Bay embraces the hedonistic LA lifestyle following the death of her mother, until a drunken argument with her stepfather results in an ultimatum - leave the city or lose the generous allowance he provides. He has even arranged a temporary job for her, as a photographer in Australia, the country of her birth and the country where her unknown father lived. Bay takes the opportunity, recognising both the destructive nature of her current lifestyle and the need to find that there is more to life than the LA party scene. In travelling to Daintree, Queensland, she begins to read the Bible she received as a parting gift from Richard, her previous boss and photography mentor, and in a moment where everything seems to be going wrong, turns her life over to Jesus.

In travelling to Daintree, Queensland, she begins to read the Bible she received as a parting gift from Richard, her previous boss and photography mentor, and in a moment where everything seems to be going wrong, turns her life over to Jesus. A series of coincidences then lead her to Resolution Island, the beautiful but run-down and isolated resort her father owns. Here she meets and befriends Flynn while learns more about her heavenly Father as she waits for her earthly father to return. But all is not well on their island paradise, as someone else wants it too…

Back to Resolution opens at a funeral, which is a little unusual, but it was immediately engaging. This is probably because characters were flawed yet likeable, which is pretty much true to life (and who wants perfect characters in fiction or in real life?). The story was well thought out, and got stronger as the book progressed. The writing broke several current writing conventions in that it was more ‘tell’ than ‘show’ and there was a lot of descriptive writing and too little dialogue. Despite these potential faults, it worked.

The second book in the Resolution series will be released in April 2012. Beyond Resolution will feature Jed (Flynn’s brother), and a Kings Cross stripper named Samara (Flynn’s ex-girlfriend). Thanks to Even Before Publishing for providing a free ebook for review.

I really enjoyed this novel of a spoilt young woman, cut off by her philandering step-father after her mother's death. Her downward spiral into the LA party scene with its dark underbelly is curtailed when he gives her one last injection of cash: to get out of the country and stay away.

She heads to North Queensland in search of the father who, until recently, she thought had deserted her mum. On her deathbed, her mother confessed that she had left her father. And, so her step-father reveals, cleaned him out so thoroughly financially that it took him years to be able to get enough money to come to the US in search of his 'Baby Jane'. A name she'd always shortened to Bay.

Bay gets a photographer's job in the Daintree. Then, as her money runs out and, in her desperation, she decides to return home to the US, she shoots up a plea to heaven in the middle of Cairns airport. Almost immediately she is recognised by a wealthy Texan she's never met and who hails her across the concourse. He knows exactly who she is and how to contact her father.

That last sounds less intriguing than the novel makes it: however, perhaps this coincidence was just a little too miraculous. (Especially given the nature of the real Cairns airport where I've been in the last three months. Ok, well artistic licence...)

But the instructions the Texan gives on how to find her father turn out to be a little less than helpful. She winds up on a deserted tropical paradise of an island with Flynn, a man recovering from his past...

I loved:

* the scene in the bar when the locals gang up on Bay to hide all pertinent information from her in the belief she's up to no good.

* the trick Amos plays on her with the imaginary crocodile in the mangroves

Things I didn't like:
* sudden jumps in time that aren't revealed for a couple of sentences or a couple of paragraphs. Whether it's a couple of days later or a couple of weeks, I found myself disoriented and 'bumped' out of the story by the misplaced notification of a significant time lapse.

From our CALEB reviewers:

Bay Anders is modern, vibrant and beautiful and living the life of a privileged few in LA. Her mother’s death-bed confession results in her becoming a young woman on a mission.

Her step-father’s withdrawal of financial support adds to her confusion. Who am I? What is my real name? Who and where is my father? What is the meaning of life? These are but a few of the questions that continue to bombard her.

She travels to North Queensland where she experiences unexpected romance with an equally unlikely partner. She loves the natural beauty of the tropical rainforest almost as much as the magnetic attraction of an almost abandoned reef island. Life here was as far from LA as it was possible to get.

Only after much heartache and many joys are all her questions answered in a series of God-incidents that only God could orchestrate.

Read the full story - it is well worth the read - in Rose Dee’s exciting romantic mystery novel Back to Resolution.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Bay and Flynn are fascinating characters who you’ll want to get to know as their relationship develops throughout the story. There are a number of humourous moments as city girl Bay adapts to life on a remote North Queensland island. There was also an honesty in the way the author portrayed the growing attraction between Bay and Flynn and this book could be considered ‘edgy’ by more conservative readers.

The setting is gorgeous and I became absorbed in an idyllic tropical island setting that I didn’t want to leave when the book ended. Back to Resolution is Book 1 in Rose Dee’s series and I’m looking forward to reading Book 2, Beyond Resolution. I recommend this book to those looking for a fun and romantic contemporary story set in Australia.

three and a half stars.I associated with Bay at the first page, having also had a mother die too young of cancer. So that hooked me right in. Bay’s relationship with her mother, Kate, had been a real love/hate relationship, and that with her stepfather one where he has provided financially but not as a father in other ways. Bay’s own father had, according to her mother, run off when he found out Kate was pregnant. However just before her death, Kate admits Bay’s father hadn’t run off but she had left him because he couldn’t give her what he wanted, which was riches and the things it could buy.

With her mother gone, Bay has a desire to find her father. She discovers a little more information about him but it’s not much to go on. She also takes refuge in partying and alcohol, getting her into a few scrapes which result in her deciding to accept her stepfather’s offer of a job with a photographer in Australia. While there she meets Flynn Mc Kenna, a recluse from the world, who works for her father who seems to have gone missing.

I loved the way the nickname of Bay came about and thought that was a really good touch. The descriptions of the scenery of North Queensland and the Aussieisms of locals made interesting reading and the scene getting into the boat was funny. The novel contained other humorous incidents as the city girl Bay adjusts to a different life. I enjoyed reading this novel, even though at times I found Bay’s decisions and choices inexplicable and a little implausible, like the way she took off so easily for the island of Resolution with Amos, a stranger recommended by Archie, the owner of the bar. But maybe that’s just me. If you can disregard that and just get caught up in the story, you will enjoy the mystery, the romance and the setting.

I was sent this book by the author to read and review. I am so glad I had a chance to read this book. Its Rose's debut novel and a very good read. The story is about Bay Anders who is looking for something, her mother has died and finds her father is alive after being told he died after she was born. The journey takes her to Queensland and finds her father loves on a island of the North Queensland coast. Here she meets Flynn who works for her father but keeps to himself. She also fines her father is missing. The story talks about Bays journey from a life of privilege to a remote island and how she adjusts to what life throws at her. Bay is much stronger and down to earth woman than most give her credit for. While searching for her father she learns more about her life and what matters most. This book deals with several issues including finding yourself, forgiveness, perceptions to name a few. This is a good book that I didn't want to put down and am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series. I actually told the author I didn't want to say goodbye to the charters and she told me there will be another book.

After living a life of wealth and privilege, young Bay Anders finds herself lost. Her step father sets her up with an allowance to allow her to pursue her photography hobby in Australia while grieving the loss of her mother. She begins her search for her father but when her allowance is cut off, she soon runs out of funds and feels she has no other option but to return to LA.

It’s contemporary, it’s inspirational and it has a touch of romance… I loved this book!

I greatly enjoyed Rose Dee's Back to Resolution. The title was great to begin with and I was pleased to find that Resolution was a place not a noun as one was led to think - a lovely little bit of mystery there with the pun. I really liked the main character Bay Anders and her journey from LA to Australia; also her journey as a Christian. Enjoyed the mystery and the varying scenery. The pace of the book was excellent. The Christian elements in the story are also very appealing. Loved the ending. I fully recommend it.

I really enjoyed Back to Resolution. I think one of the main things that pleased me about it was that it didn't feature stereotypical squeaky clean Christians. No, its two main characters were very human people who had lives prior to becoming Christians and struggled to 'walk the walk' all the time. It was far more realistic than the ones we often see in many American Christian novels.
I also loved the Northern Queensland setting. It makes me want to go on holidays.
An entertaining read.

I’m not sure how to begin this review because while I would have liked it there were elements that I just couldn’t get over with this being a Christian fiction book. I thought that Bay and Flynn were strong characters and well developed as was the plot line and I did enjoy it however I my reservations lie in the fact that Bay woke up in bed with an ex-boyfriend (even if they didn’t do anything), Bay seems concerned about modesty by yet wears revealing bikinis, see through shirts and other immodest clothing and then there is some cussing (however some words my husband wouldn’t classify as cussing, but I do).

Even after Bay becomes a Christian she still sports clothing that tempts Flynn even after he asks her to change. There is also a scene where they are laying on top of each other – at this point they are in love but they aren’t married and put themselves in a very tempting situation. I’m sure some would say I’m nitpicking however, no matter if I use the justification that she wasn’t saved before and that even Christians are tempted, it isn’t a book that I’d recommend to my friends. Had some of this not been included it would have been a great book but it had to many things that I just was not comfortable with reading.

Wow, disappointed it the first word that I have to say about this book. A story that was really a good story ruined by the first chapter of the book. I nearly put the book down then, but pressed on, and the story was good. However, when I read a book that includes mild profanity, a drunken scene with screaming and slapping, that ends up with the heroine drunk and sleeping (in a purely literal sense) with a former boyfriend, I am disappointed. PERIOD! It ruined the book for me. I am assuming this was intended to be a Christian book, even though I am not familiar with this publisher, the following story that mentions faith would indicate so. I seriously hope this author tries again without the improper situations and language, I felt from the rest of the story, that she is talented with her writing skills.

I cannot give this book anything but a poor rating. 2 stars. 227 pages

This book was provided for review purposes only. No payment was received for this review.

This review was changed at the request of the publisher to indicate the "sleeping together" was a literal sense, not sexual, that does not change my review or the amount of stars given.

Disgusted at the foul language!!
I will go ahead and confess that I did not finish this book. I read until chapter two, but could not take all the foul language! This is supposed to be a Christian book! I understand that some authors think the addition of curse words makes it more “realistic,” but if I wanted to read that, then I would read main-stream books! Christian books, in my opinion, should be clean. Please, say “he cursed” or something like that - it gets the point across just as well!
I was also extremely disappointed in the heroine. (SPOILER ALERT!) She wakes up in bed with someone, but isn’t upset about that! She was upset about who she woke up beside. And even though we learn in detail that nothing happened between them, I just lost all compassion or respect for her. Perhaps she came to be a Christian by the end of the book, which would cause it to be labeled Christian, but I wish there would have been a warning or a note about the language.
I received this book through The Book Club Network for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

A quick, easy Christian fiction read, “Back to Resolution” is well written, with well developed characters on a journey of their own. Bay Anders lived a life of wealth and privilege but finds herself lost after the death of her Mum. Bay’s step father sets her up with an allowance to allow her to pursue her photography hobby in Australia while grieving, but after she is cut off from it, begins the search for her father. Can’t say I liked Bay all the time, but a good fulfilling read to fill in the afternoon.

Bay Anders is trying to move on after her mother's death. Having grown up in a world of wealth, she pretty much always had everything she had ever desired, except the truth about her father. Her mother finally confesses the truth on her deathbed, turning Bay's world upside-down. To top it off, her stepfather Peter wants nothing more to do with her and sends her to Australia. Richard, the photographer with whom she had been working, decides he doesn't need her help anymore. He thinks she is destined for greater things. Lost and in desperate need of a fresh start, she decides to commence a search for her father, finding her way to a quiet island called Resolution.

There, she comes across Flynn McKenna. He prefers to be left alone, yet cannot keep himself away from Bay. The two of them join forces to uncover the mystery of Bay's father's disappearance, which happens to coincide with developers trying to take over the island. Can they keep their relationship on a friendly level, or will they give into temptation?

This Australian novel was fun to read. I always enjoy following a character as she strives to find herself again after life deals some difficult blows. That is a storyline to which most of us can relate. When a little romance enters into it all, even better. This book can be considered a "clean romance," as there are no sex scenes in it.

I also appreciate how Bay seeks to regain her faith. She asks for help and tries to pay attention to the signs that are sent to her. The book encourages reconnecting with God, without being preachy about it. Each person needs to find their way in their own fashion. Both Bay and Flynn are able to do this.

The mystery surrounding Bay's father can be a little far-fetched if you are looking for a realistic story. It reminds me of something from a soap opera plot. But that is why they call this fiction. It's a fun little mystery to keep it entertaining.

The descriptions of the Australian island are very tempting and make me want to go overseas right away. This made for a nice summer read.

Easy paced read.

Bay is a young woman full of promise, but the death of her mother sends her tumbling over the edge into the hard partying life of a rich socialite. After a drunken argument with her step father, Bay agrees to his wishes that she leave for Australia.
In Australia Bay searches for her long lost father, and meets the mysterious hermit Flynn McKenna. Will Bay find what she is looking for on the island of Resolution?

This book caught my attention right away with it's easy to read style and vivid descriptions of the settings. I even liked that there was a touch of mystery to the tale! Yet, there were times when I felt that the story moved slowly for my personal taste, but I liked how the pace was probably more realistic than in most books. There were brief instances of implied cursing, and mild cursing, that I feel I should mention, as well.

There were alot of things to like about this book, yet at the same time I had difficulty relating to any of the characters, or sympathizing with them. I think the reason was that I felt that the plot asked for the characters to have a bit more emotional depth than they did. Though I did like how the characters weren't perfect at all and they had their flaws that made them human. As you can see I'm a bit mixed up about the characters.

Overall, Back to Resolution was a book that was well written, but was rough around the edges. The descriptions were wonderful especially the ones about Australia. I think there are many readers out there who would whole-heartedly enjoy this pleasant, but tumultuous read.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!

I read Back to Resolution by Rose Dee (ISBN: 978-1-921633-60-7) via BookCrash. It's a Christian themed romance novel set in LA and Australia about a girl, Bay Anders, who struggles with loss and faith.

A murder mystery, deceit and romance all collide within beautiful scenery of an Australian island. Upon the death of her mother, Bay Anders only has her stepfather. He quickly dismisses her though to continue his own affairs. Bay, with nothing to lose, moves to Australia to try and locate her long lost biological father. While searching for her father, Dutch, Bay meets Flynn McKenna who quickly becomes a friend a need. Will Bay find what she has been searching for?

I thoroughly enjoyed Resolution by Rose Dee. The story was perfectly paced. The romance, mystery, drama, religious content, etc. were equally balanced. I believe, it's one of the most uniform stories I've read.

It's what I define as chic lit: the life story of a female between the ages 20 to 35. It's easy to live through Bay and feel like you're searching for your father living on an Australian island with the vivid imagery. The other characters in the book are authentic. I found a trait in each character that I liked and dislike making them all too real. Actually, I think Rose Dee looks how I pictured Bay Anders to look.

I felt the book displayed a Christian romance in an appropriate manner. The font and cover of the novel are pleasing to the eye. It's a story great for females of ages young adult and older.

Back to Resolution by Rose Dee
Bay Anders just lost her mother, her step father has cut her off financially and her father figure - mentor has left the country. With very few options she decides to find her father Dutch whom she had always been told ran off. On her mothers death bed she discovers her mother left her father because he could not provide the lifestyle she wanted and that her father had loved her very much and even searched for her. Her journey leads her to Australia and the area of her birth. Once there she finds the town people to be rude and hostile. She meets Flynn McKenna who lives on her fathers island Resolution and helps out. Bay soon discovers her father is missing. Her life of privilege has come to an end and Flynn shows Bay around while searching for her missing father.
This is the first book I have read by author Rose Dee, I really enjoyed her writing style and descriptive details. I found this book to be easy to read and full of faith. The characters were believable. I liked the mix of romance and mystery. Back to Resolution is an inspirational, contemporary Christian fiction. I give this book 5 stars and can not wait to read the next one.
I want to give a high-five to the author Rose Dee and publisher for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. The Book Club Network Inc. provided me with this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for their, the authors and publishers generosity.

Bay Anders has wealthy and privileged background. Then when her mother dies she finds that she wasn't left anything. Her step-father remarries within weeks of her mother's funeral, to his mistress. The new wife has him cut Bay off from further monetary allowance. Bay finds out the name of her father and leaves LA for Australia to find him. When she finds the town she is treated with hostility from the locals. When she finds a way to the island where her father lives she is met with more resistance in the person of Flynn McKenna. Then Bay finds that her father is missing, then his boat turns up and more questions need to be answered. Then Bay is hounded by developers wanting to buy the island for a resort area. When the news about who Bay is gets around then even more trouble starts.

Rose Dee is a new author for me, from Australia. I enjoyed this book immensely and had a hard time putting it down. There is suspense, action, romance, friendships, surprises, two people that learn to lean on Christ and to believe. There is humor, faith, a sweet romance, and good characterizations.

I received this book from www.bookclub.org to read, review and give my honest opinion. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Back to Resolution by Rose Dee starts off at Bay’s mother’s funeral. I have to admit at the beginning of the book I was not intrigued but as I continued to read I became pulled in. By the time Bay was on her way to New Queensland, where she grew up I was interested to see what was going to happen next and I finished the book in one sitting.

Bay returns to Australia after her mother dies and she is a freelance photographer. While there she wants to find her father, who she hasn’t seen since she was four. Instead of coming across him on the island, she finds Flynn. Throughout the book Bay begins to talk to God and rebuild her relationship with him. Bay and Flynn’s relationship grows and they search to find Bay’s father.

I really enjoyed this book; it was full was romance, mystery, and adventure. All of the sub-plots followed the main idea of the book and it was easy to follow. I was excited when I found out that there is going to be a second book, Beyond Resolution.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookCrash.com book review program, which requires an honest, though not necessarily positive, review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

“Back to Resolution” is a fast paced story about a young woman, Bay, who is very selfish and self-indulgent. She has been raised in a wealthy environment, and is quite used to the upper class lifestyle. She is a wild gal with expensive tastes.
When her mother dies Bay learns some truths that have the potential to change her life. She embarks on a journey that eventually has her living with no electricity, no bars, no parties, and no friends. This lifestyle has Bay questioning everything she used to live for and believe in. She searches for truth, for her father she was told was dead, and for God!
Rose Dee has written an interesting story that is hard to put down. “Back to Resolution” covers topics like faithfulness, loyalty and forgiveness. There is also as emphasis on what God expects from Christians as far as proper behavior, choices and even how we dress. I would be remiss in not mentioning that this book does contain a brief scene of sensuality, which is actually used to again teach us a lesson. I enjoyed this book and hope to read more from Rose Dee.

Back to Resolution is a charming read and is the first of Ms. Dee’s books that I’ve read. I do look forward to reading the rest of the Resolution Series. I loved the characters and I enjoyed the practicality of the storyline. There is no Pollyanna to this book and it’s wonderful.
When Bay finds herself orphaned in Los Angeles, she comes to realize that money and parties are very unfulfilling. She longs for more and is pushed into making some drastic changes in her life. With adventure and determination, Bay heads to Australia to make sense of her past and to find the father she never knew. Along the way, a handsome man and two natives become part of her life and romance wields into her heart.
All of the characters express their heart felt struggle in understanding why God allows some of the things He does.
Complete with adventure, mystery and suspense, Back to Resolution will have you smiling, laughing and crying right along. A wonderful read!

Bay Anders was told by her mother that her father left them when she was small. Bay is crushed after hearing her mother's death bed confession that her father had not left her but that her mom had left him, taking his money and leaving no clues as to where she was going. Bay heads down the wrong road by drinking and being a party girl. After having problems with her wealthy step-father and his girlfriend he tells her to leave the country and never return.
She travels to Queensland in search of her father and to pursue a career in photography. Bay meets several unusual characters including Flynn McKenna who is the caretaker on her fathers island.
How does Flynn affect her life? Will she find her father and realize that money is not everything? Will she find faith?
I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it. Look forward to reading more of Rose Dee's books.

Australia is to me a mystical place I would love to visit and This romantic mystery in no way disillusions this notion. With careful attention to detail the idyllic island of Resolution comes to life and I smell the salt air, feel the surf lapping at my toes, the sea breeze against my cheek and watch as Flynn expertly catches their supper. God's love, provision and guidance is clearly a part of the story as Bay looks for the father she was told had abandoned her. Falling back on the spiritual journey her mentor shared with her, she is not as adrift as she originally thought. This revelation comes only as we, together with Jane (known to us better as Bay) look back at where she has been. In looking back I can also see much clearer how God's presence has been with me and leading me.

Fun, yet full of Mystery
This is a story of “lost souls” finding peace through faith and love. The story starts in the glamour and privilege of affluent Los Angeles and moves quickly to Australia with all the adventure we expect from the rugged wilderness of that country. I became attached quickly to the main characters and felt drawn to their stories which made it hard to ever put the story down until I was done. There is plenty of heart-stopping mystery and drama, as well as romance for the tender-hearted reader. I pictured myself on a beach on Resolution island, reading from start to finish, although reality was I was home wishing for warmer weather! This is the first book in a 3-book series set on the Australian island of Resolution. I look forward to returning to Resolution for more adventures. Well done, Mate :)

Her mother bought her up with thinking only the best will do. So she leaves for Australia in search for her father. Only to find out once she is there he is missing. His tinny is found but he isn't on it. Only one person she can trust to help her is Flynn McKenna. Flynn is on the island hiding from the rest of the world. Can these two keep their minds on trying to find her father Dutch and and keep their desires for each other at bay?

Back to Resolution is a fun read with very serious content. Bay Anders has lost everything her mother, her stepfather's allowance, her expensive apartment and her mentor/boss. She's in a strange country looking for a man she last saw when she was four years old.
Will Bay find the father she has can't remember but can't give up on the hope that he will still want her after all the years of separation?
Rose Dee has done a wonderful job with her first novel. It was a little slow to get off the ground but after a couple of chapters I couldn't put it down.
This is a book about second chances and God who loves us no matter what we have done in our past and wants us to trust Him for our future.

Back to Resolution by Rose Dee is a great book. It is a new author for me but it will not be the last book I read of her's. I like her style of writing. The book moves quickly. It is a mystery with a touch of romance and add some pinches of adventure and suspense to it. It definitely teaches a lesson if one is listening. I can't wait to read the next in the series and see what else will happen on the island of Resolution.
I recieved the book from bookfun.org in exchange for my honest opinion.
