, at first I was worried with the MMM warning, but it turns out that it's more hilarious rather than something to worry about. See, Pascal has this twins human pets, who serve him blood and well, sex. But they're getting annoying and whiny, and I even think they're there to give more humorous tone when they're trying to seduce Pascal. The MMM is between them, and have nothing to do with London.
What I don't like?? The "slutty" and toys-BDSM play that Pascal and London are having after they're together. Throws the mood a bit for me. If they're into BDSM/slutty play, I prefer to have the tone set from the beginning. But there's not pointers that it will be like that, so I'm not liking it for them. Also they become a bit too emotional after awhile.
...I seem to have seen a lot of "pissant"s lately. Except these peopel persist in calling it "piss ant." I am much aggravated by this oversight and regret there is nothing I can do to demand it be rectified.
Okay, this one was really, really weird. Like, Torquere weird.
And if you shout someone's name, you probably elongate the vowels, not the consonants, so "Pascaaaaaaaal." Not "Pascallllll."
Back to initial point.
What the hell was going on? The entire thing was...skew. I mean, kudos, I guess, for the whole "this is a different world"
But it was...off-setting.
And then things escalated way too quickly. It's like the author gave up and was like, "Ah, fuck it. It's too difficult to write seriously" and halfway through made it satire of who knows the fuck what.
There was also several notes of underlying racism that really annoyed me which were later "solved" through a series of rather convenient deus ex machinas.
The second part of "Spectrum Skies" is released and this meant only one thing, a must re-read of a first part. And that exactly what I did. By re-reading the first part I have to admit, I loved it and will probably re-read it again in the future. Recommended read!

First, I really like the cover of this book. It's really pretty in a dark way. This plotted story was full of comic, emotions, enjoyable character, well developed interaction between them. This story was well developed with fully packed action, there was not a minute of boringness. The only negative point which bothered me personally, was this "slutty" pillow talk and all those toys between London and Pascal, at the end. It didn't feel right. I know it was playful game between lovers in love, but somehow, it wasn't for me. In overall it was well created story from the authors side and actually believable, too. I loved it!
London is the captain of the human side of the Human/Specs Enforcer Union and dislikes most things supernatural, especially the Vampires. But, now as a new threat is uncovered, he has to work closely with one, Pascal. Pascal is the captain of the Specs side of the Human/Specs Enforcer Union and likes most humans, but London gets right up his nose. When he finds out he has to work closely with London, he decides to have some fun.
This is a well written imaginative story with a really good plot and story-line. London has something in his past that has colored his judgment against vampires. When he has to work with Pascal, he tries hard not to soften towards the sexy vampire. Pascal does everything he can to get London to bend and really enjoys winding him up in the process. As the two get closer to cracking the case, the two MCs get closer as well. When Pascal’s life is in danger London does everything he can to save him.
These two MCs strike sparks off each other. The banter between them is brilliant and so are the sex scenes… very hot. I liked how Pascal draws London’s slight submissive side out and how he also submits to London as well. It was a very well done power exchange between them and the emotions that they share are quite erotic and touching. I thought that these two characters were well suited and have a lot of potential as a couple. The M/M/M scene is short and sweet and is all about the sex.
I have got to say that the setting is incredible, a hidden world in the South Pacific Islands where for 3 months of the year it stays mainly dark and the supernatural beings baser instincts come to the fore. Absolutely fantastic, I loved it, what an incredible imagination D.J. Manly has.
So I recommend this to those who love paranormal, fantasy, hot men and hot vamps, even hotter sex, a bit of BDSM, a bit of danger and a really great story-line.

A Yummy Hot Human Cop Mets Yummy Hot self centered well dressed Vampire Cop and what do you get? A Match Made PERFRECTLY in Spectrum Skies! DJ has done it again!! Only DJ Manly can make being a vain vampire sexy hot and desirable! London our human police captain is hot sexy and got a hang up... He doesn’t much like Specs so much. Something (because I'm not telling) in his past has turned him against Vampires and then we have Vampire Captain Pascal St-Maurice is as vain as they come. He is good enough at his job but when a new and unforeseen enemy threatens not only the Humans but the Specs Alike our unlikely Duo has to save the day if they don’t kill each other or themselves first. We our unlikely pair work through their issues and comes together to bring down an unforeseen enemy or will they die trying?
DJ Manly has done it again. I swear DJ’s Vampires get hotter and hotter with every story. Throw in some Werewolves as well as various other supernatural specs and you have yourself one hell of a hot ass story. I know that by the time I put my e-reader down I couldn’t wait to see what happens next. Sometimes tells me that this dynamic duo can put Batman and Robin to shame. As always DJ’s Characters are believable. London is the picture perfect rumbled police Detective you see in all the movies and books. He loves his job and what he does for his community and only wants what’s best for others before his self.
Pascal St-Maurice is a Vampire unto himself, Cocky, self assured, Vain and Looks like the devils own in a pair of tight black leather pants. He takes want his wants and is use to getting his way... Well except when it comes to a certain pair of Twins in his care and a Human Detective he is secretly crushing for. When they are both faced with their past and present it’s interesting to see who comes to whose rescue when the chips are down.
On my Scale of Erect Peni of 1-10 DJ’s Spectrum Skies Gets a 10++ Sorry but DJ can make anything seem hot and sexy and His Vampires are to die for in my humble opinion. Both the main Characters are down and Dirty sexy men and their sex scenes are not different.
Now on my Scale of sell the Kids to buy this book and it can wait to pay day. Hands down Put the Kiddies on E-bay and get this book ASAP! This is the first book in a series of books and you don’t want to miss out and I look forward to all the books to come!!!
4.5 Rating Keeping law and order on Spectrum is a challenge most of the time. However, during the dark season, enforcing the law is almost impossible. Nevertheless, Captain London Weaver, the head of the Human Enforcers, and Captain Pascal St-Maurice, the head of the Specs Enforcers, are determined to work together for the safety of all the residents.
Spectrum Skies is the first book in Spectrum Skies series. The setting is a South Pacific island named Spectrum. The island is cloaked by magic to protect the immortal residents. But, many generations ago a ship load of humans found the island and were allowed to settle as well as raise families. The dramatic plot centers on the two divisions of cops joining forces to destroy a demon who can kill both humans and immortals. The characters are creditable.
Past experience with vampires has caused London to become bitter. London has an almost racist attitude regarding humans cohabitating with immortals, especially vampires. Yet, London finds vampire Pascal too irresistible to completely ignore though London tries until Pascal saves London’s life.
Pascal is a fashion diva, a good natured jokester and a gentleman. He shows every law abiding citizen the respect they are due. Pascal has been secretly attracted to London for years; though he never approached London as a potential lover. Pascal never forces himself on anyone, plus he only bites the men who ask to be bitten.
D. J. Manly has created a fantastic saga that I thoroughly enjoyed. The storyline features a vast array of interesting creatures, brawls as well as amazing intimacy scenes.
I give this book 4 stars. The action pace of the book is solid from the beginning and stays solid through out. The flow of the mystery side of the story was smooth. The flow of the romance side was jerky, flipping and flopping until the last part of the book. The best part of this book was the crime solving aspect of the story. I enjoyed the way the mystery folded out, and the unique blending of the supernatural-human combo teams that worked together. There is a fair amount of bantering between the characters. Often this worked towards living up the dialog and increasing the bonding of the characters BUT not always. There were a few parts where the constant bantering got 'too much' for me. I have to say that this story has some weak areas in the Romance of the Main characters that detracted from my enjoyment. YET as the story progressed and we finally got into the "not all vampires are bad" stage things picked up nicely in the relationship scenes. The sex in the last half of the book is so much hotter then the first part of the book. The first part had me totally annoyed when the character started an inner monolog during the sex, and I was like WTF? It totally pulled me out of the story and had me rolling my eyes. But like I said it does get better as the book progresses. So over all I would say this is a better then average read. I recommend this story to those who like crime solving, supernatural beings, and MM Romance stories.
LoL I actually really enjoyed this. The dialogue was awesome between London and Parcel and I found myself laughing out loud most of the time.
It did peeve me the London was so prejudice for a lot of the book, it was kinda like Okay dude we get it you don't like they but shit, at least be fake about it and don't dump all over everyone else's happiness cause you picked the wrong guy ONE DAMN TIME. sheesh!
Also, what relationship goes from 0-60 that damn quick. Because London didn't like the vamp at all and then once the confrontation happens its bam I love him, he is mines, beats chest. I mean I get it, It's a book it happens and I guess it makes sense at the speed the book was reading.
There were times when the book felt rushed, but I'm thinking that is what the author wanted. It didn't lagg off that path or anything, and the speed pretty much stayed consistent. So all in all it turned out good.
It was good and entertaining but I had a couple issues with the book:
1) I found London fell too quickly for Pascal. The transaction wasn't smooth and believable enough for me. Being endangered and hearing a confess of love while under the incubi spell shouldn't automatically have Landon groveling at Pascal's feet.
2) The sex between London and Pascal felt a bit degrading. Sure, Landon didn't mind the name calling and whatnot but it was a bit of a uncomfortable read. The bondage and whipping stuff I didn't mind so much (seems lately there's a lot of bdsm related stuff happening in books).
Even with those issues, the book was hard to put down. Pascal and London had great chemistry and reader's could feel it even when they didn't get a long. The problems that arose while working together were amusing.
This is probably the worst book by Manly I've ever read. Never been a big fan, but they're usually good for a casual read that's entertaining. Not this time. This book is a hot mess.
It's not an unpromising world, it has lots of little tidbits I like, and the banter and competitiveness between "alpha" males started out promising. But it felt as if Manly decided it was too hard to write seriously, and so it quickly became farcical. Not entirely on purpose, and so it turned out like craptastic fan fiction by a newbie writer who bit off more than she could chew, instead of written by a writer who's been around the block a few dozen times.
Worst was probably the inconsistency of the characters. Badass vampires do not turn into teenage girls. And the sudden BDSM and humiliation play came out of the blue, and didn't feel real.
This book seems to have some fans seeing its rating and all but it really didn't do it for me.
The writing is immature and the characters aren't consistent. Their behavior completely change out of the blue and they fuck and call each other "slut" and "whore"? What the fuck? Is that supposed to be hot or something? And for god's sake, they're supposed to be badass and sometimes the conversations were so fucking weird. Like Pascal crying like a fucking teenage girl over I-alreay-forgot-his-name saying something romantic or whatever.
I really felt like I was reading a fanfiction written by a 14 year old girl. Seriously.
I loved the whole setting. A hidden island full of supernaturals, Specs, and humans trying to get along. London and Pascal's banter in the beginning of the book is great. London is just so uncomfortable and Pascal just seems to loved it. Pascal has wanted London for so long and puts up with his hate of Vampires. When the two finally get together you know that they will be perfect for each other.
3.5 stars. I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I really love m/m vampire stories, but I just can't seem to find many that I love. The relationship in this one was just odd, to me. Definitely insta-love on one side. I haven't decided if I'll go on with the series or not.
Wow. Could not put this one down. Everything worked for me - the world building, the plot, the characters. The only thing that kept it from five stars was the number of times I had to re-read to see whose POV I was following.
With a perverted sex monster on the loose the human and non-human police have to team up to bring the monster down. The story is often predictable as the human vs. non-human mentality was never going to last. Everything revolved around sex which eventually grew tiresome.
NO!!!!!!! It was a good book, with two strong MC...and when they have sex for the first time ... the human bottoms and became a slut ( the autor's word) ... add BDSM on the top! Why??? a good start, and we fell in cheesy clichés, with no originality at all. what a waste!!!!
Interesting plot but I couldn't connect with main couple London and Pascal especially sex scenes between them. D.J. Manly is making sex ugly the way he wrote it.
